"Don't look at me like that. This is all you have to do. Although it may sound stupid, it is a lot harder than you think."
Kai closed his eyes and sat down on the ground, and tried to stop thinking. Only to utterly fail at this because Yu was still alive and thinking, preventing him from not thinking about anything. The rest of Kai's magic training time was utterly wasted, as Kai stood up and went for Knight training.
Time slowly passed and the seasons changed for Kai. The snow melted and gave way to the bright sun, which was soon enough overshadowed once more. 2 years passed and Kai could definitely feel the change in time.
Meanwhile, Yu had the same predictable situation of learning how to be a 'proper attendant' to Princess Rachel. Although he knew everything there was to be an attendant, he was still never called upon to conduct his duties, and so he was continuously taught more and more knowledge about Royalty, nobility, the Santok Empire, and this world as a whole and its history.
Since Kai was recording everything with the system, Yu never had to even once go through the information for a second time, and after the system had recorded everything, Kai would go through the effort of instructing it to enter all the data into his mind such that he would not easily forget it.
On this day, as the sun rose and the same servant who had been coming to call him for on his first day had come to wake him up once more.
"Yu! Come on! The Princess has called for you personally! Looks like you can finally stop your lessons!" he said as he burst into Yu's room.
"Ben, how many times do I have to tell you to know before you enter," Yu grumbled as he got out of bed.
"Bah! I don't need to know to enter your room and in the same way, you don't need to knock to enter mine, friend."
"Friend? Since where were we, friends?" Yu questioned in a sarcastic tone.
"Since I saved your a*s from getting the punishment of a lifetime."
"But that is not how I remember it… You had clearly tripped and broken the Princess' favourite tea set. Back then, I stepped up to ensure that you would learn from your mistake, and that was the only reason you were not kicked out of the palace and thrown onto the streets." Yu recounted as he got ready and left the room, Ben following behind him while rolling his eyes.
As the two left, they reached the Princess' study, and knocked twice in a consistent manner as per the etiquette he was taught for a whole two years.
"Come in."
Yu turned to glance back at Ben before smiling and entering. Ben gave Yu two thumbs up for good luck before rushing off to do his daily chores. As a servant of the estate, he naturally had loads of things to do as his job description.
…
"Yu! After a whole two years, I can finally say with confidence that I have kept up my end of the deal. The Santok Mage Tower has finally announced its recruitment drive. I've already talked with Grace, but she is adamant about continuing her knight training. Do you wish to go to the Mage tower or stay here as an attendant?"
"Permission to speak completely freely," Yu asked.
"Granted."
"Well… You have kept me here doing absolutely nothing for a whole two years. I have not even seen you a single time throughout the years and was not given any work to tasks other than just learning etiquette. Once I had finished that, I was made to learn about the history of the Santok empire, then about the other Empires and Kingdoms, and then finally about this entire world. I can sufficiently say that I already know most of the library books which are available to us servants. So, I find no use in staying here any longer, since I am already 10 years old."
"…" Rachel was speechless at Yu's ranting and took a good minute to recover from her trance before she gave a few dry giggles and put on a smile as she regained her composure.
"Alright then. I suggest you change into more informal clothing. We will depart after lunch."
"Thank you, Princess." Yu bowed and left, returning to the dining hall for servants for breakfast, where no one was talking to him like normal.
In fact, it was only Ben who talked with him, which was another reason why they became friends. Apparently, Ben was also ostracised from the rest of these servants due to his status as an orphan commoner. Meanwhile, Yu was ignored since he was a slave.
Yu sat down with his food and began eating. The White Mask on his face popped off slightly from below the nose, allowing him to eat in peace.
After he was done, he put on the mask, which fused with his skin once more in some sort of magical way.
…
Meanwhile, Kai was also alerted from his meditation by Morgan, who came yelling with a piece of paper in his hands.
"The Bluestone Sect has begun its recruitment process for disciples again this year. Get ready! We need to be there as soon as possible!"
