The street was crowded, as expected of the most famous street for tourist. There were many small shops and restaurants here that provided what the tourist were looking for.
Delicacy, entertainment, souvenirs, one could name it and this street had it all.
Nana only heard about this street but she had never thought that she could come here by herself, oh no, scratch that. She was here with her so called boyfriend who was busy hiding his face under his hat and mask in a secluded alley after the fifth person approached him and asked for his sign. Of course, he rejected them all while claiming that they got a wrong person.
"Bao Bei, wait for me!" Mu Yang called out as soon as he realized that Nana wasn't anywhere near him.
Finding her in the crowd, Mu Yang moved towards the petite girl who was looking around like a lost kid. He reached for her hand and took it into his own hand while smiling gently. She flinched lightly but when she noticed that it was him that took her off guard like that, her stiff shoulders relaxed.
What should he do? She looked so cute like that! Even when she was also wearing mask and a hat, she still looked adorable in his eyes.
"Where are you going? I told you to stay close to me, didn't I?" Mu Yang half scolded her while fixing her hair which was a mess on her shoulders.
"Ah, I didn't realize I've walked too far from you. Sorry." Nana scratched the non-existent itch on her cheek. To be honest, she did it in purpose. She was looking around for a pharmacy and intended to sneak out when Mu Yang didn't see her. Just when she was engrossed in her own mind, a warm hand seized hers. She was startled as she thought it was a weird stranger.
"As long as you're fine." As usual, he didn't have the heart to really scold her. Sighing helplessly, Mu Yang pulled her towards him and kept her close to him. "Let's go. The souvenir shop is over there."
Seeing her obedient look, Mu Yang had a foolish grin on his face. If it wasn't for the mask, he would not dare to have this kind of expression on public. With her delicate hand in his, Mu Yang strode through the crowd and brought her to a souvenir shop called 'Blue Moon'.
"Here we are. The souvenirs here are varied, so we can use our time to browse around and pick some for your family and friends back at home." Mu Yang had done his homework and found a good shop, indeed. Even though it wasn't the biggest souvenir shop, it was one of the best shops where one could find a rare and nice souvenir for their beloved ones easily and within a rather humanely range of price.
Nana took a glance at the shop and nodded absent-mindedly. It wasn't that she wasn't excited, but her sight was occupied by a pharmacy nearby. After confirming her next quick destination, she followed him into the shop with a new found energy. She only needed to find an excuse so that she could keep Mu Yang occupied with something.
Nana watched Mu Yang's every movement. It was a bit funny for her since he seemed to be more excited than her in choosing souvenirs. He even actively communicated with the shopkeeper, asking for recommendation and everything. Once he followed the shopkeeper, Nana used the chance to slip away and ran towards the pharmacy.
"Welcome! How may I help you?" The pharmacist was a beautiful and mature middle-aged lady who was very friendly and she seemed to catch on the situation very quickly.
"I need some medicines for motion sickness." Nana tried to hide her nervousness behind her smile.
"Sure. Let me grab it for you. Do you need anything else?"
"Em, I-I need birth control pill." It came out as a whisper even when they were the only ones in the pharmacy. Nana couldn't see her own face so she failed to realize that her own face was flushed red from embarrassment when she said the pill out loud. It was her first time buying this kind of pill!
The pharmacist arched her eyebrows knowingly. "I see. Do you need some condoms with it?"
"No need. Just the pill is okay." Nana shook her head, feeling embarrassed again by the suggestion. Her face rose to a darker shade of red at the mention of condoms.
How innocent, thought the pharmacist.
"You know, just to make sure." The pharmacist shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly, but the glint in her eyes was clear that she was teasing her.
"Actually, I don't know his size and I don't want to look like I am eager to have sex with him." Nana covered her beet red face with her hands, half scolding herself for disclosing that kind of information easily to someone she had just met.
The pharmacist chuckled. This girl was so much fun to tease. "I see. I'll get them for you." She turned around and went towards the shelves where she stored all the medicines she had in the pharmacy. After a while, she returned with two strips of medicine and explained to Nana how to take them.
"Thank you very much for the information." Nana paid for the pills and bowed down towards the lady in gratitude. She stored the birth control pill in her bag carefully and took the medicine for motion sickness in her hand as a cover just in case Mu Yang asked him about what she did in the pharmacy. She wouldn't let him know that she was buying birth control pills!
"Enjoy your days! Don't be too hard on yourself! Communicate well with your partner!" The pharmacist waved her hand towards Nana who was walking out of the pharmacy. Her teasing shouts made her flushed red in embarrassment again, so she hastily waved back and closed the door.
Only after the door was closed, Nana sighed in relief. The erratic thumps in her chest was starting to slow down after her talk with the kind lady and after she got what she was looking for. Now it was time for her to return to her original plan, which was to buy souvenirs for her friends and family.
"Bao Bei!" A shout came and a big and sturdy body crashed on hers and enveloped her in a warm embrace. The loud and fast thumping in his chest entered her ears and she knew instantly how nervous he was feeling.
"Where were you? I looked for you everywhere but you weren't there." His voice was shaky and his hold on her was so tight she thought he was going to snap her back in two.
But, the agitation was real. Her disappearance really made him panic. His body reaction couldn't be faked. Realizing how panic he was, a pang of guilt hit her. Nana returned his tight embrace, patting his back in the process. For a moment, she forgot her surrounding, forgot that they were in public and were being watched by many people. The initial embarrassment that would get into her anytime he acted lovey dovey to her was nowhere to be found. She only had one goal in mind, which was to soothe this big boy in her embrace.
"I'm sorry..." was the only thing she could say. They stayed like that for a while, comforting themselves in each other's arms. Only after she felt that he was less agitated then she pushed herself out of his embrace lightly.
Mu Yang was still frowning, but he didn't look as terrible as he did before. Even though he was still reluctant to let her go, he obeyed her subtle gesture and met her gentle eyes.
"Don't you ever leave my sight again, unless I allow you to." Mu Yang didn't mean to sound like he was sulking, but he did.
Chuckling slightly, Nana cupped his cheeks and stared right through his eyes before responding, "I know. Let's go, we still need to pick some souvenirs."
As much as Mu Yang felt reluctant to let her go, he knew that she was right. So, he took her hand and led her back towards Blue Moon only to find out that many pairs of eyes were watching over the both of them with various expressions.
Nana: "..."
Mu Yang: "..."
"Are you guys done?"
