Because the village was situated at the mountain top, there was no easy to enclose the whole area. There were several passageway out of the small town that were too dangerous for normal people to traverse.
Naoh who had been living here for couple of weeks knew most of the terrain, it was just how his mind worked. He had long since thought about an escape plan in case of emergency.
When Alastair first brought him here, he thought about leaving after recuperating his injuries because he didn't want to intrude on them but things just got out of hand ever since the first attack.
The narrow passage at the back of the mountain was perfect as their escape route because the hills were too steep with minimal fauna which meant there wouldn't be place for monsters to hide.
He had a plan, it's to hide out in the ferocious wolf's territory for few days until his injuries were healed. Since it's only been a day, no other species of monster would encroach on the land fearing for wolf's wrath.
He also felt it was necessary for him to check out that ominous cave. If something was living there, he needed to wipe it out and make that place his base of operations for a while.
They walked in silence with Noah leading the way. The kids also looked dejected and tired wondering if they made the right choice while Cyra and Bijan covered the rear always alert for any incoming attacks.
They were whispering to each other but Noah didn't know what they were discussing. When they reached the cliff he ordered everyone to halt.
" We will make camp here. This place is far enough from the village also the height would keep any dangerous mosnters at bay but we have to set up a perimeter."
" Are you sure? There are no trees here what if it rains? What of someone spots us from a far? This place is too open to defend, we will have a cliff to out back with out only chance of escaping would be to fight our enemies head on." Cyra exclaimed. This was the most unreliable place to camp in her opinion.
" You are right but I will set up some traps and we can hide around these bushes for cover." He didn't explain much.
" You never answer how we will sleep if it rained?" She glared at him almost certain he was hiding something.
Noah knew he wouldn't be able to hide his abilities. Now that they were on their own, they would surely question about things appearing out of thin air.
" Fine. Gather everyone up. We are going to have our first group meeting." He said with a sigh.
Everyone was curious about why he looked so dejected all of a sudden. He stood at the centre so that they could have full view of his body. It was so they wouldn't think he was playing tricks on them.
" First of all, I told you that my power is different from other sorcerers. I don't know whether there is someone with same power as me." He looked at their confused faces.
" So what is it? your power?" Bijan was very curious. He had traveled to several islands but he had never seen anything quite like his peculiar weapons.
Same with Cyra, she was already suspicious about his abilities as it didn't match any preconceived notions of being a sorcerer.
" I don't know what I am capable of but it's strange. I have certain knowledge about different things that I can conjure once a day. Only little things but it adds up over several days. Look." Noah extended his hands and pulled out several camping gears and tents.
He wanted to set up in a high place to avoid monsters while keeping away any prying eyes. He knew he never explained the success or failure of their mission so they might not be aware about the extermination of mutated wolves.
He wanted to clean the remaining corpse and check out the cave which would become their shelter for the night.
He went on to explain everything but didn't specify the extent of his ability and the weight restraint associated with it. He also didn't mention that he could do this five times a day.
It was vital for him to have more trump card in case of emergency. The camping gears were light and durable, it's not like he was paying for anything so he summoned the most advanced version after which he also pulled several more MRE and gears that they could use to cook.
It took two full slots so he had three spare for the day. They gathered around as he explained how to use the equipments. Everything was new to them, from matchstick to gas powered stove. They were as magical as the weapons they were use to carry.
" This...this is amazing! It's perfect for travelling." Bijan couldn't help but exclaim in admiration. He knew how rough traveling in the wilderness was, all the things Noah pulled out directly eliminated each issue they would have faced. There was also bug spray and several other things that no one had heard of before.
" Useful and pretty too. There are also weird symbols etched onto them. Are they magic scriptures? I heard there was a way to use those to conjure specific spells." Cyra commented.
" It's not like that. These are letters of that civilization who produced these things. I think they are ancient but I am not sure." Noah commented.
Ancient civilizations was a nice touch considering these islands hold immense history related to god's interference. At least he wouldn't be look as someone outside this world!
The kids were silent but soon they also began to ask questions. Noah was patient and explained everything.
He also gave them reasons why everyone suspected them as their weapons were a lot similar to his. He flat out told them, they mist have gotten some inheritance from the same civilization but unlike him, they had to handmade everything.
With that the immediate concern of the group was over. Now, they had to think about their next move!
