Noah felt better knowing that it was not his mind playing tricks on him but the effect of a monster which led him to that familiar path to his nightmares. From what he gathered from Bijan, he had several ways to deal with this beast.
It might be powerful and scary in their eyes but after what he just witnessed in his nightmare, his mind became clearer than ever. Even when he faced the Henwen on that dreaded cave, he was scared for a second but now he felt like he could do anything.
No, it was more precisely, it was his guilty consciousness which was filling his head with false bravado. After all, after that event when he lost Diana and wasn't able to save her because of his own stupidity he was ready to die.
He took on some of the most dangerous missions just to push himself over the jaws of death. After all, he fully felt he wasn't worth saving anymore. If there was an afterlife, he wanted to be together with her again but if hell truly existed, he might go there instead of heaven where Diana was.
He just wanted to get it over with but strangely that's what propelled his career to monumental heights. He wasn't just in the special forces, he was a special accountant who was sent to different parts of the world to help different sections of the army.
Within four years, he made so much name for himself that even their enemies would shudder hearing his name. Sometimes, he would deploy with other marines, seals or even green berets but after few years, he became a one man army.
He was in the force for few more years before he was ambushed by a human bomb during one of his mission. How he managed to come out alive still baffled his superiors to this day but it marked the end for his 'heroic' journey which meant all he had was his thoughts of mull over while he binged on snacks and let himself go.
But after arriving here, he started to get into his groove again. Not that he had another vivid look at his nightmares, he knew what he needed to do. It was what he did best, solve some of the worst problems by coming up with his own solutions.
Even now, his mind was racing with possibilities and after Bijan concluded his monologue about the big bad wolf, he knew what he had to do. It was bit of a risk but he was ready to take a chance if it meant saving his team along with villagers. It could become his parting gift to Mera who he came to like over these past few weeks.
He was thankful that he was given a chance, even when those so called higher entities messed up and brought him to this world, he was never in the mood to return to his old self. But with this mission in front of his eyes, he finally found a perfect way out. He might die but he would beg and plead, even sacrifice his soul if that's what it took for him to get back to where Diana is.
He would have liked Nova's input but sadly that damn thing was still asleep. He looked at the kids than at Cyra and Bijan before nodding. He didn't say anything only telling them to maintain as much distance as possible from the cave.
First he summoned few things that might be useful. It would use all his summoning slots but it was a do or die situation. If he was correct, he would be successful but if his trick failed to work he knew what awaited him.
Everyone looked at him as he walked toward the cave while carrying few things. A long metal tube which looked much more sophisticated than the firearms along with something to cover his face. What he wanted to do was simple.
First lure the monster out and test whether it's eyes would become a problem for him or not before frying the thing to smitterins with a single blow. He summoned a special glass, the one that colour blind people use to see bright colours.
His theory was he wouldn't be able to see the glowing red eyes if he somehow changed the light spectrum which could mess up Alpha Canis' unique magic. He didn't know if it would work or not but he had to go with his gut feeling.
He also summoned few ear plugs, the best in the industry. If that magic was somehow connected to soundwaves, he would be protected. He still didn't truly understand the source of magic but he felt like it could somehow be explained by his old world's science.
Next thing was a protective suit, something that could at least take one hit so that he wasn't sliced in half just from approaching that thing. From how Bijan described it, even the best armour on earth wouldn't be able to take two hits of it's sharp claws but he had to try. He did want to die but more than that, he wanted to be ready for anything.
The metal tubing was a highly advanced rocket launcher, it was light around four kilograms with some extra rockets in case he missed the first shot. He only had three chance, it might take two of all three to defeat the beast but he wanted to at least weaken it enough that others could finish it or even call Flame Emperor to kill the weakened beast.
He first thought about just collapsing the damn cave but decided against it. He didn't know if this was the only entrance or there were many entrances so he couldn't take such risk. He didn't want to leave it to chance so he decided to face it head on.
Standing in front of the cave's entrance, he began to feel his whole body tensed up again which was a sign. He took few long breadth before crossing the threshold, he didn't want it to come outside because it would be hard for him to hit the target without utilizing the confined space.
Seeing the ominous red glow again, he readied himself taking the familiar stance with his rocket on his shoulder ready to fire. Even he was charmed again, he wanted to at least get a hit before the magic took effect.
