Eric was looking around and communicating with his partner while entering London. It was already afternoon around 19:00 and it was slowly turning dark.
Eric POV:
I looked around a little more. There was some garbage on the ground in the grass. And even in the tree next to me.
I wasn't in the center of London. I was only at the entrance but many people were already going around. Some of them looked at me like I was some weirdo. I understood why they thought so. You don't see many people going on the railroad like me every day.
There were some buildings all around me. They weren't big or small. They had only one floor plus a roof. Of course, there were some two floors and even a slightly bigger building that looked like a smaller skyscraper.
Slyde POV:
I was following Eric as he walked through the streets of London. I was still getting used to the new environment, but I could feel the magic in the air. It was different from the forest, but it was still powerful. I was excited to explore this new place with Eric.
As we walked, I remembered how we first met. Eric was attacked in the forest, and I was just a small snake. But something about him caught my attention. He was different from the other humans I had seen. He had a connection to the magic in the forest, and I knew that he had some great potential within him.
I decided to save him and go with him and help him on his adventure. We then started bonding more and more. I can't imagine what I would do without Eric.
Eric POV:
So I stepped out of the railroad. I breathed a breath of air to refresh myself. But I was stunned.
'What the hell is wrong with this air? Why is it so dirty? Ewww' The air around me had small grey particles floating around. It was significantly different from the air in the forest.
In the forest, the air was full of oxygen and was refreshing to breathe. It always made me relax a little. But in the London? I feel like I want to puke a little. It's horrible.
It will probably take me some days or weeks to get used to it.
I knew Slyde felt the same.
And how do I know it?
During the fight with the big wolves, Slyde seemed to unlock some Core magic. We started calling it Snake's bond.
It's a somewhat passive ability that we can both use.
It allows us to be connected on a soul level. After some experiments, we figured out that we could use this to know the position of the other, as well as see through their eyes. So we don't need to speak aloud anymore to talk. We can think about talking while slightly focusing on the white invisible thread that's always connecting us.
The feeling of communicating like that is somewhat satisfying and relaxing as you know that there is always someone to who you can talk. I also researched the way things that Slyde helped me with during the fight.
Snake's skin. Snake's instincts and senses. Snake's perception of magic.
Snake's skin made my defense many times better. It solved one of my biggest problems of moving at high speeds.
Snake instincts and senses made me more sensitive to any sound vibration or even movement. There were also some improvements in my dodging as now I slightly resemble a snake with my dodging and attacking style.
And the one that is the most mysterious. Snake's perception of magic.
It is remarkably different from others. While I know two types of magic currently. My pure dark magic. And neutral magic that can be changed into dark magic with different spells and uses.
But now I can slightly sense something else. It's something more natural. I wouldn't call it white magic as it's not the opposite of my magic. But it's something more in line with animals and nature.
I can't do anything with it except sense it slightly flowing in the surroundings. But I noticed that there is some of that natural magic in Slyde's big blue line that's ranging from his head to his tail.
Slyde was also developing quite well. He was over a meter big now. On the railroad, he had a sudden growth explosion. He was starting to get bigger every morning feeding on the magic that I could send to him with the white thread that connected us.
Other people had some normal clothes and looked still weirdly at me.
'Oops Looks like I need to get some other clothes than my hunting suit. Or else It will be bad if more people see a child like me in these clothes. They could even call the police thinking I am a lost child.'
I thought as I started walking towards the dark alley to hide from other people.
Although my plans in battles were extremely good. But my plans in the situations with dealing with humans weren't always that good take the example of Hogwarts which was a total failure.
But still, I bet on my plan.
The dark alley didn't have many places to move. It was around 10 meters to go forwards and only 2 meters to the side. There were many garbage bags on the ground. The air here was even more disgusting. The rats that had red eyes fastly hid as I was walking closer toward them. It was a truly disturbing scene after my being in a somewhat clean forest. Not including corpses.
I waited for some time. It was probably two or three hours. I was still thinking about my plan though as I waited.
And what my plan was? It was to rob.
I needed some money. I didn't want to exactly rob a bank or something since I doubt I would do anything before the police arrived.
