Chapter 11 - Nathan's Possessiveness

David knew better than to hide his feelings. Truth be told, he's been trying to come up with reasons for his feelings but up till now, he hasn't found any suitable explanations for how he feels.

He knows he's falling for her, and he is willing to give it a shot. It won't be worth hanging around the corner watching her, meanwhile, he could take a bold step to make her his.

Though he never gets the luxury of time to spend with her because of work, the little time he's spent with her is enough to bring out those hidden feelings that are buried deep inside of him.

"Ah! So this is love" David mutters, smiling meekly to himself. If one would tell him he will find himself all red and behaving like a teenager, he would have bet there will never come a day.

"Guess it's not all that it looks like, there's indeed gold buried deep in the mud" he murmurs taking a right turn.

His smile widened, and he could clearly picture Zara's smiling face. As beautiful as the morning sun, sending piercing rays of warmth and hope of a new day through the city but in this case, it is his heart.

Back at the company, Nathan was hoping to see Zara one more time before leaving but before he could set himself for home, Zara was long gone.

He groaned out, frustrated. Knowing it was the last day of work, he knows he won't be seeing her anytime soon and that didn't sound good to him.

Tirelessly, he lazily walks out of the company making his way to his car.

Quinn hurriedly rush out of the building, she's been waiting hoping to ride with him, that's if he was willing to give her a ride.

"Goodbye boss Nathan!"Quinn said, trying to get his attention, which she did.

Nathan smiled at her, opened his car, and made himself comfortable in it.

Quinn had no intention of leaving so soon, and so did Nathan. He slumps into his seat, staring at the front view of the road.

Quinn was hesitant but after a long contemplation, she spoke up

"Anything the matter, Sir?"She asked, concerned.

"no, not at all" Nathan straightens himself on his seat, taking in a deep breath.

"oh! Alright," she rubs her neck, nodding.

"Nice weekend," She said unintelligibly.

Nathan raises a brow," pardon?" He didn't get what she said.

"huh?" Quinn looks even more confused.

"heard you say something" Nathan explains, staring at her through the window.

"Oh!"Quinn exclaims at the realization she did say something," yeah! I said nice weekend "she explains.

"thanks" Nathan nods and waves her goodbye, his car quickly disappearing from her view.

Quinn could only breathe out, the fact that he doesn't have her time now doesn't mean he never will.

She believes there is more to what is there, she is so sure that he will come to notice her as time goes by, hopefully.

With a sigh, she walks away.

At dusk, Nathan could feel his self-control threatening to break. A night without Zara's voice is like a life without oxygen.

He paces back and forth in his room, goes into the bath, and washes off his face.

He hoped to get a hang of himself but that was in no way happening.

He pours out water and gulps it down in one goal yet it doesn't help to quench his thirst for her.

There was only one option left for him to do, "call her"

He walks to his bed and grabs tight on his cell phone. He's been calling her lately and he doesn't want her to think he's a loner.

With a deep breath, he was about to place his phone when he made the biggest mistake of his life, his tomb accidentally switched on his phone and Zara's picture popped up on the screen.

He froze, eyes stayed glued to the beauty on his screen. Indeed, she's worth being his screen saver and more, there's no need to ask for any more pictures of her.

As if being compelled to, he unlocked his screen and dialled her number.

On the other hand, Zara has been feeling restless. Her eyes fell on the wall clock, it had already passed ten yet no call from Nathan.

She doesn't know why she's feeling this way, as if her life has been paused all of a sudden.

"Get to bed bitch, he's not gonna call anytime soon" she taps on her cheeks waking herself from her wide imagination.

She can't tell why she so much wants him to call her, to hear that deep and gentle voice of his.

"Maybe because he's been calling, that's why I am feeling this way..." She thought, with a frown. She's trying so hard to figure out her weird desire to hear his voice.

"What if you are in love?" She doesn't let herself get consumed in her thoughts as she quickly shakes off her head, believing she's just being friendly.

Her phone buzzed, jolting her from her thoughts. She grabs her phone quickly and answers the call.

She didn't need to check the caller ID, knowing it can only be Nathan," hello!" She speaks up in a tiny yet pleasing voice.

"sleeping? " Nathan asked, he didn't mean to ask her that but it came out anyway.

"no, not at all," Zara was quick to deny.

"What are you doing then?" Nathan asked Zara back.

She wasn't expecting him to ask that but, somehow she is happy he did.

"Scrolling through my phone" Zara chuckled, finding her lie funny. She can't possibly tell him she's been thinking about him... Never.

"You?" She returned the question.

Nathan sighs in relief, "Lying on my bed and counting the ceiling" he tells her nonetheless.

Truly, he was counting the ceiling as he stared at it, "but not anymore" he breathed out that word.

"why?"Zara finds herself asking, wanting to know more.

"Can't possibly be doing such a boring thing right now, not when I am talking with you"Nathan was being honest, but his honesty got Zara hot... Like who the fuck will say that as if it's nothing sexy?

Her face grows red, smiling. "Thank" her voice came out as a whisper but he was able to hear her

"It's like you're blushing" Nathan said as if knowing what she was doing at the moment

"How do you know!"Zara asked, amazed by his sensitivity and tone.

"From their voice, you shall know them" he jokes, and she laughs.

"Any plans for the weekend?" Nathan asked, intending to stir up a new conversation

"Well, don't think I've got any, why asked?"Zara didn't know what he was up to and she didn't want to know. The fact he is talking to her right now is more than enough.

"Nothing much wanted to know if your weekends are always this free"Nathan knew better than crossing his limit.

"Oh, well... At first, my weekends were always booked but not anymore" Zara finds herself telling him, not thinking about it.

"I see... Who do you spend it with?" Nathan couldn't help but asked, curious to know if she's got someone

"No one is important and as I said, it's before... Not anymore" Zara was quick to brush away the topic.

She didn't want to stir up any conversations that would make her remember her past. She wants to dwell in her present, and focus on a better future.

"Sure, no pressure" Nathan could sense the pain in her voice, he was quick to evade the topic and not press on any further.

"So... What's up for the night," He asked, aiming at making her talk more 'cause the more she talked, the better he got to know her.
