Chapter 13 - Dark, romantic dinner

Sometime later, Fahsai jerked awake and her pupils dilated for a split second when she saw the man prying at her ravenously.

"How long I have been out for?" She wondered.

"Three hours. Practically, I didn't want to wake you up because there's a Thai saying that says it's bad luck to wake a sleeping person." Daniel said.

"Gosh! I have work to do and I'm still yet to present." She freaked out and the latter was texting and emailing whatever on his phone the whole time.

"No need for that, I read everything." He said.

"So what are your thoughts? Do you want to change anything?" Fahsai asked.

"I don't discuss work at 6pm." He said.

"But I need to report to my superiors." She said annoyingly.

"You fell asleep." He offered to tell her the truth.

"Are you messing with me right now?" She questioned sadly.

"We seem to have different work ethics, I place value on work time and besides I don't have time to "mess" with anyone." He smirked devilishly at her. Fahsai looked like she was going to cry.

"I understand, it was my fault." Fahsai admitted as she swallowed tears. "I'll be off now then, wouldn't want to waste any more of your precious time."

"I've been trying to get hold of you!" Big Sis scolded Fahsai who was crying over the phone. "Daniel had his right hand man call the Chief to give them a thumps up. He has read the work and he liked it."

"Aw, you devil Daniel! And you said you're not teasing me...." The excited Fahsai muttered under her breath.

"I have something to discuss with you, he can return the documents for you." Daniel startled her as she proceeded to head back to the office.

"Thanks for allowing me to pass." She said even though she disregarded his stoic ways.

"I don't discuss business past 5pm."

"I thought it was 6pm? Keep your story straight!"

The right hand man watched his Boss and Fahsai but resolved to leave with a smile plastered on his face.

Word reached Gang Suer Khao that their other enemy Khalif was in Thailand.

"I don't think it's for pleasure." They thought.

As the right hand man returned the documents back to Fahsai's office, he got a call.

"Chop off the minion's tongue if he's not willing to talk. Also, no word to the Boss."

Nuth walked in on time to hear everything but her phone also rang just in time.

"I...I just got here." She stammered. "I didn't hear anything."

The right hand man gave a firm hold on the documents.

"Fahsai's phone is dead and will not be communicating to you today." He said.

"If anyone dares to eavesdrop or report our findings, I'll cut their ears off to start with." He faked a call as she walked away.

Daniel's "talk" resulted in a dark, romantic dinner with Fahsai, but the girl was astonished at the menu prices.

"I'll just have French fries." She chose to order something within her expenses and he was not comfortable with it.

"Don't give me that look, I'm not really hungry."

But the latter ordered her food even if she balked it was too expensive.

"Do you still have plans of working with Chanming?" He questioned her and her silence bothered him. "Decline the offer, because it's not right. You're inexperienced when it comes to any therapeutic help to a traumatized man."

"Chanming ought to know how much you worry about them." She said, smiling.

"I'm worried about you. Siao Yao isn't in his best mental state, he could hurt you. Besides, I need you for the magazine, because no one else would do."

Daniel leaned over the table, ever closer to her and repeated the sentence she had practiced in front of the mirror, "Love is a novel that two people created. And at the end of the story, no matter what happens, once upon a time in their hearts, they've experienced beautiful love."

She was captivated by his voice as he spoke the words that came out of her heart. She even fell for his romance chops. As he returned home, she found her dad cutting flowers for her mom.

"Do you think she'll like them?" He asked for her daughter's opinion and Fahsai just smiled. His father was still trying to make it up to her mom and also ask permission to go out.

"I love you guys." She stayed back to cheer on her parents as they got cute with each other.

"I'll let you go out." Her mom said without giving him a hard time, knowing that he already wanted to go and there was no stopping him. "But on one condition, promise me that you're not going to touch even tiny a drop of alcohol."

"I promise my sweet pie." He kissed her forehead and went out.

Daniel peered at the necklace that was returned to him and brought it to his lips. Suddenly, his right hand man barged in.

"Hm? We have found information for the thing you wanted to investigate." He reported though he knew it wasn't a good time since the latter was engrossed in Fahsai's fantasy.
