"Hmm. I just need to confirm something," Aaron said as his tone turned grave, "The Baron's Manor which was burnt down to the ground in the West was yours right? Else you would not be here in the Bluestone sect, and would not be here asking me for help."
"Yes. I had already stated it in the letter, and the one you sent back to me was a confirmation that you knew this. Why are you asking?"
"Nothing. I just needed to confirm it. So, the thing is… I'm sure you know how grave of a matter it is when nobility's properties are destroyed."
"Yeah. Death is probably the least of the worries of the offender." Morgan nodded.
"Well, your entire manor was burnt to the ground, and everyone in the villages in your Barony was mercilessly killed. That was not all. The worst part is that all of this was done by a traitorous inferior knight names James."
'I knew it!' Kai exclaimed in his mind as Morgan's face turned grim.
"But those who attacked us…" Morgan asked probingly.
"This is all the information available to the public. However, the issue is that this was not true at all. In fact, The Tulia Barony was behind everything. For reasons that elude me, they initiated a pact with the nobility of the Roth Empire to the West. This noble sent over his troops to ambush and kill you and your only remaining family; Kai."
Morgan's expression turned increasingly serious as his question was answered, but a lot more questions sprung into his mind, as well as a great deal of anger was beginning to bubble inside him.
"Of course, these enemy soldiers did not kill too many other people, and instead only went to attack you. The part about your Deputy James killing everyone in the three villages in your territory was true, unfortunately. As far as I know, no one survived."
"This matter only becomes more complicated as the Royal Palace received news of Rothnian invading our lands, whatever their reason for doing so maybe, and they sent over a team of Knights and a Mage to kill all enemy invaders. However, upon arriving, they noticed that your manor was burnt to the ground."
"So, they sought a scapegoat. Someone who was already partially to blame, and dumped all the blame on him to swiftly take care of the situation." Morgan muttered as he connected all the information, considering the story that the public knew and the actual truth.
"Yes. However, there is one issue with this entire situation. James apparently revealed that both of you, and everyone else was dead, and the news was spread with a twist."
"The Royals got to know about a traitorous knight trying to kill his master; a noble Baron, and sent men to apprehend him. However, they were too late, as three villages worth of peasants were killed, and the manor burnt to the ground. The Baron and his only child were also killed, and the dispatched troops brought back the corpses of the nobility to be buried in the Royal Palace."
"Who sent this message." Morgan's frown was so deep by this point that if he frowned any more, his lips would touch his chin.
"The Second Prince; Azril."
"Sh*t!" The bald Morgan cursed for the first time. Even while he was fighting a life-or-death battle and losing countless men, Kai had never heard him curse, but here it was.
"That power-hungry brat! Now because of his claims, the Royal Palace will be obliged to hunt me down when they find us." Morgan slammed the table in anger, causing the wood to creek under the strain, and the plates to clatter around.
"Well, they already know you are here. They know you entered the Bluestone Sect, and that you send a message bird to me. However, that does not matter since you are safe here. The Royal Family has almost no power within the Bluestone Duchy. Of course, if you can enter the territory of the Bluestone Sect as a worker, or better yet, a disciple, you will be completely safe." Aaron said as he turned his gaze towards Kai.
Kai just glanced back at him, with curiosity in his eyes.
"Of course, little Kai might also be able to join once he turns 10 years old."
"…Mr Aaron, are there Magi in the Bluestone Sect?" Kai hesitated for a few seconds before asking.
