Somewhere in City J, Country P.
Nana dropped her body on the soft bed with a sigh. Seconds later, her eyes fluttered opened and revealed a pair of beautiful brown eyes filled with complicated emotion. Heavy sigh escaped her lips, a frown appeared on her tired face. Lifting her hand which was holding her phone, she looked at her phone which showed a series of number belonged to Mu Yang.
She had promised him that she would call him, but she also knew that she was lying when she told him that. However, now that she had laid on her soft bed in a hotel room, she really had the urge to call him and tell him that she had arrived safely.
Nana gritted her teeth and decided to put her phone away before she changed her mind. She needed to stick to her plan and not let her thought sway her already made up decision.
The temptation was so strong, after all.
Ignoring her phone, she went to clean herself up then took a nap. By the time she woke up, the sky outside the window had turned dark. Nana reached out for her phone and checked on the time. It was still early in the evening. Out of habit, she turned to the other side of the bed and was stunned when she saw it empty.
Her breath hitched in surprise, but a second later, she smirked pitifully. A small chuckle escaped from her lips, laughing at her stupidity. Her palm rose and covered her pathetic expression.
What do you expect? She thought. You've left him, Nana. Wake up.
Isn't it what you want? You want to forget him, right? Then, get used to it!
Nana took a deep breath repeatedly. She tried to fix her expression, willed herself not to cry since it was what she wanted from the very beginning. It wasn't easy, but somehow she managed to do it after having a series of self counselling questions and answers with herself inside her mind. As soon as she finished counselling herself, the storm in her eyes calmed down and her mind cleared up.
It wasn't the first time for her to hide her emotion deep inside her heart and mind. It wasn't the first time she turned off her own feelings that she deemed only disturbing her daily life. It wasn't the first time, and she had couples of people to thank for this ability of her. The mask she had on her face was so perfect that she herself believed that she was really like the mask she had on.
Half an hour later, Nana came out of her room and headed towards the restaurant area on the first floor. After choosing her food, she found a secluded place to sit down and enjoyed her dinner. She planned to enjoy the bustling night of City J at the rooftop café later. She had done her research and found a nice place not too far away from her hotel. She only needed to walk to get there.
Nana was used to the situation where she would sit and eat alone. She enjoyed her alone time greatly. Most of the time, people would ignore her and label her as a nerd. However, at this particular night, Nana didn't even realize she was oozing with feminine energy.
Probably because she dressed up a little bit -which she would not do on most of the occasion when she went out alone. Her calm and indifferent manner seemed to attract the people around her. She didn't even realize she had attracted some bees around her.
When she frowned, she made her audiences' hearts clenched. They really wanted to reach out and smoothed the area between her eyebrows.
Who displeased her?
Her fingers scrolled on her phone slowly as her eyes read on the content carefully. The longer she read, the deeper her frown was. However, a second after she finished reading it, her indifferent expression returned to her face and she continued reading other things.
What she was reading was none other than the article where Mu Yang was rumored to go to the airport to pick up the actress Lin Yi. She knew fully well what Mu Yang was doing in the airport at that time, but she couldn't find any articles where Mu Yang's side refuted the information.
Oh well, it wasn't her problem. She shouldn't be tempted with anything related to Mu Yang. At least, not for the upcoming 24-hours.
Ignoring the new article, Nana continued eating while scrolling on her phone lightly. She looked like she was fully immersed in her own world, but as soon as someone sat in the empty chair across her own, she hid the warmth in her own eyes and the thin smile that threatened to escape from her lips.
Looking up, the death stare she had prepared to shoot at the intruder was soon replaced with her fake commercial smile.
The one who sat in front of her was a graceful looking woman who was smiling warmly at her. From her warm eyes and smile, it was as if she was trying to convince Nana that she was a harmless old woman.
"Is there something wrong?" Nana asked, still with her fake smile on her face.
"Child, are you here alone?" The woman asked gently.
"For now, yes. My friend is still on the way here." It was a lie, of course. But, who would, in their right mind, confess that they were alone in such situation? What if it was a scam? What if she was harmed and hypnotized? What if she was kidnapped because of her own honesty?
"Ah, I see." The woman didn't look discourage. "Pardon me for asking this, are you married?"
Nana's smile got even wider. It was a common question in this country and she had got similar questions from her relatives, but it was the first time a total stranger asked her this. What should she say? She had never liked this country but somehow she was still able to live despite being bombarded with that ridiculous question almost every family gathering. Even her colleagues were all nosy enough to keep asking her this question.
Totally not her favorite question, but she couldn't just lash out at this stranger, right?
"Not yet, aunty. Is there anything I can help?"
The woman's eyes sparkled as soon as she heard Nana's answer. "That's great. My name is Melissa. Call me Aunt Lisa. Child, what's your name?" Melissa looked excited.
"It's Kirana, Aunty."
"Kirana, so here is the case. Aunty really likes you. Even from a far, Aunty can see that you have a great temperament. Aunty has a good feeling about you. Fortunately, Aunty still has a single son, probably a bit older than you. But, don't worry. He is not that old. He still looks handsome. He is also very obedient. Child, do you want to meet him? You can see whether he is to your likings or not. If he is not, Aunty can shape him into what you want. What do you say?"
If it were other people, their jaws might have dropped on the floor listening to this old woman named Melissa excitedly matchmaking her son to a strange girl. Nana had the urge, as well, but she held back. Instead, her eyes widened slightly at the excited old woman in front of her.
Was she being proposed by an unknown woman in public? Was it a new operational modus of human trafficker? She wasn't hypnotized, was she?
Nana silently pinched her thigh and flinched as soon as the pain hit her nerves. It wasn't a dream! She was really being matchmade by a potential future mother-in-law to her own son whom she said quite handsome and obedient. She even went as far as willing to shape the son to meet her criteria.
If this wasn't a new operational modus, what was it?
Nana was a bit overwhelmed with this old woman who looked excited like a child.
