Chapter 75 - How is that possible?-3

*Boom*

A loud explosion rang out in all direction. The destructive power was several times more than the grenade. Noah knew he couldn't let his guard down, he loaded up another round and took aim at the ball of flame that was the wolf which was struggling as it fur seemed to caught fire.

Noah knew he wasn't faring better but he kept bombarding it with everything he got, bullets, sniper rounds and even some stray grenades. Maybe because of adrenaline that was coursing through his veins but his reaction time seemed much faster than normal.

" Die Fucker! Fuck you!" He cursed out profanities along with the bullets venting out all his frustrations. He never feared anything but in this strange world there were monsters that seemed adapt to giving him nightmares. He hated those events as it was bane of his existence, he never thought when he came here he would be reminded of it again, EVER!

Maybe because his previous grievances were spilling out of maybe it was self guilt of him not being able to save Diana but he didn't care. Since the Alpha Canis couldn't control his mind through it's weird mind magic, he just wanted to burn the motherfucker to crisp!

What felt like hours was actually just minutes since he walked away from Cyra and the group. With the threat neutralized, his body started experiencing the withdrawal as he staggered a little dropping the rifle on the ground to take some deep breaths.

Meanwhile, Bijan who saw the whole scene unfold before his eyes was shocked beyond belief. He really wanted to run away leaving Noah behind but seeing what he achieved filled him with some hope.

" How is that possible?" He exclaimed but no one heard him. Cyra along with the kids were already rushing toward Noah without a care in the world. Cyra was following the kids who couldn't bear to watch their 'teacher' go through with it alone.

Seeing his haggard appearance from afar, they knew what they needed to do and readied up their weapons for any unexpected danger. They would never forgive themselves if they decided to turn tails now.

Cyra on the other hand knew that she wouldn't be able to look Noah in the eyes if they failed to honor his last wish. No matter what happened, she vowed to protect the kids even if it meant risking her own life.

She had heard Bijan describe the danger of facing the ferocious beast but she was confident in holding it back for some time if it survived leaving ample time for kids to run away. Maybe Noah really killed it? But they wouldn't know until the dust settles.

Noah used the rifle to keep himself steady. He could still see the beast's bright red eyes but soon it began to fade and after few more second completely dimmed out meaning that he was finally able to kill it.

The first risky rocket perfectly hit it's belly, blowing up it's intestines while the other two miraculously hit it's hind legs. He knew from dealing with mutated wolves that most of their momentum came from those strong legs, they would charge using it as a springboard making it hard for naked eyes to see it's movements.

Maybe he was just lucky or gods that brought him here were watching over him, nonetheless with the immediate threat down he finally let himself go as his body fell to the ground. He wasn't unharmed, a blast from such a close radius did leave substantial burn all over his exposed skin but it wasn't life threatening, with some rest he knew he would be fine the next day.

Just when he thought of protecting his head from the fall, a slender pair of hands stopped his tumbling body. He just looked up to see Cyra's worried face. He gave her a weak smile and said," I will leave the rest to you. I am going to sleep for a while."

Those were his last words as he lost consciousness. This seemed to become a common occurrence for him still he didn't regret his decision. He half expected to be transported to that weird dimension but it seemed Nova was still asleep and without him, he didn't have any connection to that higher plane.

The kids quickly gathered around him, worry evident on their faces. He was wearing a sturdy armour which managed to stop few sharpanel from piercing his vitals but they could see few stuck on his cheek. Some even manage to get through the weakest part of the gear which was there for mobility.

" We have to remove them or else it would get infected!" Julia was first to remember his training. He didn't just taught them how to kill but also taught them how to do first aid if they were ever hurt during 'missions'.

Two members shared one kit as he wanted them to move in group. Beside, he didn't have much slots to summon more because they needed weapons rather than survival kits.

" I should carry him. Should we walk inside the cave?" Jake helped Cyra as he was the strongest and biggest one in their group.

" We shouldn't go inside. There could be more of them in there. Let's head back to our base camp, we have most of our supplies there." Milo suggested. Since they began training, Noah knew that Milo was the most sensible among the group but he liked to hide his abilities, he never asked him for the reason but he did talk to him privately telling him not to waste his talents. Since Tang wasn't here and their leader was down, he decided to follow his advice and take up the captain's role.

" What should we do about that?" Cody asked.

" Just leave it here. I will ask my brother to dismantle the useful parts but I don't think there are much left after the fire." Cyra smiled seeing their resilience. She didn't know if it was Noah's doing or these kids were just that amazing but they stayed calm and collected discussing among themselves before doing anything rash.

Bijan soon joined them and was left the task to dismantle the monster. He was still afraid to approach it but seeing that it had lost it's signature red eyes, he was at least safe from being controlled by it. It made sense to leave this task to him since he knew everything about the monster.

With only few more hours of daylight remaining, the group made it's way up the high cliff toward the empty clearing on top of the cliff. They would leave the surveying of the cave for tomorrow when Noah regain consciousness.
