Chapter 14 - A Successful Meeting

"We will be attending a meeting in an hour,'' Nathan informs.

Zara stares at him in disbelief, "we?" She asked again, wanting to be sure of what she heard.

Nathan nods before saying a 'yes'.

Zara didn't know if to laugh or cry. How can she go out with him while her work sits back, waiting for her to make a move?

"I have to complete this work before tomorrow and I can't afford to complete my task" Zara complains. Even if he is the boss, that doesn't mean she should do things the way he pleases, there are company rules set by him and she can't afford to go against any.

Nathan raises a brow, "And who says your work won't be done?" He questions.

Zara stayed quiet, she had nothing to say.

"Give me the file?" He orders, without delay, Zara quickly hands him the file.

"Get ready, we'll be leaving in fifteen minutes," He said, with that, he left.

Zara could only blink at the closed door, not believing what just happened.

Nathan walks into Quinn's office, and Quinn's face brightens up at the sight of him in her office.

There has never been a day Nathan has visited her. It's always with a single call and there, she goes running to him.

"Good morning, boss!"Quinn greets, voice excited even though she tries not to show it.

"Good morning, Quinn. How are you doing this morning?" He asked, moving closer to her desk.

Quinn blushes red, she doesn't know why but she can't stop herself from reacting this way.

"You are a fool Quinn, how can you be this fool for love? He didn't say anything romantic" her inner self told her, annoyed... "Don't mind her, she's jealous. It's not every day you get to hear him ask about your night, you've got the right to blush" another voice says.

Her thoughts were conflicting, but she was about to get a hang of it and she chose the second. Why won't she blush, who wouldn't?

"Did you get me?" Nathan asked, with a frown.

Although he was talking, he noticed she was smiling and not saying a word.

"What? Pardon me, I was lost"Quinn apologized, seeing how she looks right now.

"How free are you?"Nathan asked, all the while he was standing. There is no need to sit down when he's got something important to do after this.

"Very free, this is the last thing I have for the day," Quinn said. Deep down, she thought Nathan was asking because he intend to take her out but what he said next made her face drop

"Good, here, check out these files and give me back tomorrow. I know how good you can be with stuff like this" Nathan placed the file on the table and turned and left.

"Have a nice day?" he said and closed the door.

Quinn didn't know how to react, she doesn't know if she should be happy or crying. She blinks a couple of times to get her mind thinking straight again.

Her eyes fall on the file, she reaches out for it and opens it. Her face turns pale at the realization it's Zara's file.

Not like she was a magician but it was written at the top right corner, 'the management sector "

"Zara came in earlier this morning to plead for her help, she had a yellow file with her and now, Nathan is giving me the same yellow file " she hits her palms on the desk so hard that she cries out in pain.

"Bitch!" She curses holding onto her injured hands. If Zara is presented before her right now, she will surely rip her body apart, limb by limb.

With no choice, she picks on her pen and starts going through the file. She has to do it, for Nathan's sake.

Nathan and Zara arrived at the hotel fifteen minutes before the meeting time.

Nathan walks up to the record stand, indicating he will be in the room. His were handed to him.

They both walk up to the room, Zara silently watches him open the door while her gaze travels around the corridor. The hotel was indeed an expensive one, with nice decorations and designs inside.

Zara's jaw drops at the sight of his room. It was big and beautiful. It could sum up to her house. She knows how wealthy Nathan is but she still couldn't hold on to her surprise.

"Have a seat" he offers, taking his seat opposite hers. It didn't take long before the client arrived.

"Good morning Mr Slater, sorry for my lateness," Arnaud said, shaking Nathan's hands.

Zara glanced at her wristwatch, it was exactly ten in the morning. Her mouth drops again for the second time. "What's he sorry about when she arrived in time?" She thought, staring at the two men who seemed to have a good chat.

"And who do we have here?" Arnaud said, eyes on Zara.

"Pardon my manners, Arnaud, this is Zara, my new manager" he introduced the lady first, just like the customer demanded.

"Nice to meet you, Zara!" Arnaud said, extending his hand for a shake.

"And Zara, this is Arnaud, the client I was talking about" He introduced the man.

"The pleasure is all mine, sir" Zara accepts his hands.

"Now that we know each other, Zara, can you please get us a good wine from the wine cellar?" Nathan said, Zara nodded and left.

Nathan and Arnaud had a lot to discuss and Arnaud quickly jumped into it. Both men were too invested in their discussion.

Zara came with a tray having three wine glasses with a bottle of expensive wine.

She pours out the wine and serves them, taking her to sit by Nathan.

Zara could only listen to them discuss, learning and admiring how good Nathan can handle situations and how excellent he is when it comes to giving out solutions or remedies.

She didn't know her role, the main reason why he used to tag her along but at least it was worth her time.

If she would have still been in the office, she would be blank and empty on how to go about her work.

Sitting for almost three hours straight and serving them wine while they chat was a lot more than she could imagine.

It felt like the meeting is never coming to an end but luckily, she heard the word she had been longing to hear for hours now

"So we've concluded today's meeting, it was wonderful doing business with you. I will send my investment as soon as possible, I don't like to take the second seat" Arnaud said, taking Nathan's hand for a shake.

"I'm glad to hear that, thanks for trusting the multimillion-dollar industry" Nathan gave him a professional smile.

"And you Zara," Arnaud turns to Zara, "thanks for being there to fill out glasses making sure they're never running out of wine," he said.

"Thanks for trusting us sir, we look forward to your investment. And just like now, our service is great and assuring, our investor's gain is our priority, "Zara said, thanking his hand for a shake.

Arnaud laughs, "you've indeed got the best manager so far" he compliments them and bids them goodbye, and leaves.
