Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: A Teller

August 27, 1587, Apothecary store, Gravesville. 10 leaves of Poison Hemlock, use six to eight leaves to kill adults. Use gloves to avoid intoxication. Seeds are more toxic than leaves. SIDE EFFECTS: Paralyzation, Respiratory problems, Death, Tremors, Muscle damage and Kidney failure.

Adrian couldn't believe his eyes. Dad brought the poison? Was he trying to fight the killer? Was he defending himself? Try as he might, he couldn't take his mind off the truth. His dad committed suicide.

"Andy?" He looked over to see that Viola was taking this a million times worse than her. The tears that once occupied her face, returned harder than ever. "Dad did it, didn't he? He killed himself." Honestly he didn't know whether to answer or not. Instead of letting words leave his mouth, he grabs the stapled papers from the other's hand. It took a while. Feeling her cold, shaken hands graze against him was enough to make his body curl up. When he finally pry the papers away from her, he flipped the receipt over to read what the intrepid note read.

"Dear my loving children, I knew you'd eventually come into my office, but this would be the first time you'd voluntarily come and I'd not be there. When Viola told me about your plan to kill me, I at first felt shocked, but came to terms with the terrible fact. You might think it was 'kill yourself or be killed', but for me it was leaving a place so I could finally see my son happy. I want to say that I'm sorry. I'm sorry I couldn't be the father you wanted. When my daughter told me what you had planned. I took time to think. And I realized… I was a good king, but a terrible father. So please, be better than me. And I love you both." It took a while for him to process what happened, but after sealing everything in he looked at his sister. "You told him?" The fierceness in his voice caused her to jump.

"I." She looked down as she spoke. "I had to." Her shaky yet confident voice caused a smile to spread across Adrian's face. Of course she would. Why did he even trust her anyways?

"So," He raised his finger towards her as he spoke. To be honest he could process what had recently happened. His dad had just killed himself. Just like that? He chose to poison himself? Did he ever think about the consequences? Did he not think there'd be an investigation? "You killed dad?" When the words made their way out of his mouth, he knew there was no going back. A shield of white paste washed over the child's face. He knew it would stir something in her. That's why he said it. He knew she would freak out and panic over the man SHE led to their death.

"No, no I di-"

"Yes you did." He slowly began to laugh at Viola's frightened body. "He killed himself because of you. You killed him?" As more screwed words came out of his mouth, he slowly backed his little sister into a corner. "You really lied about me killing him to further your own agenda." As he spoke, he could hear the footsteps that hastily made their way in this direction. He didn't know who it was, but they were about to hear the confession of a lifetime. As the sound echoed more and more, he continued to irk his sister with more and more accusations. Things from her killing their father, to her always wanting the throne to herself. But for time he eventually separated himself.

"Adrian! Vi! Why are you.." Anry's voice quickly made its way to both of their ears. Adrian wanted to speak, but was quickly overshadowed by his soon-to-be wife reprimanding. But something was different. Adrian watched as her eyes navigated everywhere else, but them.

"Anry." Even through everything. All of Viola crying, her rambling and the non-stop awkwardness of it all. Anry still managed to listen to him. "You threw this letter away, didn't you?" As he came to the revelation, a window of obviousness washed over Anry's face.

"I did. After everything happened, I decided to clean around." She waved her hand to the letter showing what she had found on her endeavors. "You guys didn't need to see that. And I tried everything to hide it." Adrian winced at the stupidness that sentence held. Making sure we never found it, would be burning it. That couldn't be 'the best' she could do.?

"Well at least we know the truth." Adrian folded the paper into his pocket as he spoke. "Our father is dead because of some STUPID lie." Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw the anger that surfaced from Vi's face, but honestly he didn't care. If she was going to betray him, he was going to make sure she suffered. Not wanting to deal with this anymore, he shoved his way through the Anry and onto the West wing. Although most people would be mad, he smiled. He knew what had to come next. For the first time in who knows how long, Vi had made her own decision. Not for the betterment of someone, but for herself. Even though she tried to help their father, she only did it to save her the guiltiness of it all. In the end, she failed. She failed the king. She failed him, she failed everyone. And he will make sure everyone knows her sin.

"Adrian?" He turned to see Anry with a strict look of confusion on her face. "What did you tell Vi? She's crying herself to hell." He watched as Anry defended her best friend for their heinous crime. Adrian almost hated the way she spoke. The way her lip would curl, just to say the wrong things. He was over it.

"Anry." He spoke slowly, yet just as bold as he always was. "I'm going to be king soon. Stop acting like you've always been a part of the castle." With that, he turned to venture into his room. Leaving Anry a stuttering mess. "Be better than him."
