INFO: The national exams were conducted for all the core subjects of Math, Chinese Literature, English, and Science which had sections for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. There was a new addition this year for a free-writing essay paper. It was not going to affect the student's grades but would be given to university recruiters to help with scholarships if the essay was written well. Each exam was 1 hour and 45 minutes with a 30-min gap in between each exam.
Math – 8:30 – 10:15 AM
Science – 10:45 AM – 12:30 PM
Lunch break 12:40 – 1:40 PM
Chinese Literature 1:45 – 3:30 PM
English 4 – 5:45 PM
Essay – 6:30 – 7.30 PM

The months leading up to exams were left empty. Hua used this opportunity to get her ducks in a row for when she left after the exams. She was researching online for live-in jobs in Beijing. She had planned it all out.
