"Nice, here are the durability stats for the Beretta M9, along with the possible attachments and upgrades. But for now, I only need the flashlight," Leon muttered to himself.

Leon selected the flashlight and spent 40 Force points. The pistol in his hand emitted a red glow, and after a couple of seconds, a small flashlight was attached to his gun. Leon activated the flashlight, and it illuminated the entire room.

"It's pretty bright," Leon remarked as he examined his M9.

"Tomorrow is another day to stay alive, hopefully, I'll come across some survivors," Leon said while looking at his M9.

Leon may have hoped to meet other survivors, but in the red zone, it was rare to find any.

While Leon was asleep, thousands of Walkers started emerging from different abandoned buildings and walking down the street to the east.

7 AM

The next day, as the sun almost set, its rays shone through the apartment window, waking Leon up.

Leon sat up and looked at the plain ceiling when he heard a sound.

"ARHHH!"

Leon quickly got up and peeked through the window. About fifty Walkers were walking outside.

"Damn, they're already here," Leon muttered.

Leon grabbed his backpack, took out his M9, and peered out the door.

"I guess the walkers from the night came down here," Leon thought.

During the night, for some unknown reason, the walkers became more active and dangerous.

Peeking outside, Leon saw that his floor was clear of walkers. It was empty. He looked over the railing and spotted more walkers on the street below. He also noticed walkers two floors down from his position.

"I should be stealthy and save ammo. I have my knife, but I need another weapon just in case," Leon reasoned.

Leon went into every room on his floor, searching for a weapon.

"Perfect, you'll do me some good," Leon said when he found a baseball bat in the last room. He pushed the bat inside, leaving the handle accessible in case he needed to quickly pull it out and use it.

Leon started sneaking down the stairs until he reached the floor where he spotted four walkers.

-Monster: Walker-

-Level: 1-

-Physique: 39-

-Strength: 37-

-Speed: 43-

-Skill: Infectious Claw/Bite-

"Ah!"

"Arr!"

"I should use the sounds they make to my advantage," Leon thought.

Every few seconds, each walker let out a low roar. Leon crouched behind one walker and waited.

"Arr."

As the walker roared, Leon stood up and stabbed it in the head. The sound of the roar masked the noise of flesh and bone breaking. The knife was now dripping with green blood.

-Killing Level 1 walker: 10 Force Points-

Quietly, Leon placed the dead walker's body on the ground and crouched behind the next walker, waiting again.

"Arr."

Leon stabbed the second walker in the head and gently placed it on the ground. He silently moved on to the third walker and repeated the process. Leon quickly placed the walker down and approached the other walkers that kept walking into the wall at the end of the hall. As Leon reached behind them, one of the walkers turned around. Although the walkers' eyes may have turned white, some still had partial vision.

"Arrh!"

The walker screamed louder than before, alerting the other walkers. It tried to grab Leon, so he kicked the walker back, slamming it against the wall, and then stabbed it in the side of the head.

"Damn it, I should have done better," Leon scolded himself in anger.

When Leon turned around, he saw that all the walkers quickly started walking up the stairs towards him. He took out the wooden baseball bat.

Without waiting for the walkers to approach him, Leon moved forward. The walkers' movements were somewhat slow to Leon due to his training and the super soldier serum, but their reactions were still faster than those of other humans.

"Walkers are way slower than before," Leon remarked.

"Fwoosh!"

A walker swung its arm towards Leon, but he easily dodged it by moving to the right.

From the walker's left side, Leon swung the bat at its head.

"Back!"

The walker lost its balance and leaned on the railing. Leon lifted it and threw it off the floor.

"Bang!"

The walker lost its balance and leaned on the railing. Leon lifted it and threw it off the floor.

"Bang!"

The walker landed on the ground, lifeless. However, the noise alerted more walkers.

Leon turned back to face the other walkers.

"Back!"

Thrusting his bat, Leon hit a walker in the stomach, causing it to bend forward. He then swung down, destroying the back of the walker's head.

