Chapter 50 - Disciple

At the same time, Kai was waiting at the gates of the Bluestone Sect's testing facility. Unlike the Santok Magic Toer recruitment, there was no unorganised crowd here. Rather, there were four lines entering the gates at a steady and constant pace. In order to enter the line, you would need to collect a ticket from the ticket counter.

"5 gold is daylight robbery for just a single ticket! And what is with this rule? Only those below the age of 15 can enter. Who came up with this? Not just the Mage selections, but also for the knight selections!" Morgan complained softly such that only Kai could hear.

Aaron had naturally not arrived here since the arrival of a soon-to-be count would raise many eyebrows in this place. Plus, he was already a student here, so his bringing along people would force Kai to join his factions and affiliations in the Bluestone Sect.

"It is alright Pops. Just wait here. I'll go and join the Bluestone sect now." Kai said as he held his ticket and joined the two lines that went to the mage department of the Bluestone Sect.

'Sigh… I tried my best Owen… but it seems your son is set on his path to becoming a mage. At the very least, I got him to promise that he would not relent on his practices of becoming a knight, after all having a strong body was always beneficial.' Morgan lamented to himself as he saw Kai enter the gates, turning around and leaving after a few moments.

Along the way, Kai read instructions on the walls, which was a far more efficient way of doing things as compared to the recruitment process of the Santok Magic Tower.

Furthermore, unlike the Santok Magic Tower's process, here he was first meant to learn a rather complicated formula by heart before proceeding further.

Kai tried for a few seconds to learn it, but it was a lot harder than he expected. Just in case, he had the system take a recording of it before he sat down on the ground along with all the other youths wanting to join the Bluestone sect's mage division.

After about half an hour, Kai had successfully learnt it and was able to remember all of it, so he went forward to the next room.

This one had individual doors and instructions to enter any door with a flashing light in front of it. Entering another door would mean disqualification, so Kai followed and entered.

Inside, there was a single table with a single piece of paper with the word 'Write down the equation'. Kai wrote it down and double-checked it with the system to confirm it was correct before he walked through to the next room.

All of a sudden, Kai heard a voice in his mind.

'100% accurately recalled equation. Time taken: 37 minutes. Comprehension talent: Medium'

Hearing this, Kai nodded to himself. This was his true talent in terms of comprehension. He could have completed the trial using the system's record function in seconds, but he wanted to see what his actual talent in comprehension was, something that was not tested at the Santok Magic Tower. Besides, he was already going to learn magic from Yu, so there was no need to worry about not being able to get into the Bluestone Sect.

The next room had a tablet on which he placed his right palm onto it, the one without the Five Elephant Palm engravings on it.

Immediately, the stone tablet lit up and Kai heard the voice in his head once more.

'Low-Grade Elemental Talent in Fire, Water, Life, Death, Earth, Space. Medium Grade Elemental Talent in Blood.'

Hearing this, Kai was utterly shocked. Where did this new talent come from? And it was at Medium grade?! But Yu and himself were meant to be the same exact replicas with matching souls as well.

This could only mean one of two things; Yu and himself were more different than he thought, or the measuring system at the Santok Magic Tower did not have the ability to measure the blood affinity. However, the former was rather unlikely since all the rest of the affinities were the same.

Considering the fact that the colour corresponding to blood was not on the chart at the recruitment site at the Santok Magic Tower, it was rather obvious which possibility was more likely.

'Please enter your name, age and gender'

Kai was confused at first about how to enter these things, but as soon as he thought about it, they were accepted.

'Please select one of the following paths as a Mage of the Bluestone Sect:'

'Battle Mage of an element of your choice'

'Support Mage of an element of your choice'

'Item Production Mage'

'Can I select more than one?' Kai asked in his mind.

'Negative. You can only select one each year. After a year is complete, you can opt to continue this path or choose a different path.'

'Then I choose to be a battle mage.' Kai thought definitively in his mind. If he did not need this course, later on, he could switch it for something else once he got to know more about the sect in a year's time.

'Congratulations Kai. You are now a disciple of the Bluestone Sect. Please collect your items from the counter in front of you. You have the rest of the day to explore the Bluestone Sect. There will be Official Magi in all restricted areas of the Bluestone Sect. Other than such locations, you are free to go anywhere"
