Chapter 3 - A job offer.

"Sasha, You crazy!" Sasha grumbled inside her mind. Her face reddened slightly when a scene flashed in her mind.

Jennifer was dumbfounded when she saw Ryan on the couch languidly crossing his leg. He stood up with a small smile when Jennifer came out of her room.

"Ryan!" Jennifer squealed excitedly as she jumped on him in excitement, hugging him tightly. "Did you come here empty-handed?" Jennifer said with a smile, pulling away from the hug to look at Ryan thoroughly.

"Later!" Ryan flicked her forehead.

"Oh, this is my best friend, Sasha. I see that you've already met her." Jennifer said.

Ryan's lips curled into a weak smile; his eyes fixated on Sahsa and said, "Seems like your friend is very quiet." His voice was deep and a little husky, and when he spoke, it was as if the rest of the world melted into the background.

Sasha's eyes rounded and locked eyes with him, and shuddered when she saw how his eyes resembled a deep and endless sea, like dark whirlpools that threatened to pull in and drown you with one look.

Jennifer looked at Ryan and then gave Sasha a nudge.

"Thank you for last night." Sasha slightly bowed down.

"Oh, right, Ryan, I am going to stay here for a month. So, make some time and hang out with me." Jennifer changed the topic upon sensing the awkward atmosphere in the room.

"Alright!" Ryan nodded his head.

"You always say that but you never make time for me." Jennifer scoffed.

Ryan, on the other hand, was appraising Sasha the whole time Jennifer was talking, although he could only see the crown of her head.

An idea struck Jennifer as she clapped her hands and continued, "Ryan, Can you please hire my friend Sasha in your company?." Jennifer said, making Sasha shoot her eyes up to look at her in surprise and confusion.

"Do you have any form of qualification?" Ryan asked.

Sasha was going to chime in, but Jennifer quickly shut her up by pinching her arm. "Yes. She graduated with honours from the university where she studied commerce."

"Then I guess your friend just found herself a job" Ryan announced.

Sasha was thunderstruck by that announcement. She couldn't believe her ears. She must be hearing things right?

Sasha wanted to turn the offer down, but her voice had left her when her eyes met Jennifer's sharp ones.

"That's great. You are the best" Jennifer stated.

Ryan rose to his feet and then left for work when his phone rang.

With the conversation finally ended, Sasha went completely limp as she slumped against Jennifer on the couch. "Jennifer, I am so grateful but....."

Looking at the lady angrily but warily, Jennifer said, "Sasha, Am I not your friend? Please let me help you".

"You helped me a lot. But I will manage. You don't have to do this for me" Sasha said.

Immediately, Jennifer shot her a scorching glare, and her expression darkened. "Sasha, I will end my friendship with you if you turn down this."

----------

The next morning Sasha was both ecstatic and nervous about her job. She couldn't sleep a wink last night as she was too anxious. She walked over to the bus and checked the bus schedule.

She alighted the bus and looked at the time. After walking for five minutes, Sasha let out a breath as she stood in front of the gigantic building. Her heart rate was way above its normal range.

After entering the company, Sasha had her eyes travel around a little to the entrance of the company. The men who walked by the place wore long-sleeved suits with polished loafers. The women wear formal dresses that look expensive and high heels which made them look more graceful and charming. Sasha saw her current appearance from the glass reflection of the building. She only wore a regular shirt with her faded black formal pants. She was too nervous as she rubbed her palms on her pants.

"Hopes everything is well." Sasha prayed under her breath while clasping her hand to a prayer stance across her chest.

She then walked up to the young and pretty lady about her age who was typing away on the computer on her desk, at the reception.

"Good morning, my name is Sasha Jones and I have an appointment with the Director's secretary Clark Haskett," She said with a polite smile.

"Welcome Miss. Please wait for a moment." The receptionist replied with a smile as she picked up the intercom to call the Director's office.

And it did not take time for Mr Haskett to come. "Hi, Miss Sasha, it's nice to meet you again" Clark greeted.

Sasha slightly felt embarrassed but she maintained a smile.

"This way please." He spoke and led Sasha to the elevator.

"This is Sasha Jones and she'll be working with you from today" Clark announced as soon as they walked into the vast office space which was designated for the Marketing department.

Sasha took a deep breath to calm her rapidly beating heart. She took a step forward and introduced herself, "I'm Sasha Jones, Please take care of me."
