Chereads / Moonwalker / Chapter 6 - THE TWO AGENDA MISSION

Chapter 6 - THE TWO AGENDA MISSION

Some time ago, a fellow moonwalker pleaded for leave, for a time to bury her mother who had just passed away. She was granted this opportunity, and she proceeded. At the day of the burial, Onelo spoke to her, that she had a mission to kill a man who had attended the burial. She reluctantly did as was told and returned to Alanor. She spoke to Onelo in rage, asked why she would make her kill a person during her mother's burial. Onelo revealed that the only reason she was permitted to see her mother one last time was because one of their targets was heading that way, and that's the only reason she could leave. Onelo said something that day, that the only time a moonwalker can rest is in the grave. A moonwalker never takes a break, and this totally brings in a paradox to everything happening to me right now, and what awaits.

In war, you use every single resources you can lay hands on to your advantage. Dilis was playing this game with the kingdoms he had taken for ally, or subjects in best definition.

ERUE BORDER.

The king of Gbagu, Rivis is in company of his forces of four hundred warriors and a hundred sorcerers. They camp very close to Erue border to rest and strategize. One of his generals is with him in his tent speaking,

"My king, it is very unlikely that we get to pass through Erue in one peace. Dilis will definitely use them against us, now that they're on his side."

Rivis responds,

"Gosha is one day away. All we need do is wait for them, and we march together through Erue. They would be scared to attack."

"What if the other kingdoms join Erue too?"

"It's a matter of time management. It will take a long time for them to get to us. By that time, the damage is done."

All of a sudden, they hear a great chaos coming from outside the tent.

"What is going on?" Rivis asks as he heads out along with the general, only to find their forces under attack by Erue.

"My king, you should head back in, I will send in warriors to protect you."

The king responds,

"I am no coward general, give me a sword."

A great battle breaks out, a severe clash between Erue and Gbagu. Arrows are fired massively, even fireballs. Sorcerers of Gbagu start using their magic against the enemy. One hits the ground and draws earth spikes from underneath, stabbing a lot of Erue forces. The war continues longer, with more lives being lost along the line.

ESINI.

Yunu and Kiri are sitting under a tree, still in the village, Yunu weeping for her mother. Kiri speaks,

"We have to leave this place, it's dangerous here."

"And go where exactly?"

"I don't know, maybe...look for father, he might be able to help."

Yunu is displeased by his suggestion, due to her ill feelings against her father.

"Are you out of your mind? You want us to go to that power drunk animal who has abandoned his family for months now to help us?"

Rona is close by, listening to them. She remembers watching her mother being raped by invaders, before her very eyes, right before her head was cut off. And then, she comes to Yunu and Kiri, surprising them.

"I will help you find your mother, but you will owe me. It's not a favour, it's business. Can we agree on that?"

This brings joy to Yunu and Kiri as they smile.

"It's a deal moonwalker..." Kiri says as Rona replies,

"Rona, Rona of Ti'gen. That is my name."

"I've heard that name before, the fearless and most beautiful moonwalker, the beast slayer."

"Do not exaggerate my capabilities. First, we start by gathering food for our journey."

"What journey? Where are we going?" Yunu asks. Rona replies,

"To the lion's den, we're going to Arida."

Meanwhile, Arida western borders are under attack by demons invoked by Kpoka sorcerers. Warriors fight gallantly side by side with sorcerers to defend the border. Words reach Galguntan of the attack and he invokes a portal which he walks through, arriving at the border. He meets the battle and is attacked by demons. He waves his hand and consumes them with fire. He closes his fist and crushes another with powerful telekinesis. And then, he travels again through a portal, arriving at the top of a mountain in Kpoka where he views the entire kingdom. He takes out a black substance and places it on his palm as he recites some incantations and his eyes turn black. The black substance begins to give off black smoke as he blows it into the air and immediately, a great plague hits the land. Galguntan smiles and speaks,

" How would you challenge us when you're too busy fighting a plague whose cure lies in the future of time?"

The demon attacks stop, and Kpoka people begin to suffer from a terrible plague.

Rona, Yunu and Kiri are on their way to Arida, beginning their journey. After walking through a forest for two hours, Kiri speaks in exhaustion,

"Why are we taking this long route exactly?"

"Because it's the safest right now. Hopefully, we'll be in Arida by next three months."

"Next three months?" Kiri says in shock.

The night comes and they take their rest. Rona hears a whisper in her sleep and gets up, only to find Onelo before her.

"Your new friends are fast asleep Rona, I've made sure of that," she says as Rona gets up and speaks,

"What are you doing here?"

"I am here to check up on my best student."

"I was never your best student."

"Yes, that I always told you. That's part of what makes you exceptional, the perfect person for the task at hand."

"What are you implying?"

"You are on your way to Arida, I have a mission for you there."

Rona grins, realizing what this is all about and speaks,

"Did you truly want me to go on a break? Or was it part of some other mysterious mission plan of yours?"

"Let us say fate has a way of leading a moonwalker to the right place at the right time. You have a mission, to kill the king of Arida. Bring his head to the alter of Luna as soon as possible, you have been timed."

All of a sudden, at the blink of Rona's eyes, Onelo is nowhere to be found. Yunu is partially conscious and asks,

"Who are you talking to?"

Rona touches her forehead and says a mystical word and she falls deeper into her sleep, leaving Rona to think of her new mission, to kill the devil himself.

ARIDA.

Galguntan barges into the throne room unannounced, forcing one of the guards to act. Galguntan casts a spell on him, choking him to death as Dilis speaks,

"What sort of madness is this Galguntan? Have you lost discipline?"

"My apologies my king. I am here to inform you of two things, one is good news and one is bad."

"Stop boring me and get straight to the details."

"I have singlehandedly stopped Kpoka forces with a plague."

"That I have heard of. Would you now tell me something that I haven't or have your eyes fed to the crows?"

"A moonwalker heads to Arida, she has been sent to kill you."

This interests Dilis who smiles and speaks,

"The moonwalkers have admired my work then. Why bring this to me? Can't you simply stop her yourself?"

"I am weaker around moonwalkers my king, but I still will do my best."

"I don't care about your best Galguntan, kill the moonwalker."
