Chapter 12 - He Looks At Her Differently

Nathan's early appearance in the company has become something everyone has come to know him for. Just the other day, he sits in the room where their meetings are always held, waiting for everyone to come.

Zara, David, and Beatrice walk at the same time as if they had planned it for a long time.

Quinn and the brown hair guy came last. The meeting proceeded with all the members being present.

Nathan brings up the topic of the problems the board members complained about in their last meeting.

The entire room was ghost silent with everyone listening to him attentively.

Beatrice jotted down short notes on everything now and then, she is the meeting's note-taker.

"What do you think, how can we work to make this project a success?" Nathan's eyes darts around, staring at their faces

The room was immersed in total silence, Zara upped to make a point and Nathan nodded, giving her the go-ahead.

With that, Zara stood up, respecting the higher staff members at the table. She spoke, making her idea clean and clear.

Everyone in the room was amazed at how good she is, no! She isn't only good but excellent.

This is the second time she's proving herself worthy of being called the manager of the multimillion-dollar industry. She's not only beautiful but intelligent.

Nathan was impressed. Nathan who has been the cold and aloof type has now regained his usual self, the smile on his lips said it all.

But the look in his eyes said more than just being impressed, he was proud of her.

David on the other hand couldn't help but elbow Zara, smiling. Indeed, his heart made the right choice, choosing the right and the perfect person to fall for. The room was happy and lively but the gloomy face of Quinn was enough to bring forth dark clouds all over.

She should've been happy, but isn't seeing that Zara got my attention.

Getting all the attention is not her busy but getting Nathan's attention was what aches her most. The way Nathan looks at Zara is different from the way he looks at her.

Quinn faked a smile, clearing her throat. She stood up and gave a suggestion, unlike the one Zara gave, it was contrary.

Her suggestion was good, no lie but Zara's is more than just the word good.

Nathan didn't give much of a reaction, he only nodded to her suggestion and jotted something down on the big book before him.

This little act of his got Quinn fuming in rage, but she didn't dare show it out.

With a forceful smile, she took her seat.

"Any more suggestions?"Nathan asked, with an expectant look on his face.

A few minutes passed, and there was no response.

"We come to a conclusion of putting Zara's idea into practice, Quinn's come second if Zara's doesn't work... Hers will be our plan B" Nathan informs.

Everyone nods in understanding, except Quinn who tried so much not to let lose herself.

With the conclusion, the meeting was dissolved. Everyone gathers their stuff heading out.

Quinn was the first to leave, followed by Beatrice and the grey-haired guy.

David and Zara were discussing something as Zara picks h up d files on the table heading out. She came to Abit Kate and didn't have the time to drop her stuff off in her office. Thank God, Nathan didn't complain

"Zara, a moment please" Nathan called out, he couldn't just let her go, not when he had the chance to talk with her even if it was for a minute.

Zara waves to David as he exits the door while she returns to her previous seat.

"Good morning, Zara!" Nathan greets, again for the second time.

"Good morning, Sir Nathan" Zara greets, giving him a warm smile.

"Trust your night was great!"Nathan said, gaze never leaving her face.

Zara nodes smiling," awesome... Yours?" She returned the question.

"Great! Nathan's eyes narrow a little, "your weekend?" He asked.

It's been a long weekend, though they chat on the phone, that was on Friday and he couldn't help but ask.

He'd so much wished to call her every night but he didn't want to make himself so obvious.

"Good, got to go out and have a little fun," Zara informed.

Now, this is where the big interrogation begins. Nathan could clearly recall their last conversation

"Thought you said you won't be going anywhere 'cause you had no plans for the weekend?"Nathan asked in an inquiry tone.

"Yes, I did but a friend asked for a date, I couldn't say no"Zara stated the fact. It's not like they are dating that she couldn't tell him something.

"I'm sure you girls had lots of fun"Nathan is too smart to go straight to the point knowing she will quickly understand where she's driving to

Zara laughs, "and who says it's a girl?" She asked, still laughing. She couldn't hold on to it any longer.

"me, my imagination" Nathan jokes, smiling. He wasn't smiling because of what he said, he was smiling because of how beautiful she is when she smiles.

"great thinking... Well, it's not a she, it's a he" Zara corrected when she finally settled down from her laughter.

Hearing that it's a 'he' a frown appears on his face," nice " his tone was unlike his usual, it didn't sound happy or lively.

" I wonder who that person might be," he murmured thoughtfully.

"He's no one new, someone you know," Zara said and the lines on his forehead deepens.

"Someone I know?" he repeated, thoughtfully.

Zara nods a 'yes', smiling.

This got him wondering who that person that he knows is, nothing was ringing, not even a click of a bell.

"Ok fine, I'll tell you," Zara said laughing, seeing how stressed he was over nothing

Their last chat really brought them closer, Zara could relax beside him, though not completely but if compared to their first encounter, it's an improvement.

"David!" She tells me.

Nathan couldn't help but frown more, "David?" He asked as if he didn't get what she said.

Zara nods. Nathan didn't know if he should laugh or cry, he felt jealous somehow knowing David have got the chance to take her out and him, he was still trying to get her used to him.

"Why David?"Nathan asked even before he could process things.

Zara frowned all of a sudden, " Don't get it, what do you mean?" She asked, stopping her brain from overthinking things.

"I mean, you would have simply told me you wanted to go out, and I would have taken you there, anywhere" Nathan didn't mind if he was being jealous or real, all he wanted was free out of his tight chest

"didn't plan on going out, he made me... But I promise to hit you up whenever I feel like taking a walk or something" she coaxed the sulking big boss.

Nathan was somehow pleased by her word." Where did you guys go?" He asked.

"The park," Zara tells him anyway, he asked for it.

Nathan nods, he seems to be thinking about something. Silent reign for some second before he asked again

"What type of activities did you guys do?" He was neither ashamed to ask her such, but rather, he looked even more focused. Ears ready to hear everything.

Zara stares at him, eyes wide open with mouth hung open in disbelief. "Is he seriously asking me right now?" She asked herself, unable to blink.
