My eyelids... They're heavy. I can't open them... Trying in vain, I suddenly feel an intense heat next to my face. Feeling water pour down my face, I jump up screaming.
Looking around, I see the startled Raven. "You!" Trying to get up, I feel something push against each other in my chest. "Calm down, you broke your ribs..... Again."
Laying me down, I ask him. "Why are you helping me?" He looks at me through the corners of his eyes. He sighed. "To be honest I don't know. Maybe I felt pity after not leaving this run-down warehouse for a month."
Blinking a few times, I tried to ask something. Only for Raven to open my mouth and put a leaf under my tongue. "Don't swallow it, it's a Lacea leaf. It increases your recovery up to 900%"
Moving the leaf in my mouth to the side, I ask. "You've been living here for a month?!" Getting a nod, I shake my head in disbelief. Sitting straight up. I move my shoulder only to hear.
"What are you doing? I didn't find any damage to your ears, so you're either deliberately not doing as I said, or you're just too dumb for human language and now I wasted my time saving an animal."
Seeing Raven shake his head, he drops a scalpel on the table and walks over. Pulling a chair with him, he sits down and looks at me for an answer. "What?" I asked.
"You're dumb..... That's hard, I'm sorry but I have no medicine that can help with stupidity. Anyways, when you get better, you should go back home."
Slapping me lightly on the cheek, he gets up and takes off his rubber gloves. And starts to walk away. Laying back down, I think of getting back to the Dojo, only to remember...
"There's no Dojo..." Rolling to my side, I try to get some sleep.
.....
Being in the dojo, I turn around and see my master.
"Master? Where are we?" Not getting a reaction from him, I get closer and grab him by the shoulder. "Master-"
The world turns red and my master starts to bleed all over his body. "You... .must.... carry... our legacy....." Falling to the ground dead. I suddenly get kicked in my chest.
Flying into the Dojo's wall, I see The Golden Mask. Making eye contact with my master's killer, I hear his name ring in my head. "James... You monster!" Running at him, I strike his neck, only for my blade to shatter.
Looking on in disbelief, I get lifted by the back of my shirt.
"Ken, it's the end for you. Your Dojo had nothing but foolish ideas which it couldn't back up with strength." Throwing me to the ground, I saw his foot stomp on my face.
....
"GHA!" Waking up in full force, I touch my head only to find it intact.
*Crunch* "Nightmare?" Raven was eating a carrot next to my bed, so I asked. "How long was I out?" Looking around the room, he shrugs. "I don't know, I don't keep clocks near me, but it's going to be morning so...."
Pulling up his sleeves and looking at his empty wrist, he bobs his head from side to side like he's counting the time. "I'd say you've been out for good 13-16 Hours."
Nodding my head, I suddenly feel like something isn't adding up.
"13-16 hours? And it's about to be morning? That doesn't make sense. Our Dojo was attacked at midnight, if anything it should have been an early night."
Shaking his head, Raven tells me something which shatters my world. "I had to keep you in that ice for a whole week. Only then could I let you out without risking you piercing your lung or something else."
Falling back on the bed, I ask. "The Dojo.... how is it?"
Shrugging his shoulders, he tells me he has no idea which one I could be from, or if even he knows of mine. "Right.... we don't know each other." Putting an arm over my face to hide my tears, I hear my masters finally wish.
[Carry on our legacy] I will teach everyone about our art.
Sitting up, I turn to Raven. "Do you have a shovel?" Not saying anything, he gets up and pulls a shovel seemingly out of nowhere. "Why do you need it?" Taking the shovel, I reply.
"Pay the proper respect to certain people." Offering me his company, we head out to my dojo.
It's not a long walk, only now do I realize how close it is. we barely walked for 20 minutes and we were there.
Standing outside a burned stone wall, we walk into the courtyard that's covered by the smell of rotting flesh. Two large piles of corpses are built next to the burned-down Dojo.
"To be honest, I expected them to be gone," Raven remarks. "What do you mean they should be gone? The only one who would bury them is me. And because of a certain someone, I was stuck inside ice for a week! God, j just now I'm realizing how hungry I am."
Feeling my tummy rumble, Ravne throws me an energy bar.
"This will have to do for now. Anyhow, back to the topic, I expected the Volunteers, the slum police force to carry them away. But with them still being here, someone wants to turn their deaths into a warning."
Walking to the Collapsed Dojo, I walk over the ruins and see a hand. Jumping to it, I pull the hand out of the ruble only to find nobody. It's my master's arm, hard as a rock. And unwavering as the steel our blades were made from.
Putting his hand on my shoulder, Raven lets me be in silence. Hugging the burned arm, I see Raven move the ruble slightly from the area, revealing a burned body. "Master!" Running to it, I lift it. It's hard and asking burned off, I'm left only wondering what we did to deserve this.
"He now rests in a better place, as his successor it's up to you to carry on his legacy." Hearing Raven's words, I spot my master's long blade. Its tip is shattered, but its edge is still long and sharp.
Grabbing it in my hand, I find the purpose which will act as the fuel to my goal.
