The sweet melody of "It won't stop"
by Sevyn Streeter blasted through her eardrums as she hummed along to the beat and bopped her head gently.
Her earpods were on their noise cancellation setting, so apart from the music she was listening to, she was basically deaf.
"Now this was music" she thought.
"Milan!!" A feminine voice screamed her name, unknown to her.
"Ughh why does she act like this?" The voice complained and she approached.
A tap on the shoulder alerted the girl whose earpods were in.
Milan's POV
I felt a heavy tap on my left shoulder, and My heart sank for a moment.
All the self defense classes I enrolled in when I was younger seemed to have been a waste of time because my brain went blank and I didn't know how to respond.
Turning around slowly, I was met with large brown eyes. They were familiar, Judith.
"You're so rude, why were you ignoring me" the other young lady asked with a pout.
Without saying anything, I pointed at my ears to show her the earpods.
She mouthed an "Ohh" and smiled.
I turned off the music and removed the noise cancellation setting.
"It's been a while you know... Why don't we talk and hang out anymore Milly?"
Milly... The nickname she gave me when we were friends.
I remembered a time when it was the sweetest thing my ears had heard.
But now?
It sounded disgusting, since it came from the mouth of a disgusting person.
"What do you want Judith?" I asked cutting to the chase.
She looked slightly hurt by my forwardness and formality, but quickly tried to mask it.
That's too bad... But I didn't feel bad, I couldn't.....
"I want us to go back to the way we were, Milly. I miss you so much and I want us to fix this" Judith said with what looked like sincerity in her eyes.
"Fix what?" I cocked my eyebrow at her little act.
"Fix a dead friendship?" I asked more clearly.
She swallowed and sighed.
Her shoulders relaxed in defeat and it seemed her facade dropped too.
"Why are you being so difficult, Milly?
Out of the goodness of my heart, I humbly approached you so we could fix this friendship"
I laughed out loud when I heard "out of the goodness of my heart"
"What goodness of your heart Judith? People like you don't have hearts let alone goodness in it" I laughed even more.
That seemed to strike a nerve because her Expression morphed into what her heart looked like... Evil.
Her pretty girl act dropped and she began,
"you bitch, do you know who I am? I am a Dexter, Judith Dexter for fuck's sake! You're trying to act tough huh. But we all see through your whole big girl act.
Deep down you're just a little lonely broken girl who was gang-"
Paaaaaa
The sound of the slap resounded in Judith's ears. Her cheeks burned and her skin turned red almost instantly.
Still shocked by what had just happened, she stood there wide eyed and wide mouthed.
I grabbed her hair and pulled it, "Stay the fuck away from me Judith. I'll do more than a slap next time and I'll be damned if I don't leave you as broken as you did me"
And with that, I walked away from that scenery.
As I got further and further away, the tears tugged at the corner of my eyes.
It still hurt even after all this time.
The wounds still weren't healed..... It felt fresh, too fresh. Seven years didn't make the pain less. At that point, I was sobbing uncontrollably.
There was a reason I didn't like my cousins / was scared of them. They and my so-called best friend were the cause of my pain.
......
Seven years ago..
"Omg Milly, what's taking so long?" A high pitched voice screamed.
"Judy, I almost done" the girl upstairs screamed back.
"We can't be late for this party, my love. There'll be so many important guests and you're well aware of my plan" Judy giggled after speaking.
Milan laughed hearing what her best friend said. Judy's plan was to "accidentally" bump into a well known celebrity, charm them and make them fall for her.
She said it like it was easy as pie.
You'd have to do something to get their attention in the first place. Then be able to keep the attention, and finally make them like you.
It seemed like so much work and Milan wasn't going to watch that.
She descended from the staircase wearing a nude coloured bodycon mini dress.
It hugged her curves elegantly and her makeup was done to match the vibe of the outfit, it was perfect.
"Oh wowwww.... It seems my friend will steal all the mean before I get my hands on them" Judy joked.
"Oh please, you look stunning" Milly praised.
She wasn't saying it vainly. Judith looked amazing. She was wearing a red bodycon dress with a long slit that showed off her beautiful legs, Her red lipstick to match and her flawless glass skin makeup.
Her big brown eyes were the star of her face.... They looked like two planets, the swirls and the vibrant hue drew you in without warning.
Oh her friend was beautiful, Milan thought