The main part of a walker is its brain, and by destroying the brain, the connection to its body is severed, resulting in its death.

More walkers kept coming.

"Back!"

Leon hit a walker's head, and it easily died and fell. He swung again, killing another walker.

"Back! Back! Back!"

Leon killed four more walkers one after another, and then he killed seven more.

After finishing off the seven walkers, the system made a sound in his mind, but he didn't focus on it.

-Congratulations, host, on leveling up from 2 to 3. Reward: 10 Attribute Points, 300 Force Points.-

After killing another walker, Leon looked at the street and saw more walkers approaching.

"There are more coming. I have to get out of here quickly," Leon thought to himself.

Leon killed one more walker, then grabbed the barrel and handle of the bat and pushed the walkers back, causing them all to fall backward.

Leon jumped off the second floor, front-rolling, and all the walkers changed their direction and headed towards him. He quickly got up and started running, dodging all the walkers as he passed through the alleyway.

20 minutes later.

Leon was walking in an alley, holding his M9 and looking around.

"Bang!"

There was a loud gunshot. Leon frowned and stopped moving. After a couple of seconds, he changed his direction to the west and walked toward the source of the gunshot.

He wanted to see who was shooting and why. After walking for a minute, he saw two men shouting at each other behind a 10-feet-tall wire fence.

"Who's the idiot that fired the gun? Do you want to attract more walkers? Just leave if you don't want to live. Don't get me killed!" the fat man stood behind the fence, shouting. The fence was surrounded by some abandoned vehicles and construction waste.

'A base!'

'How is there such a weak base in the red zone?' Leon questioned himself.

"You both quit shouting, or else I'll just kill you both," a fat man walked down from further within the base, accompanied by two large men with guns.

The two men became quiet and backed away when they heard the words. They were in a panic just moments ago.

"Jake, hurry up! Over here!" suddenly, a man shouted as he saw a zombie pushing against the fence. He quickly yelled, "Quick! Bring a few more people to this side!"

Another man walked up to the fence with a spear and pierced the head of the zombie that was pushing against it.

"Why isn't the search team back yet?"

"They only went out yesterday, and they might not be able to come back today because of last night."

"Then what do we do? Let's run! We can't fight so many walkers."

Because of the shouting, more people came outside, and the camp descended into chaos.

"Look! There is someone there!" a man suddenly pointed outside the camp and shouted. He started waving his hand and yelled, "Help! We have a lot of supplies here. We will repay you for saving us!"

"You idiots, are you trying to attract more walkers?" the fat man shouted.

Leon, who was outside the camp, heard what all the people were saying, so he started thinking about what to do.

'If I help, maybe they can tell me why they are here, or they can help me get out of the red zone.'

-Congratulations, host, on unlocking the task function. New task: Rescue the survivors of the Quarter City Base. Reward: 300 Force Points, 5% Lake City Trust (the host can choose not to accept this task)-

"Task Function, with that amount of Force point, it seems best to save them," Leon said with a bit of excitement.

Leon took out the bat and spun it, sending the old walker's blood flying off, while scanning the number of walkers and planning how to attack.

There were two walkers on the right, five in the middle, and three on the left.

He started walking towards the right. The walkers heard him and began walking towards him.

"Whoosh!"

As the walker swung, Leon dodged and swung his bat at its head, destroying it and sending it flying. He kicked the other walker back as it came towards him.

"Back!"

Leon slammed the bat into the walker's head, instantly killing it.

While fighting the other seven walkers, more survivors from the camp watched in shock.

"He managed to take down all those walkers so quickly."

All the survivors in the camp were amazed by Leon's skills.

Leon easily killed two more walkers, then knocked down the last two. However, when he swung and hit the last two walkers in the head with the bat, they didn't die. He had to hit their heads three more times each to finally finish them off.

"Back! Back! Back!"

"Back! Back! Back!"

Leon had to hit the walkers' heads further away to avoid getting blood on himself.
