Wearing a black shirt along with a red pencil skirt and a red coat over her slender shoulders Grana headed towards the government building by driving her small car. Although it was small, it was comfortable for her to use.
When Grana reached her table after scanning the fingerprint, a certain someone screamed like she had seen a ghost.
"Grana, you got married yesterday, didn't you? Then... then how could you come to the office in such a situation?" Meera's voice rang through the room.
Grana looked around worriedly before snapping at her bestie who had a loud voice. Grana often thought that Meera donated bells to the temples in her previous life. Otherwise, how could she own such a loud voice like a loudspeaker?
"Hush, Meera. What if someone hears you?"
Meera rolled her eyes nonchalantly.
"Who told you to keep your marriage a secret, Grana? Everyone should know that you married a business tycoon and he is such a pathetic man who couldn't satisfy his wife on their wedding night. Or else, how did you manage to come to the office the very next day?"
Grana's face flushed red in anger. She gritted her teeth before yelling at her.
"Meera, that's enough! It's a matter between me and my husband. You're just a friend of mine so please don't meddle in my business."
Grana regretted her words as soon as she finished talking. She knew how much her best friend cared for her like her biological sister. But here she was, yelling at her friend who loved her to bits. 'Pathetic' was the best word to describe Grana's situation at that moment.
Letting out a huge 'humph', Meera went away to her desk. Throughout the entire day until the lunch break, she never spared a single glance at Grana's direction much more to share a word with her. Grana felt suffocating when her friend gave her the cold shoulder.
Grana couldn't take it anymore. She took her lunch box out and forcefully sat face-to-face with her best friend. Meera didn't look at her and tried to go to another table to have her lunch when Grana spoke.
"Little Mee, I'm sorry for yelling at you."
There was no reply.
"I was feeling down so I vent my anger and stress on you."
Still no reply.
"Please, little Mee, forgive me okay?"
"Hmm..."
Grana's eyes lit up when she realized that her friend finally decided to speak to her.
"I want to go to a bar. Can you join me?" Grana asked in her most cheerful voice.
Meera sighed, looking at her friend with sympathy in her eyes.
"Grie, I told you not to marry him from the very beginning. Still... you didn't listen to me. You never listen to me. Grie, I can understand men more than most of the other girls because I had so many boyfriends for fuck's sake! When he looked at you during your wedding... I clearly saw... that... he didn't have love in his eyes. Not at all. Simply... he doesn't love you. Grana, can't you understand this simple thing?"
Grana let out a huge sigh.
"I know that he doesn't love me because... he has someone else in his heart."
Meera: "..."
She didn't know what to say. She just kept staring at her friend with her eyes widened. After a while, she finally found her voice.
"What the fuck, dancing duck, what did you just say?"
Grana giggled a bit before turning serious once again.
"You didn't mishear me."
"Girl," Meera blurted out in a loud voice. "What kind of a fucking man your husband is?"
Grana looked around, embarrassed.
"Hush, hush, Meera. Do you want to announce what we are talking about to others?"
"Oops." Meera also looked at the other tables shyly.
However, fortunately, others weren't paying attention to them as they were busy with food and their own talks.
"Don't blame him for not marrying her because she left him for someone else," Grana said after a while.
"The fuck!" Meera cursed again. "Then why can't he divert his attention to you and be a good husband? The fuck! He can just love you, right? You're beautiful, kind, smart and sensitive. If I were a man, I would also fall in love with you."
Grana's face brightened with a beaming smile when she heard her friend.
"Thank you, little Mee. But... You should also understand that love is a feeling. We can't force others to love us, right? He can't still move on from his ex-lover. But... I'm willing to give him a chance. I want to give this relationship a try. Let's see what happens in the future."
Meera shook her head, disappointed.
"Girly, you are so stupid and naïve. Don't waste your time on such trashy people like your good-for-nothing husband. I didn't like that life-destroying devil from the very beginning. I just want to give you one suggestion. You should simply divorce him and find someone who can cherish you, love you, protect y..."
Grana cut her off by saying, "Mee, I love him."
Meera choked on her saliva.
"Cough, cough, what did you just say?"
"You heard it correctly. I do love him. So I'm not gonna give up until I confirm that he doesn't love me."
"Ugh, this girl!" Meera let out a helpless sigh.
"What should we do now? Use a knife to cut open his heart and make a room for you to stay inside it?"
Grana blinked her eyes before bursting out laughing.
"Gosh, Mee! You're so creepy."
Meera shrugged her shoulders casually.
"Let's go to a bar and drink so that I can forget about everything. Do you join me?" Grana asked again.
"Of course, I'm gonna join you although you don't want me to go with you. But we should change our clothes. You should come to my home to change clothes. I have many clothes in your size. So don't worry about it."
She pondered for a moment before saying, "Aaah, one more thing, don't oppose my idea and go to your so-called husband's house to change clothes otherwise..."
She looked deep into Grana's eyes before giving her a warning. "I won't accompany you and that's final."
Grana chuckled nodding her head.
"Okay, don't worry. I'll definitely do as you said."
Later in the evening...
Julian reached his mansion after a full tiresome day. He directly went to his room and swiftly removed his sweaty business suit. After taking a warm shower, he went outside the room and searched everywhere, looking for a certain someone. When he couldn't find the person he was searching for, he simply went to his study room with a dark face.
An hour later...
Julian looked at the time on the wall clock. It was already 7 p.m. He knew that her work would end at 5 p.m. Then where did this woman go for god's sake?
He had already confessed to her that he had someone else in his heart. Hence, he wouldn't really mind if she had a secret lover outside.
But the thing was, as an obligation of a wife, shouldn't she call him and let him know where the heck she had gone? If she didn't want to give him a call, she could at least send a message, right?
Julian's blood boiled in anger when he thought in that way. At this exact moment, his phone started ringing, showing an incoming call.
Speaking of the devil, It was Grana!
