Crossing Fields English

(BL) Hunting The Field Guide

Kellen Woods grew up never knowing a normal world. By the time he could walk, his mother and father had already sealed several serious gates that threatened the safety of his hometown. By the time his sister was born, they were famous worldwide. So the world held their breath for when Kellen and his sister came of age, waiting to see what kind of power they would awaken. His sister was just like his mom, same power, same class, while Kellen, woke up one day to find out what it meant to be special in a family the world watched. But in the worst way. Awakening weaker then your powerful parents wasn’t unheard of, but when your younger sister awakened at the same class as your parent, anyone would feel inferior. And Kellen, never one to ask for hand outs, left the comfort and safety of his hometown to become better than the weak brat everyone thought he was. Kellen went to the front lines, to where the gates normally broke out. From there, Kellen worked hard, and then worked some more until no one could doubt that he was good at his job. He got so good that even with his lower class, people would still hire him to help. But Kellen never took it to heart. He had learned a valuable lesson on the front lines. Classification only meant shit if you walked back out of the gate. Otherwise, shut your mouth and listen to those with more experience. They determined who made it out alive or not. But Kellen was tired now. He had gotten everything out of his system, and the fast paced life on the front lines didn’t suit him anymore. Now, he wanted to go home, buy a house, maybe find a nice man to settle down with, and live a normal life. All the while, the yellow eyes he’d met on the front lines haunted him, no matter how much he tried to forget about them. Especially since the Esper they were attached to refused to let him go.

Catalyst Cross Lesio

Naph had a couple of years of extremes. One year, he was trying to chase down a few rats in a desert. Another he was hunting bears in a river. There was a year when he just chilled himself on a beach. His volatile heart mayhems his life. This time his hunt had a different breed entirely. Named Bulwark. Quite the bounty on such a name. The only requirement? Bring the head back clean and without damage. Hunting was a sport. At least that’s what he had learned by watching others. Every adult showing off their repertoire of the dead. His volatile nature and teen years hadn’t taught him whom to show off or not. Bulwark was his first human kill. Yet it was his first insight into what a ‘catalyst’ could do. His survival had been on his intellect earlier, but not anymore. The world responded. He ran. Ran into things he hadn’t heard. Will the world make him another number in its long list of the dead? Or will he learn its truths? Will he know of the unspoken words he hadn’t processed? His heart a volatile entity; the world a raging a beast chasing him. And a few words that he didn’t knew- yet one etched itself in: “Cata”. ---------------------------------------------------- This story is also available on RoyalRoad.com with the same title "Catalyst Cross Lesio" with the username 'alex_reads'. Flower Fields

Heartbroken and adrift, Elena Hayes inherits more than just her late mother Sarah's beloved lavender farm, Wildhaven Blooms; she inherits a dying legacy and a well of grief she can't navigate. Leaving her high-pressure Chicago life behind, Elena returns to the sun-drenched valleys only to find the once-vibrant purple fields brittle and grey, mirroring the hollow ache within her. She's determined to save the farm, her last tangible connection to her vibrant mother, but the challenges are overwhelming, and her isolation is profound. Her salvation arrives unexpectedly in the form of Liam Carter, the quiet, capable handyman Sarah trusted. Their first meeting is a disaster – Elena, covered in mud and tears, wrestling a broken irrigation pump; Liam, calm and observant, offering help she stubbornly rejects. Yet, he doesn't leave. With steady hands and a deep understanding of the land – and of loss – Liam begins tending to the failing fields, gently breaking through Elena's walls of grief and self-doubt. As they work side-by-side under the vast sky, reviving the lavender row by row, an undeniable connection blossoms. Liam's quiet strength and unwavering support become Elena's anchor. He shows her not just how to nurture the plants, but how to reconnect with the simple beauty of life she'd forgotten in the city. He listens to her memories of Sarah, shares stories of his own past, and helps her see her mother's spirit alive in the very soil they cultivate. But saving Wildhaven Blooms isn't just about farming. Elena uncovers hidden financial struggles and a surprising secret in her mother's past that threatens the farm's future and shakes her understanding of her family. Facing this new crisis, Elena must decide if she's truly ready to put down roots and fight for this new life, or retreat to the safety of what she knew. "Flower Field" is a heart-touching romance about healing, finding strength in unexpected places, and the transformative power of love and nature. It's the story of a woman rediscovering herself through the legacy of her mother and the quiet devotion of a man who teaches her that even the most withered fields, and hearts, can bloom again with patience, care, and the courage to open up. As the lavender finally surges back to life, painting the valley in a breathtaking sea of purple, Elena realizes that her greatest inheritance wasn't the land, but the chance to rebuild her life, mend her heart, and find a love as enduring and fragrant as the fields themselves.
