Chapter 2 - Someone had eyes on her.

"Hold on, let me take this call. I'll be back okay" Jennifer said as she excused herself before walking to the side to take a call.

All of a sudden, Sasha caught sight of a couple nearby—it was Adam and Mabel. A stab of pain assailed her and didn't know what to say or do at the moment.

"Sasha, what a coincidence to bump into you here. Did you come to have lunch? Thank God! I was worried about you." Mabel clutched Adam's arms tightly while glowering at Sasha.

Sasha furrowed her brows and turned to leave right there and then, but someone grabbed her arm. "Sasha"

Sasha shot daggers at Adam. "Let go!" She wanted to fling his hand away, but he held her arm tightly.

"We have to talk!" Adam said.

Sasha looked up into Adam's eyes. "Why not? Follow me" She snorted.

Mabel tugged at Adam's arm with a sad expression just when he was about to follow Sasha.

"It's alright." Adam with a faint smile pried Mabel's hand off him.

Sasha felt heartbroken and looked at Adam as if he was a criminal. "Have you no shame, Adam? We've been together for over five years, not five months. What did I do that was so wrong that you have to do this to me?." She teared up but tried her best to hold her tears back.

"So I'm the one at fault here, huh? Not you?" Adam's expression changed.

"What are you saying?" Sasha rebuked in a booming voice as she stalked toward him.

The corners of his mouth curved into a sneer, "Do you even care about my feelings? You are always busy with...I know it's too much for you. But I am just tired of this relationship."

"Hey! Adam" Sasha roared.

"You must think that you are all that, but don't be mistaken. You get scared after spending a few cents. Would I have dreamt of a future with someone like you?."

Feeling as if she had plunged into an endless abyss from heaven, Sasha said, "Alright. You could have told me straight up, Adam. I wouldn't have clung onto you." Sasha was a mess of tears when she was done speaking.

For a moment, he couldn't quite hold his head up, and guilt crept into his gaze. He shut his eyes briefly before he opened them again. "You've got a lot of pride issues and you should work on it." Adam drawled as he turned to leave.

With a dejected look, Sasha leaned against the wall and slid down to the ground. She sat on the ground, her arms around her legs. She curled up, and the patch of fabric on her knees darkened from her tears.

Her phone suddenly rang. When she saw the caller ID, she sniffled in an attempt to make herself sound calmer. "Jenni, I am in the washroom right now. Just wait there for a minute".

Sasha roamed her eyes around. For some reason, she felt as if someone was looking at her, making her skin prickle. She frowned, not liking the feeling. A moment later, she stopped staring around and limped away.

The driver looked at the man in the backseat of the car. "Director, Should I drive to the parking lot, or will you be getting off here?"

After the petite lady had faded from his sight, Ryan Shore brought his attention back to the car and smiled, tapping his knee rhythmically. "Let's head back to Blues Villa."

The driver dared not make any moves until the man in the backseat gave his order.

"Wake up and have something to eat, Sasha"

Sasha pulled the covers over her head, not in the mood to say a single word, much less eat.

Yanking the covers off her, Jennifer glared at Sasha huffily.

"Sasha Jones, Is it worth abusing yourself for a scumbag?"

"But Whatever he said was true. I have no future, but I have even less of a present." Sasha mumbled.

Sitting down beside me, Jennifer gave me a comforting hug. "What are you saying? You are the coolest person I ever met."

Jennifer broke the hug. "You'll find someone a thousand times better than him! At that time, he'll regret losing you," Jennifer asserted as she stared right into Sasha's eyes.

When Sasha came out of the room, the doorbell rang and she heard Jennifer's voice from the kitchen asking her to open the door.

She walked to the door and opened it. But when she saw the man who was standing outside, a shiver of unease ran down her spine.

She recognised the man - Jennifer's cousin Ryan Shore. He was an elusive figure who had never once appeared in any magazine or on the news, but he was an existence that could not be replicated nor surpassed. The black suit Ryan wore was painstakingly tailored to his lean and muscular frame, accentuating his broad shoulders and perfect silhouette.
