Chapter 1 - Ken

The sound of gunfire and clashing metal woke me up. Getting up, I see my clothes covered in blood. Looking around I find the grass of our dojo covered in flames and blood. My fellow students are fighting the masked attackers, while I'm just waking up on the grass.

I scrambled to my feet and try to understand what was going on. The dark night sky is filled with raging flames. Taking a step forward I see a man with a machete getting in my way. I tried to ask something, but my instincts moved my arm to a sword on my hip.

Seeing his bloody blade, I understand that he means harm. Unsheathing my sword, I raise it high above my head. Running at me, I spin to the side. Bringing my blade down, I cut off his arms. Screaming in pain, I kicked him to the side.

Looking at him bleeding on the ground, I hear. "Ken! What are you doing? Run!"

Suddenly remembering everything, I turn around only to see a giant man with a golden mask rip my fellow student in half. Making eye contact, I run into the dojo. Dropping a log on the gate lock, I see an old man sitting in silence. "Master! We need help!" Not getting a reaction from him, I run closer only to hear.

"I know child, but this battle is lost. Your friends are dying outside as we speak."

Running up to him, I kneel before him. "Master! I don't understand! You're letting us be killed!?" Starting to have my doubts, I immediately shake the away.

Standing up, the old man unsheathes his long katana. "Ken, my dear disciple, I'm old and unable to protect this dojo anymore. So I will die here, but you must carry on our legacy!"

Not understanding, I hear the dojo's gate start to get bashed down. "Master! I can't leave you here alone!" Grabbing me by the shoulder, he yells. "I taught you everything! I was not a good teacher, nor a good master! But you know everything! You need to carry on our art!"

I try to argue that I can't do anything then the first move. [Jumping Wolf] Which he completely ignores. He grabs me by the shoulder and a gust of wind helps him throw me out through the back wall.

Flying outside, I come to a stop against a tree. Feeling a branch stabbed into my back, I watch the dojo's gate be shattered. Making eye contact with the attacker, I see his large towering stature. Indicating to his eyes, which peek from behind his golden mask, he points at me.

Scrambling to my feet, I run into the slum streets of night. Hearing my chasers catch up, I unsheath my sword and run behind a corner. My pursuers run after me, so I cut the first one down. Cutting his chest open he falls to the ground in a pool of blood.

*Crack* A branch cracks behind me. Stabbing underneath my shoulder, I feel my sword dig into something. Spinning around, the body flies off the sword into my hand.

*Bang!* Firing at me, I use the dead guy as a meat shield.

Hearing another pair of footsteps behind me, I take a deep breath. "GHAAAAA!" Screaming at the top of my lungs, I charge the guys with guns in front of me. Throwing the dead guy at them, I run across the dirt roads as gunshots and bullets fly past me. Spotting scaffolding, I sprint to it. Climbing up, I hear my followers yell.

"Kill that fucking monkey!" Shotting and climbing after me, I begin to cry for a second, before reaching the roof. Running across, I jump onto another building.

Turning around, I see my first follower trying to jump over the gap between the buildings. Pushing him away, he hits the wall and falls to the ground floor.

*Bang* It was a single shot that turned my shoulder red...

Before I knew it, my body went limp and I stumbled back. Holding my shoulder, I fell over the edge. Falling onto an angled roof, I roll down until the roof's curved edge like a ramp, sends me flying into the air.

Seeing the metal-sheathed roof, I brace myself for a brutal hit. Hitting the metal, the roof breaks beneath my impact. Falling through, I hit the ground. Getting the air kicked out of me, I saw the blade fall between my legs.

The sheer panic of me losing my parts, made me jump up full of energy.

It was dark, I could barely see what was in front of me. The little light coming through the hole shows dust flying through the air.

*Whoosh* Seeing a white streak move through the shadows, I tense up.

Seeing it move from wall to wall, I think it's a magical beast. Picking up my sword, I saw the large garage door open. It's the attackers! "Drop it Ken, there's nowhere else for you to run." Holding my sword in their direction, I yell.

"Go to hell! I'll die standing!" Laughing at me, they look at me only to stop.

Stopping in their steps, one of them drops his weapon. Feeling the cold wind blow onto my neck, I dared not to turn around. Taking a deep breath, I saw the criminals swallow before picking up their blades.

"We-" Getting cut off, I hear a voice behind my head. "Tell her not to bother me." With a single nod, the gangsters ran away. Turning around to face my savior, I tried to thank him only to find no one.

"Hello?" Seeing the white streak again, I raise my sword only to fall as my shoulder losses its strength. The white streak runs at me so I close my eyes and prepare for the worst.

"What are you doing?" Opening my eyes, I see a young tired man, with a long black ponytail. And the white streak is just his long white scarf.

Trying to get on my feet, he places his hand on my shoulder and asks again. "What are you doing?" Not understanding the question, I tell him that I'm running from them.

"That's the obvious, but I guess it's better than nothing." Smiling lightly, I see his hand turn into a blur as it flies at me.

There was nothing I could do but scream in pain.
