Chapter 32 - The Fear

Nana whined slightly as she stretched her body. She looked at the empty spot beside her which had gotten cold. Mu Yang always woke up earlier than her, so it wasn't a surprise anymore. She got up and washed up before she went to the kitchen. Breakfast was ready on the counter top, but Mu Yang was nowhere to be seen.

Where was he?

The house seemed empty. Did he go somewhere?

After drinking a glass of warm water, she sat on a nearby chair to wait for him. Since she had nothing to do, her eyes unconsciously scanned her surrounding. The not so familiar yet familiar layout made her brain processing the remaining information quickly. Her heart thumped slightly when her mind reminded her that she was about to leave this place by tomorrow.

Your time is over, her mind told her. What is your next plan? Can you really let him go?

Nana shook her head, trying to dispel that kind of questions from her mind. The next plan was, of course, to return to her daily life quietly. The answer for the second answer was obviously, like it or not, she must let him go. There was no way Mu Yang would be serious with an unknown woman like her. She couldn't bring anything useful to his career and she couldn't help him in any way to support him. If anything, she would be the one who benefited from their relationship if she decided to stick with him.

She didn't want his popularity, of course. But, let's be real. To support a relationship, a steady income would be appreciated. But, to have a steady flow of great amount of income, it would be more appreciated. From the way Mu Yang lavishly showered her with gifts and everything, she knew very much how much he had spent for her. It wasn't a small number. That's why she usually rejected it, but the stubborn Mu Yang would always take no for an answer.

It burdened her, actually. But, she couldn't win against him.

Financial problem aside, Nana didn't think she would have any problem in a matter of affection. Mu Yang was a clingy beast. He was eager to be pleased and to please her. She would face any trouble that came to her later when it did appear.

So, all in all, she would lose nothing with him. Instead, she would gain anything that she could think of; a loving and loyal partner -if he was the same as he claimed - and a life where she wouldn't have to worry about money. As he was an actor, she didn't need to show her face in the media. It was okay as long as his family acknowledged her.

But...

Would his family acknowledge her?

Again, Nana shook her head. She was thinking too far in the future. It was something that she didn't dare to think further since the possibility was zero. There was no way she would be having Yang Yichen a.k.a. Mu Yang as her husband. Nana laughed at herself mockingly.

Any reasons that she came up just now to justify herself were washed down the drain as soon as she got herself up together.

Nana, your plan is to leave him alone and don't put too much hope in this relationship. It's just a fan service.

Was fan service including you having sex with him? A voice asked her. There were so many cases where a celebrity slept with his fan only to find his career hit the rock bottom because of a certain fan. Of course, she wouldn't be like those brainless and greedy fans. But, it was all game for Mu Yang, she was certain of that. After all, Mu Yang got to have someone to warm the bed and she got to sleep with her favorite actor. It's a win win situation for the both of them.

Her heart and brain incited each other to agree on it.

Since that was what she believed in, no matter how much Mu Yang showed her that he was being serious with her, she wouldn't believe it. Being with him was a dream too beautiful to be true.

Don't put too much hope, or you'll get hurt. That's what her heart whispered to her every day.

Nana was lost in her world that she didn't even notice Mu Yang's arrival. He had just returned from the balcony after talking to his manager who was eagerly telling him his new schedule for two days later. He noticed her, still sitting near the kitchen counter and seemingly lost in thought. The light in her eyes dimmed and the grip in the glass tightened.

What was she thinking about that made her agitated? Mu Yang couldn't help but ponder about it. The look of distress on her face made his heart clenched.

"What are you worrying about? Why don't you share it with me?" Mu Yang sat beside her and noticed her flinching slightly.

"You scared me." The light in her eyes returned as she faced him with a surprised look on her face. "I was just thinking about what souvenirs I should buy for my friends and family."

She sounded casual, as if it was really the case. However, he could feel something was plaguing his mind. Somehow, he felt like she was hiding something from him.

If that was really the case, then he must admit her skill in hiding something was top notch. There was no difference in her expression. He, himself, could sense the oddity in her may be because of his attentive nature towards her. But, he couldn't say that he was 100% sure about it.

If she didn't want to tell him, then he could only wait until she felt secure enough to tell him everything. He didn't have the heart to force her to open up to him, fearing that she would despise him instead. He could only work hard to create safe haven for her, a place where she could pour everything and be her true self; him.

"Don't worry. I have a perfect place to buy anything you need and you want as souvenirs. I'll take you there." Mu Yang smiled and rubbed her head lovingly. "Let's have breakfast before we go out, shall we? I hope it is to your likings."

"Did you make it?" Nana looked at the food in front of her eagerly. At the mention of food, her stomach grumbled slightly, a loud notice that she was really in need of food.

Mu Yang laughed awkwardly and blushed slightly. He nodded but it almost went unnoticeable if not for her keen eyes. "Dig in." He hastily changed the topic and opened the glass lids of bowl and plates.

Nana smirked, but she didn't tease him. She took a pair of chopsticks and after praying for the food, she started to taste it.

Surprisingly, it was suitable for her taste buds. She liked them! The sparks in her eyes showed her inner feelings clearly and Mu Yang let out a relief breath after getting her acknowledgement.

"Eat more." He put some food into her bowl with a doting smile, before he fed himself.

"You too." Nana mimicked his action and put some into his bowl.

It was a warm morning, with homemade breakfast and light chats between the two of them. It was exactly what he had in mind the moment he thought about living with her. It was so peaceful and sweet that he suddenly had a bad premonition gnawing at his consciousness.

It's like a calm before a storm.
