"Yu," Yu answered to Hans, "My name is Yu."
"I see. And how old are you?" Hans continued asking as he began filling out a form, which was exactly the same as the one being filled out by another student in grey robes at the registration table where the line came to a stop.
"10"
"Gender?"
"Male"
"Nobility?"
"None?"
"So, a commoner. Alright. Occupation?"
"Attendant… I guess?" Yu mused to himself since he had only ever done attending once, and that was during this very trip to the Santok Mage tower.
"Servant"
"Can you remove the mask? I need to enter some notable facial features for easier identification." Hans asked as he turned around to face Yu.
"I doesn't come off. It has been fused with my face. Look." Yu turned his face away, showing the fused skin and mask at the edge of the mask.
"Alright then. Facial Features: White mask with no eye holes."
"Good. You can go ahead."
"What do I have to do?" Yu asked.
"You see that Shining stone on the ground there? It is called a High-Grade Mana Core which has been highly modified to serve this specific purpose. Throw a Drop of blood onto it, and the arrays around it will handle the rest. The core will light up in different colours to measure your affinities. The Brighter the light, the higher your affinity with that element."
"You can see a whole chart over there to signify the various elements and their light colours."
"Alright. Thank you, Hans." Yu bowed slightly and walked towards the crystal.
'Since the princess brought him here to actually get tested, I suppose his fate is similar to mine. Despite being her attendant, he is about to be thrown away if he does not have enough talent as a mage. All the best Yu,' Hans thought to himself as he handed the filled form to the disciple sitting at the desk.
"He is here to actually get tested. We will need to note down everything correctly, or else there will be very large issues rising in the future."
"I got this Hans. Leave it to me." The disciple in grey robes nodded to Hans, who smiled and left.
Yu walked up to the stone and used the fresh knife placed there to slightly prick his pinkie finger, and squeezed out a drop, allowing it to fall onto the core. After all, the pinkie finger was the least useful finger out of all the fingers since it did the least work.
Immediately, the core which was a pale blue colour turned dark orange for a few seconds, then green, blue, brown, silver, and then black. Although neither of the colours was really bright, and they did not last very long, the Grey-robed student in charge of noting down the affinities of students was stunned, similar to Hans who was just about to leave.
"L- Low 6 Elemental Talent!" Hans exclaimed, bringing the rest of the grey-robed disciples out of their shock.
Hans on the other hand also recovered from his shock and shook his head. Although Yu had six elemental affinities a very rare aspect, none of his affinities had a strong point; all of them were low talent.
This meant two things. One was that he could choose any of the six elements to begin his path as a mage since he had already met the qualifications to join the Mage tower the moment he got a single low elemental talent.
Second, was that his path as a mage would be incredibly slow, and he would only reach Rank 1 at the end of his life, most likely being forced to leave the tower after 6 years, and either dying on the battlefield as a Lone Mage or being used to by the Santok Empire as an item production unit.
Well, he would have to be sent to item production here at the Santok Mage if he joins us due to his low talent.
Hans himself had Medium Elemental Talent on Earth, and he chose that path immediately.
'Good luck, Yu.' Hans said to himself as he walked away, towards the princess to give his report.
"He had Low Elemental Talent in Fire, Water, Earth, Space, Death and Life Magic. He can join the tower; however, he will likely have to join the item production team here at the tower, and after 6 years of failing to reach Rank 1, he will be forced to leave." Hans told her everything.
"It is his decision. Not mine." Rachel shrugged while keeping an unchanging smile on her face.
Hans nodded and walked away, a few seconds later, he returned to the Princess with an irritated expression.
"He wants to join the Magic Tower."
"You told him everything?"
"Yes. He still wants to join."
"Then he will join. I will pay the Admission fees for all 6 years right now. How much is it?"
"Princess… Being part of the item production unit, his life will not be in immediate danger until he leaves the tower, and instead, he will be able to just get by, by using his earnings to pay for the admission fees."
"Then he will not have anything ask for special tuition now would he?" The princess asked with a tilted head.
"60 Low-Grade Mana crystals will do." Hans sighed once more and accepted the back on Mana crystals as he bowed to the princess once more before heading towards Yu.
"Congratulations Yu, you are now a disciple of the 3rd batch. Every two years or so, a new batch is selected and they will be the third batch. Once the current first batch leaves and a new batch is selected, you will become the second batch. For now, go to the side there and wait for the recruitment to finish. It will take a few days, so there is plenty of food there for everyone."
