" The cave? Is it dangerous?" Cyra asked curiously. Noah told them about his plan to clear the cave and turn it into their base of operations.
" I don't know. I did feel a strong presence but we didn't get a chance to explore because.." Noah paused for a second reminiscing about last day's event.
" We were ambushed. If Mr Noah didn't arrive in time, we would be dead." Julia finished his sentence.
" It was hell! Tang was injured which only made things worse. They had over thirty people firing erratically, we held them back somehow until they arrived." Jake grumbled. He still remember the smoke, the scent of blood and the ear piercing sound reverberating out eardrum.
" What happened next? I had seen their weapons it looks nothing special." Bijan shrugged.
Thirty or hundred, it didn't matter to him. With his abilities he knew he could stop these weapons. It was only his carelessness that led to his defeat against Noah.
He was there when people were interrogated, the firepower was much inferior to what Noah was using.
" Then we heard a loud explosion. I didn't know what they were doing but Milo and leader radioed in about something much powerful than what they were using. After which there were many more explosion." Julia added.
" The lush forest turned into a sea of fire with constant loud roars. I never seen or heard anything like that before. All the enemies...were gone. Like they were hit by lightening or something. It was already turning dark so put down the fire and returned home. That's when we were captured without any explanation." Milo finished the story in a serious tone.
Cody was visibility shaking remembering what he witnessed that day. It was safe to say no one would have readied them to see so much blood and dismembered body parts.
The scent of burning hair and body parts was something that would stick to him for a long time. Noah tapped his shoulder showing one of his rare comforting gesture.
" It's alright. I had a backup plan, a more powerful weapon that I could just throw at them. It's something I prepared in case of emergency. They are made with the same black material which were used to ignite their flintlocks."
" Flintlock?"
" That's the name of their weapons. It's the crude version of what we are using. They are easier to produce and are lethal in moderate distance. But that's not why I used my trump card." Noah sighed letting it all out.
He knew they would soon be facing them again. He had to tell them more about what they could expect from someone with primal hit weapons technology.
" The things that injured Alastair...They had one too. A large black metal tube, it would be about two or three arms length entirely made up of cast iron. They are used to shoot large round balls a similar replica to what they were using to fire the flintlocks. They have enough force to split few bodies in half if they were standing in a line. Even with Alastair's sturdy physique and his trusty shield it would have surely brought him on the brink of death in a single thought."
" Why didn't you tell this to others? I heard Mera and Elders questioned you about it? Why are you telling this to us now?" Cyra squinted not knowing his real intentions of dissolving such vital informations.
Even the kids were dumbfounded hearing him detail these weapons. Was there really any truth about him being a spy?
" I just want everyone to be ready for what we are about to face. The reason why I didn't tell others was simple, they would never believe me. I tried to reason with them but they simply turned me down. They had already made up their minds to lock me up and Mera was too worried about her father's intentions to care about anything else." He said while shaking his head.
" I see." Cyra started thinking more about it. She did remember everyone was on edge because of the ambush but it was too hasty seeing them act to imprison Noah who did nothing to arise such suspicion.
Was she thinking too deep about it or was someone hiding something? She took a mental note to investigate more about it.
" Are you sure these weapons are rhat powerful? Can I block them?" Bijan was in disbelief, he didn't want to admit he would lose to a bunch of ordinary people!
" I urge you not to be cocky. There are many things you don't know about, if you keeping acting like a punk sooner or later someone would bury you in the dirt which would be ironic since you also have power to manipulate the ground." Milo unexpected illuminated the conversation with his mature wisdom.
Noah could only smile because the kid took the words out of his mouth. No matter how powerful one became, there was always someone stronger.
He personally felt the presence of higher beings, they viewed lower planes like ants which was evident from their tone. It was especially jarring when he considered their speech was monotone. How the hell they convery their disdain for lower beings through such tone was beyond him?
" Cheeky bastard-"
" Stop, are you going to hit a kid? Have you stoop so low after your defeat?" Cyra remarks cut his ego like paper.
" I didn't lost...It was just..i was caught off guard?"
" Really? You were in bed for whole week before you could even take a step! That's a humiliating defeat! Stop acting like a child!" She roared.
Her anger was something others saw fornthe first time. They secretly vowed to never cross her in the future.
" Now that we know everything. What are we going to do next? The cave or something else?" She turned to look at Noah for answers. He did make ot clear of they wanted to follow him, they had to follow his every word and command.
" Let's head to the cave first."
