Chapter 9 - Arriving at London!

As I slowly regained consciousness I looked around myself. It was morning the sun was quietly shining on me. The sky had some white clouds slowly moving here and there. It was a great view. The beautiful sounds of fighting were like music to my ears.

'Wait! Sounds of fighting?' I immediately looked once again around me and there it was.

Slyde was currently fighting a hoard of wolves. These weren't some normal wolves. They were around 2 meters big. There were almost 10 of them! 2 of them were already fighting Slyde as he was dodging and sending a fast sickly green magic orb at his every move.

As Slyde was busy fighting I started realizing the situation. The wolves already surrounded us completely. They definitely did not want to let us escape alive.

Then the wolf behind me unexpectedly jumped and went towards my neck. As I heard the sound of his legs using force on the ground I turned around. Just at the time to see him with an open mouth.

My injury from the train, which I hadn't had the time to examine, may have been the cause, but my reaction was quite slow. Although still times greater than normal humans but far from enough to dodge the attack.

As he was about to bite me on the neck I tried to activate my dark magic to resist and even deal some damage to him.

But I couldn't. It felt like I was too exhausted to use my magic. My body which was always feeling so full of something was suddenly somewhat empty. I was now seriously worried.

'Is this how I am going to die?' I somewhat calmly thought inside my head. It was weirdly calm even though I was probably gonna die in a few seconds or at least be near it.

'Why do I feel calm? It's like death isn't that scary anymore. Did I kill too much that I somewhat accepted death? No, it isn't that.....' I pondered for some time. But it wasn't even a part of a second outside. 'Is it because of the void again? No, it should not be void. It feels like I know something is protecting me and I will not die to any of these inferior wolves. What can it be? What is it that I trust somewhere deep inside me to save me?'

I slowly watched the wolf-like he was in slow-motion. Like everything was in slow motion. I heard the sounds of the birds more vividly than ever before. The sound of the wind slowly going around me as if it knew something is happening here. My crazy nature that always appeared when I was in danger or near some dangerous creature didn't appear. It felt weird. Everything felt weird. The world suddenly lost its color. Everything that before looked so interesting suddenly looked so irritating. There was only one thing that had colors. It was a snake.

It was the same snake I spent little more than a year with every day. It was Slyde. The friend I trusted the most. The creature that was the closest to me. He was currently looking into my eyes while the world was still. There seemed to be a little white thread connecting us. As time slowly passed the thread was starting to get thicker. My body was feeling warmer, Slyde must have passed something on to me.

Like some instincts being turned on.

I somehow felt that there was something everywhere around me. It felt similar to normal magic. But it was more of a natural magic. It was floating all around. I couldn't exactly sense it but it was there. I never met something like that. It was different from my normal magic. It was more natural than everything else.

I felt like I could understand it a little.

The world started having colors once again.

Time started to flow once again.

The wolf was starting to get its initial speed again. It seemed that none of the wolves noticed anything weird or new. But I did. There was now an invisible thread connecting me and Slyde on a deeper level.

I felt like I had something more than normal senses. I could sense the slightest vibrations in the air. The breathing of the wolf. The flies going around us. I even heard some water next to us. It was an amazing feeling.

It was more of snake instincts than anything.

'Did Slyde share his powers with me?' I thought as I focused on the invisible thread between us.

Then I saw an image of a boy standing and thinking about something. The wolf behind him was already biting his shoulder. He already had a big bloodied back probably from something hitting him.

Then I felt that something was fiercely biting my shoulder. 'Huh, it's almost like the boy I am looking at. Wait that's me!' I realized this as I shifted my focus back from the white thread.

And there it was.

The wolf was biting my shoulder.

It did nothing. My skin was stronger than ever before. My eyes had the color of someone crazy again. I knew what will happen.

But I didn't try to control it.

I just let it take over me.

The confused wolf opened his mouth and bit me again wondering why it didn't do anything. The expression on his and the other wolves' faces was confused and a little scared.

The scared expression might be because of my other side which was already in full control.

I took my dagger out of my sheath.

The sharp breath emanated from it. Mixed with my killing intention was a great combo of intimidation.

I took a step forward to the wolf as soon as he took one back. My dagger was already flying toward him. His last moments flashed inside his eyes and his head left his body.

His corpse fell to the ground.

Everything seemed to stop again but this time it didn't really stop. It was just that everyone in what they were doing. Even Slyde that was always firing the magic orbs was still at the moment.

Everyone except Slyde looked at me with a horrified expressions. It might have also been an expression of wanting revenge. but I just looked at the corpse slowly accepting the new dark magic that it fed me.

Then I looked at the wolves. No. I looked at my prey.

With the new senses immensely improving my power. It felt like this fight was won from the start. A better defense. A better understanding of the surroundings. New senses.

I had everything I wanted.

And with that.

I sprinted toward Slyde. Beheading every wolf that was on my way. Every slash took one life. Every slash of my dagger made only two sounds. That was a splashing of blood and the body falling on the ground.

As killed every wolf on the way I felt even more exhausted than before. But with my newfound defense and senses, I felt satisfied. I knew that Slyde is part of my power too from now on.

{Ssssss That was great Eric. I will tell you about our connection someday...} I only heard this as I fell asleep.

-----------------------

As I was walking on the trail road I noticed that it was starting to turn more people-friendly around here. There were many signs around me saying something about being careful as there is a trail road. I still continued to walk on the trailroad.

After a few hours, I finally reached the place.

London.

It was London that will give me many new opportunities. With my still new senses, I smelled and looked at everything twice. It was wonderful.

'This is the place I will make my start in the magical world'
