Chereads / MY DEMON SYSTEM:AGE OF DEMONS / Chapter 4 - A CHALLENGE

Chapter 4 - A CHALLENGE

The morning air was misty and fogy. Two teenage boys sat in the living room discussing for the day's plans.Sam had come over to Glen's home for something they had agreed on yesterday."Boys,"a woman's voice called,"I want to send you to the palace street to get me something."It was Kate, Glen's mother."What is it mom?"Glen asked."You see, there is a caravan of one rich person that arrived here yesterday for trade. And it will be going back to the palace."She spoke with a shaking voice knowing where she was sending these two."It will then return here later. And I want you to go with it and get your father a chest box from a certain direction, I'll give you the address. And make sure you won't open it,"she concluded. This had sent horrific thought s to Sam wondering if it would be a demon or dangerous creature."Why?Why should I not?Why us?"Glen was all confused. But what he got from his mom as a reply, was just a short gaze and then a kiss on the forehead as she whispered,"You are the only one who can go to the palace,we now rely on you".Sam had to first go to his place to update his parents on this and they just agreed worriedly with it.Without anything else, they prepared and they were off with the caravan.

Surely,Sam had a lot of questions in his head .First, why are they not supposed to open the box?Secondly, why didn't Glen's parents go to get it themselves if it is that important?.

"Hey, Glen, when do you think we'll return?"Sam asked.

Glen's face was emotionally understandable,"I have no knowledge about that.I think it is really important,"He was stressed. This is something that he is not capable of hiding, worry.

The cabin they were in was of high fashion as its inside was painted gold.It all looked very expensive but the price was taken care of by his parents. At least this is what Glen thought. He did not know how they managed because they lived a very humble life. Their house was very small.

"Speaking of parents, where is my dad?I did not see him.He never goes without saying?"Glen was all puzzled.Even Sam had no answer for this. The situation was like a game of chess, where no one knows where all things lead to.

"The cabin later came to a halt, and they knew they were there. The small door was opened as a muscular figure stood there,"You are here boys, you are now on your own,".Sam didn't like that sentence at all.It made feel like he would throw up any moment because he had never been away from home like this before. But he did not have any choice as he got off of the wooden car.

What they saw infront of them was all new to them.high buildings all over and it was a busy street. All kinds of businesses were being carried out here. The place was very huge and at the centre of the street, there stood a tall and huge building with high walls around it.It was the king's castle.

"My mother said that we must not get close to the castle or get chatty with the king's servants,"Glen recalled his mother's distressed voice as she said they must not.

"And she did not tell as why,is your mom the king's enemy?"Sam curiously asked.

This question gave Glen shivers as he did not know why.He could even imagine the king making his family's heads roll on the ground on their own.

"Forget about it, am already tired, let's go get that box and rest,"Sam recommended.

They walked through the place and could see a lot of attention grabbing items, that they couldn't afford unless they were willing to sleep outside in the cold. They came across an open ground surrounded by small houses and a thought struck Sam.He suddenly stopped and held on Glen's arm tightly who seemed to be absent minded stopping him in his tracks.

"Remember yesterday?,I think this is a good arena,"Sam said as he held his other hand towards the open ground.Of cause, Glen knew what Sam meant. And he didn't think it was the right time or right place. But the way his friend seemed,he couldn't refuse.

He had to accept the challenge.
