'It is already a month since I started living here'
Eric was slowly and soundlessly walking through the forest while thinking about various things. He had a jacket from wolf skin that was warming him. Slyde was wrapping around his shoulders while watching his every action. They were training. After a month of living in the forbidden forest, Eric had to learn how to survive.
He needed to learn many things at the start since he was awful at survival in the wild. When he needed to hide. How to understand when there is a predator nearby. How to hide properly. How to climb trees. He tried to learn as much as he could. Every time he did something wrong Slyde would immediately correct him. After so much time they spent together they connected quite wonderfully and understood each other's thoughts even before saying something.
At the start every time Eric saw any animal he had the instinct to rush up and try to kill it without any plan. Although Slyde tried to tell him otherwise, it was not like he listened when he felt he could do something.
But after some day or two without being able to hunt even the smallest animal he had to start listening to the tips that Slyde told him. And with that, his training started.
Every morning he woke up and had to run with heavy rocks on him. After that from what Eric guessed was 8 am. He started his daily training that changed from day to day based on what Slyde thought was needed to learn for him.
Ranging from climbing trees with only one hand to learning how to walk on branches of the biggest trees without alerting anyone. Although he was not sure if it would help him while hunting he just did what Slyde thought was needed. He was sure Slyde would not do anything bad to him and had complete trust in him.
The only weird thing about Slyde that bothered Eric was Slyde's brains. After all, Snake knows so much while not living for so long based on the size. He knew many methods of hunting that were useless for the snake.
'Although I tried asking about that, he just said that it's not important. My parents told me that when someone says something like that it often means that they are not comfortable talking about something. I just tried to respect that although it was throbbing in the back of my mind.'
-------------
{Hey, Slyde. I wanna go hunting for some bigger animals like wolves. I think I am ready for it.}
{SSSSsssssss. Ohh you were indeed training for little less than a month. I think you can try but it may still be really difficult. There is always a risk in every hunting because something unpredictable may happen like a bigger group suddenly appearing to help. That's especially possible with wolves. But go for it.}
'Yayyyyy. Finally, I wanted to use my newly gained power and techniques for some time. And I still remember how those wolves tried to kill me when I first entered the forest. Thankfully Slyde was there at that time to save me. Otherwise, my trip would end there. I will take revenge on those wolves and then, maybe I should go to the orphanage to kindly meet them again.'
Eric and Slyde packed all the things they needed for the hunt. Eric took his Wolf set that kind of looked like it was from the primal stage. But he was proud of it. It was his armor that he made himself. And he looked a little cool in it. His muscles started to show after a month of training. He also noticed that when he was tired and ached after training the warm energy he now called Magic always came and healed him and strengthened his muscles a little. Speeding up his training every time.
Slyde was always wrapped around Eric's shoulders and neck without affecting his movement at all. He also grew a little from the previous 50cm long snake he was now around 70cm. He now had dark sparkly green skin all over him. On his head was a blue line that was ranging from head to tail. It looked like the center of his whole body connecting everything in him. He was looking around watching for any possible danger while having already prepared Core magic in his mouth ready to fire at any moment. His Core magic also evolved a little. Previous light green balls that could easily poison a wolf now, had the assumed power of poisoning a big bear.
Of course, Slyde was still helpless to fight any other Magical beast. But the magical creatures were quite rare in the area they were training in. So they were mostly safe.
As they went hunting Eric used one of the techniques he learned thanks to Slyde and was his most used and practiced one. They named the skill Silent step.
It meant what it sounded like. He used the sound of the wind to cover up his steps. The breathing of the prey makes them unable to hear him if he walks in the rhythm of their breath and his. Combining the prey's breath and he makes it a great skill that can effectively hide the sound.
It's a perfect skill for hunting to say.
They slowly made their way towards the direction Slyde heard some sounds. As they were nearing the prey they could already see it from behind the trees. Eric fastly used the Silent step to not be discovered and make plans based on the surroundings and the number of enemies.
There were two wolves. Similar to the ones that tried to kill him at the start. He was quite sure it was them. That made this hunting even more satisfying for him. He slowly picked up a bone dagger from his jacket that was sharpened many times while learning with Slydes.
I slowly made my way behind them. It looked like they were currently resting. Perfect time for me to strike. But I was careful. I unhurriedly and soundlessly climbed the tree behind them still using the Silent step skill.
As I was right above them hanging on the branches. My dagger was ready to immediately cut the neck of a wolf. The first wolf I picked to be killed was the one nearest to the branches so I could immediately hide right after that.
So I jumped down from the branch.
While I was in the air the time seemed to slow down.
At that moment a memory surfaced again.:
Three wolves looking at me.....
The feeling of being powerless...
Being toyed with...
Almost being killed without a chance to do anything.....
At that moment corners of my mouth turned dangerously up. My deep blue eyes before calm and serious like waves of the biggest ocean. Were now sparkingly blue with a shady of craziness.
My whole face morphs to the extreme. My whole face radiated craziness. My eyes showed the same insanity as the eyes of some serious psychic patient.
The anger I had all the time inside me was let out. As I was one meter above the wolf, my killing intent surged. It felt like transforming into a bloody killer that will kill anything and anyone. My thoughts screamed that I was born to kill. The feeling was horrible but also like letting out my true self.
The magic that before always felt warm was now cold like a life reaper. Magic spread all over my body in the instant. Every cell of my body felt the power, I have never felt before. The dagger gained such momentum that it seemed to break the air and sound. An invisible airwave went with the dagger.
The dagger instantly cut through the neck of a wolf in an instant as I landed on wolf. My body reacted on its own and jumped back inside the bushes. The difference being one wolf was now lying in a pool of blood. And the other wolf instantly noticed his partner dying. Only the dagger was bloodied not a single drop of blood touched me.
I subconsciously activated Silent step and went to the tree right next to the wolf. The wolf still confused at what was happening couldn't notice me with my ability being activated + the magic inside my body made me more than two times faster than usual. The muscle memory of my training all day hard for a month made my body remember every movement I would need during a killing.
It was everything that was needed for me to cut the neck of the second wolf with enough momentum to generate an airwave once again. The corpse fell to the ground with some of the blood splashing on my face.
The moment I killed them both I felt something coming to me. My magic was being strengthened by the corpses of wolves. Something like a soul leaving its body and slowly improving the quantity of magic in my body. While I couldn't exactly feel the amount of magic I had. The usage of magic made me faintly feel the improvement.
As I slowly regained rationality a realized what happened.
"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!"
