Chapter 13 - What Do You Like About Men?

"So tell me, what do you like about men?" Nathan asked, stunning Zara with his question.

Zara didn't mind as she answered honestly, "well, I don't think I like anything about men, don't get me wrong but you asking about men sounds weird, I mean what if I say I like their body size, and sexiness, that'll be insane right?" She asked, feeling uncomfortable with the question.

"No, it won't!" Nathan said silently engulfing the atmosphere.

Zara lies on the bed, waiting for him to say something. She's becoming addicted to him lately and she's loving it somehow.

Nathan breathed out over the phone, Zara could hear it as her phone was close to her ears.

"What do you like in a man?"Nathan asked this time, being precise.

"Um..." Zara seems to be thinking, "I like a man that is gentle, loving, has eyes on one woman, simple to me yet domineering to others, knows how to make me feel like a woman, and most of all, he should be understanding and trust me" Zara list out all the qualities she wants in a man.

Nathan was amazed at how good she is at pointing out what she wants, no beating around the bush." Interesting, what if he has all those things but lacks trust? " He asked.

"then we ain't good together, there is no way a relationship can workout without trust... Absolutely no way" Zara said as a matter of fact.

"Why?" Nathan asked as if clueless about what was there.

"Trust is essential in every relationship, trust helps both parties to live freely knowing this other won't and will never cheat on them. Without trust, the relationship turns to crumble because both parties involved will be in constant monitoring of one another and damn, that's a mess. The last thing you'll hear after that is insulting and abusive words being exchanged, the stronger party with tend to start using the weaker one as a douchebag or should I say, a punching bag" All this while, Zara has been lost in her past, saying this reawakened all the sad and bad relationship experience she's gone through.

"Seems like you're good with relationship stuff "Nathan complimented, hearing the awkward silence from her.

Zara chuckles, "I won't say that if I were you," she said.

"Why not? You just gave a good, no, not good. An excellent speech and you deserve a compliment and applause "he jokes. Trying to clear the atmosphere, he could feel it, she was trying so hard not to keep her cool.

"so, tell me more about yourself. Your likes and dislikes " he changes the topics.

Zara smiles and starts talking about herself. She felt so relieved he didn't have any more questions based on a real relationship.

They chatted for hours before they knew it, it was already one in the morning.

Neither of them was tired but they had to wish each other good night knowing they will see each other the next day.

Quinn couldn't bear the sight of Zara anymore. Everything about her irritates her to the core.

Zara was having an issue with a file, David didn't show up to work and the only person that could help her out was Quinn.

Zara knocks on Quinn's door and with her permission, she walks in.

Just at the sight of Zara, Quinn's face changes from its original normal one to grumpy and gloomy.

Zara saw the look on her face but chose to ignore remembered the last time she tried showing concern but was treated as though she was trying to poke her nose into another person's business.

"Good morning, Quinn!" Zara greets, and Quinn responds with a nod and doesn't return it.

Zara swallows hard, brushing away the odd feeling. "Um, please, I will need your help on the file. I don't understand how" before Zara could lay out her problems, Quinn shut her up

"I can't help," she tells her straight forward, not beating around the bush. "Have a lot on my plate," she explains.

Zara didn't miss out on how she said it. It's as if 'Zara' was begging him for money.

"Oh!" Zara exclaims, "ok, thanks anyways" she gave her a genuine smile and excused herself.

On her way to her offer, she came across Beatrice.

"Good morning, Zara. You look stunning today" Beatrice commented, "and, I see you are a true lover of lavender " Beatrice couldn't help but comment. Ever since Zara came into the company, she's never missed a day when she doesn't have a piece of lavender on her body. Not like she's complaining, it makes her look even more attractive and unique.

" Thanks, and yes, I do love lavender, a lot more than you can imagine, " Zara said as they both laughed.

"I don't know if it's right to be concerned, but is everything ok with Quinn?" Zara asked, hoping to get an explanation.

"Like?" Beatrice asked, not understanding her question.

"Is there something disturbing her, like problems or something" Zara further explains.

Beatrice put on a thinking face, "no, I don't think so. Why asked?" She didn't know why Zara suddenly asked about Quinn.

"I'm just from her office right now, the way she sounded, she doesn't look quite alright to me"Zara confesses, trying to figure out what might be the cause of her gloominess.

It's unlike her to worry about anyone but when she starts considering someone as a friend, she can't help but worry.

"I don't know, maybe it's just her mood. I saw her this morning and she seems quite cheerful. Don't know what's wrong but I think she might be sad about something" Beatrice tries explaining to the best of her knowledge.

"It's not in our place to worry, let's just hope she gets a hang of whatever is disturbing her" Beatrice gave a light touch on Zara's shoulder.

"See you later, gotta go now" With that, Beatrice left.

Zara didn't have the luxury of time to ponder on matters that were not related to her. Her work awaits her and she does know how to go about it.

Looking at the file in her hands she whispers, "how I wish David was here" with that, she walks her way to her office.

Zara sits in her office completely immersed and working on the paperwork when a knock comes on the door.

"Come in," she said, eyes glued to what she was doing.

Nathan walks in, she didn't even realize it was him.

"Anything for me Beat..." Her words stuck up in her throat upon seeing that the person before her was not Beatrice but Nathan.

"Good morning, boss. Welcome, you would have sent for me if you needed me" Zara said, standing up from her seat, and giving him the respect he deserves.

Even though they could say they are friends now, she still acts all responsible and formal with him. Their close relationship has nothing to do with their work and status.

"It's ok, I felt bored sitting in the office so I decided to check up on you," Nathan said casually while taking a seat.

Zara smiles, "nice thinking, I'm happy you thought of me," she said without even thinking about how it will sound in the ears.

Nathan gave out a little chuckle, "busy today?" He asked.

Zara looks down at the file before her and breathes out heavily, "yeah, kinda stuck on this file" she confesses.
