< Master has acquired level three higher rank sword art (slash sword art ***) >
Hehe
If I remember correctly from the novel, the protagonist has access to a system probably similar to what I have been offered by the will of the universe, and one of the functions of the system is a shop where the protagonist can buy any ability or art with the experience he accumulates by killing anything and also level up with the help of it.
Ya, it's pretty similar to any novel about the system, but getting a level three higher rank art from the system is not easy, even for the protagonist, because the amount of accumulated experience needed to buy any art is around ten times higher than any ability of the same rank in the novel.
If I talk about what is written in the novel, there is more than one reason behind this difference between buying art and ability. The first and foremost reason for this is that ability and art are inherently different from each other; the ability can be learned instantly after acquiring it, but in the case of learning the art, it can take years. And then there's also the problem with art that it can only be learned with the help of someone who created it or learned it entirely.
That is why the system took extra experience points because providing art to the protagonist is far more power-consuming than ability.
That is why it's hard to believe that I got it so easily. But who am I to say? I already had three abilities, and all of them are above the higher ranks. Maybe I shouldn't have been surprised this much by these kinds of things; didn't they say to always aim higher?
I wanted to try out my newfound powers immediately, so I grabbed the secondhand sword, which I purchased from that girl in the shop, in my right hand and took the position to swing it horizontally. With a swish, I could catch sight of the air splitting in half that made the curtain in that room fluent around.
The spectacle is marvelous for me, who only reads about people who can cut boulders in half and split rivers in two. After comprehending the power behind this slash, I can clearly say that it is enough to cut a full-grown human into two parts, but what is more surprising is that I didn't even use any of the principal moments of the art I acquired; the same goes for mana.
I just use the insight about swordplay that I gained from the art to get into position and use the muscle power I contain in my body.
After awakening to the first rank, I obtain some knowledge about how to use Mana to perform magic or strengthen my body; it is just basic knowledge, but unlike how I am able to comprehend things by having Gnosis put information directly into my head, this time I could feel that the knowledge acquired at the moment of awakening had directly infused with my soul, similar to how all of my three abilities are ingrained with my soul.
If I use the principal moment of this art with all the mana I have, I may be able to cut through a boulder similar to the one shown in the anime, where the teenagers go around killing demons and whose final boss looks like Michael Jackson.
So now that I have a little bit of strength, I should start doing the things I've been thinking about for a long time.
Taking out a yellow paper from my bag lying on my bed, I look at it with sharp eyes.
This piece of paper is the only document that I brought out of that secret chamber. I had only one motivation to bring this document with me, and the reason was simply that inside this document was data about the location of a ruin that is situated inside the Cold Forest, and the only person who knows about that information is the Baron and now me also.
I've been interested in the Cold Forest ever since Vikram's memory merged with Eren's soul.
Very little is told about the Continent of the Five Kingdoms within the novel, and this continent and its people don't play much of a role in the main story except for one.
Elizabeth Ron Eastaler, as her name suggests, is the one and only princess of the Eastaler Kingdom and perhaps the most talented person born on this continent, and as far as the novel goes, she meets Light inside this world's greatest and most secret academy.
Almost everything I know about the continent comes from her perspective in the novel. The Cold Forest, which is situated in the middle of this continent, is described to be twice as large as the Amazon Forest in the novel from her point of view. This forest borders all the Five Kingdoms and also plays a part in war deterrence.
And Elizabeth is also the reason I take so much interest in this forest. If I am not wrong, which is impossible because I have gnosis, in the novel it is stated that Elizabeth gets a special ability from exploring a ruin in the cold forest, and that special ability made her grow faster than any person on the continent has ever seen.
So now that I have information about a ruin inside the cold forest and also have some strength to survive in that forest, there is no way in hell I am going to lose this golden opportunity.
••••
I am standing at this somewhat special place in the dark of night with a heavy bag hanging on my back. My whole body is covered in black attire that is made of some special leather, which feels more like armor than clothes.
I wanted it to be light green or brown, which would give me good cover inside this wilderness, but what can I do with the stupidity of the people of this continent? They either have shining armour like a hero or peach-black armour like an assassin. Bastards are going to the extreme on both sides; what's their motto may be either be become the hero or, if not, then become a killer.
I can't see anything in front of me. I can only sense it--a feeling that I am standing in front of an invisible wall.
After standing there like a stone for about three minutes, I finally heard the voice of Gnosis in my head.
< affirmative As the master had predicted, this is a magic boundary wall of the cold forest, which prevents any kind of beast higher than the first rank from coming outside of the territory of the forest.>
So it's just for the beasts, which means my getting in won't have any effect.
< affirmative >
Confirming with Gnosis one more time, I put my right leg first inside, crossed the invisible wall in front of me, and entered one of the most dangerous places on the continent.
