The room was silent, but the constant tapping on the keyboard of the laptop caused a disturbance.
Fingers moved up and down, exerting some force and then none. Eyes watched the screen as if they could burn holes in it.
The tapping sound stopped for a moment. He wrapped his palm on his neck and rubbed it with a sigh.
He straightened his posture and kept typing on the laptop, unblinkingly.
A few minutes later, he folded his laptop and stood from where he sat.
His bare feet moved slowly across the cool tiled floor, enjoying the feel.
*Knock knock*
He stopped moving when he heard someone knock on his door.
Without waiting for a response, the person walked in.
"Oh what a delightful brother I have who hasn't checked up on me in so long", A lady wearing the prettiest barbie dress and matching platform heels said in the most sarcastic one ever.
"And what a delightful sister I have who barges into my study when I'm Working" he replied walking towards the water dispenser.
"Whatever, you don't look busy though" she rolled her eyes.
He didn't reply, his hands reached for a cup as he filled it and drank from it.
"Why are you here today?" He asked stretching his arms.
"Well, isn't it obvious?" She asked like the answer was written boldly on her forehead.
"Not really" he replied simply.
"I'm going on a date! You're so slow" she frowned.
"Hmmm" he responded.
Then silence.......
"Anyway, your "girlfriend" is coming to see you today so I decided to give you a heads up before she gets here" she said with a smile.
"My what?"
"Your 'girlfriend', you know, the one who's obsessed with you" she laughed.
He frowned understanding who she was talking about.
He didn't hate Daphne but he wasn't a fan either.
He scratched his head and sighed because he knew that If she came to him, she wouldn't leave.
He really didn't want to have to deal with this right now.
He was going to leave before she got here.
"That's all I can to say so byee" she said, leaving.
He headed for his bedroom where he changed and left his house.
He drove into the clear road, thinking of where to go.
Pasta. He wanted pasta.
He headed for the best Italian restaurant which was a bit distant from his neighborhood.
......
"Rochelle's Pasta House", the bright red sign read as he pulled up in the driveway. It blinked with pretty lights that would grab anyone's attention. The building itself was no exception. It was designed with futuristic intent.
The internal decor was loud and subtle at the same time. A lot, then not much. It was busy then calm which was why Zeke felt peace whenever he walked in here.
"You are welcome to Rochelle's Pasta House, please sit, I'll be with you shortly" a waitress said in a polite tone.
He nodded and sat.
A few minutes later, the waitress returned with a little notepad in her hand.
"What would you like you have today Sir?"
"Pasta bolognese and white wine" he answered without so much as glancing at the menu.
"Oh no problem sir..... I'll be right back" she said with an invisible sweat running down her forehead.
"Here you go" a female voice sounded behind him as she carried his food towards his table. He tapped on his phone as he waited for her to set it up.
The waitress was still standing there after setting up his meal. He could tell from his side eye.
He stopped tapping on his phone and looked up at her with a raised eyebrow as if asking what she was still there for.
She came back to her senses and bowed, "I'm sorry, call for me if you need anything at all".
As she walked away she thought of how handsome the man at the table was. He looked too handsome to actually exist to her. And his voice, she remembered how his tongue rolled around "Bolognese". It made her insides melt into a puddle of love goo.
Zeke ignored her weird behavior, he was used to females acting like he was a god in a human body. The beauty was only skin deep though.
He dropped his phone on the table and focused on his food. He admired the effort put in by the chef to make the food look otherworldly. He took a bite, to taste. Delicious, he thought. He took another, the another until the plate was empty.
His day was going very peacefully. After paying for the food, he left to his car.
"I want ice cream" he muttered a thought.
And soon after that, he was on his way to his favorite ice cream shop.
On reaching there, he saw that it was shut. He got out of his car to ask what was going on.
"The place is being renovated," a random man replied when he asked.
"Oh" was his only response As he walked back to his car.
"I guess I'll find somewhere else then", he said to himself as he drove away.
He was a bit disappointed cause he wanted to eat mint chocolate and toothpaste flavoured ice cream and this shop sold the best tasting one.
As he drove, he saw another one with a good enough look, and decided to try it out.
......
He walked into the shop and it was chilly as it should be.
"Hello, welcome to Phil's Creamy Treat, what can I get for you?" The waiter at the counter said with a bright smile.
"Mint chocolate toothpaste ice cream" he said without returning the smile.
"Ohh no, the last one was ordered by that young lady a few minutes ago" the waiter replied.
Zeke was pissed. Who the hell would order the last one? Who even likes that flavor apart form him and few others?
He turned around to see who dared to make him this annoyed.
It was a familiar girl, he stared until an invisible light bulb glowed in his head.
It was her, Bentlee.....
How he still remembered her name was a wonder to him.
He walked up to her and tapped her shoulder.
"Yes?" Her sweet voice answered.