So I would rob people.
I had to wait until it was dark since if people could recognize who robbed them then I would be in a problem.
But I can't wait until three or four AM since there wouldn't be any people to rob from.
From what I assumed it was around 23 PM. It was perfect.
I walked out of the dark alley and immediately locked my first target. It was an old lady.
And if you tell me that it's bad because she is defenseless or something I wouldn't care less. It was mostly because of that that I decided to rob her first. I didn't care if I will be a total scum. I will do it anyway because I need money. And even if it was an old lady who was sick I wouldn't care.
In the first month of arriving in the forest, I wouldn't even have thought to rob. Maybe only if my life was on the line. But after experiencing the cruelty of the forest I realized some things.
No one will give you anything for free. Take or lose. Kill or be killed.
It was these three things that made up my morale. And I wouldn't let them be changed. They helped me so many times that I couldn't doubt them even a little.
I moved swiftly to another street just to be able to walk toward the old lady. My expected contact spot where I would do the theft was right behind a corner. It was a totally perfect plan.
I started looking down at the ground while looking a little sad while walking towards the corner.
My feet were looking weak and a little lifeless. If anyone with a little sympathy saw me they would try to help me. And if that old lady was kind she would let her guard down and make my theft even easier than it already is. After all non-magical old lady in her late seventies is defenseless against me.
As I was a few meters from the corner I saw her. She was an old lady with a red jacket all around her. It looked quite expensive. She was quite high compared to a child like me. But that was even better because I would be able to steal even easier from her pockets if I somehow pretend to fall.
'Let's go! I might have hit the jackpot!'
As I was about to bump into her I prepared my hands. My hands needed to be extremely fast and accurate to steal anything that may be in her jacket. I believed in my ability even though I haven't done something like that before. But I had something better. I had experience with daggers.
Every time I cut something I needed to be as precise fast and powerful as I can be. This also made my hands change a little. My hand had some red spots all around.
And then it happened.
When we were a little less than a 10inches away I slipped and accidentally fell on her.
I put my hands on her jacket to catch myself from falling. As I put my hands on her jacket I went inside and stole everything. There was a pouch that was quite heavy and a piece of wood.
I quickly put it inside my hunting suit as I was still holding onto her.
I looked into her face with my best expression of being sad and sorry at the same time.
"I am so sorry miss! It's my fault that I bumped into you because I haven't eaten anything in a few days. Please forgive me!"
I expected endless sympathy on her face. And then saying something like she will give me some food or something similar. But it didn't happen.
The only expression that was on her face was that of disgust.
Her eyes had that disgusted gaze again. It was this thing that I hated the most. The feeling of someone looking down on me. I felt the anger brewing up inside me. My dark magic was starting to become a little active.
But I couldn't let myself go into the crazy state again. As I would probably kill thousands of humans before I would be killed or captured by the people from the Ministry of Magic.
I quickly controlled my dark magic to only circle in my body with limited power. I would think faster and do things faster but I wouldn't go crazy.
'Let's just hope that the Ministry of Magic won't notice anything while I am using my dark magic.'
Then the old lady spoke.
"Get the fuck away from me you dirty muggle. Or I will kill you!"
Then I realized. She isn't some old defenseless lady. She is a wizard!
'Does that mean that the pouch I stole might be a pouch with an undetectable extension charm? That means it can store so many things! In the pouch, there might be tons of magical items that are valuable to her. And the piece of wood isn't just ordinary wood. It must be a magic wand! That's really a jackpot!'
I realized that my surprised expression was visible on my face. I quickly hid my expression and continued looking sad and sorry.
"I am sorry miss! I will go away now!" I hurriedly said.
"I think so you fricking muggle " She said again as she continued on her way with a disgusted expression that visibly showed that her day is bad now.
I also continued on my way with a happy expression that she couldn't see.
'She is my key. She is my key to the magical community. If I follow her I will be able to reach the place and contact other people and learn about magic. She is really my lucky star.' I thought as I reached into my pocket to touch the wand and the pouch happily.'
Once I was behind the corner I climbed up to the roof of the house next to me. Then I started silently following her with my ability Silent step.
