Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Flowing Like Money

"General Juans." Her eyes widened as she just seemed to realize the same thing. "Gosh, it's been years since I heard his name." She was right. When they were younger they only heard rumors of the things that happened to General Juan. Some people said he died in a war, other people just straight up said he hated his wife and left. Bottom line, he left a mother without a wife and a child without a father. Suddenly, Adrian felt a slight sting coming from his hand. He looked down to see a slight gash on the upper part of his hand. The way the blood surged to the surface felt… alarming. A second passed by before he began to speak.

"Yeah I know, right." Just as he spoke the weight of a man lowered himself down to him. What was going on? Still feeling somewhat pumped up, Adrian pushed the man back with all his might. "What is wrong with you? You're the one who broke in!" The man didn't speak. The intruder just smiled as he tried to push the now revealed dagger into Adrian's side. Adrian could hear the sound of Anry's fear, but ignored it all the same. As he struggled a wave of dread fell over him. Was this the end? No, it couldn't be. Why was he here? Why is he doing this? Unless…. Adrian moved his hands over to overpower the man that wanted him dead. Hearing the sound of the dagger hitting the floor was almost too much to bear.

"You stupid piece of..." He looked over to see his hit man breathing heavily, grabbing ahold of his bleeding forearm. The wound wasn't deep, but wide enough to make enough blood to drip heavily. His now stained clothes look just as worn out as he was.

"How much?" Adrian didn't bother to entertain the man's thoughts. He knew why he was here. He knew why he had access. Honestly, he was a little surprised. The fact that he didn't think of this sooner. "How much did Anry promise you?" With him saying those words, he looked to his wife to see the exact reaction he'd expect. In front of them was anry with the sternest, unmoved face he'd ever seen. He was right.

"I didn't promise him anything." At first she left the room in silence, but eventually decided it was time to speak. "I just wanted you dead." Adrian watched as Anry lifted up the sword to notify her place. She was a traitor. A leak in the system. He shouldn't have trusted her. Still feeling somewhat aggravated, he slowly lifted himself up. He didn't take his eyes off her. Sure, Juan's son could try and kill him, but her… he wanted her to finally plunge the sword into him.

"Is there any particular reason?" His mind began to wander about the different possibilities of his death. What would they do after everyone discovered his body? Would they run? Take his money.? The thought of it almost made him cry of happiness. "All this time planning almost makes me happy." His smart remark was only met with an 18 inch blade being placed to his throat.

"Because you're a liar. You trashed Anry's name and felt no remorse." Tears began to slowly fall down his "wife" face. "You're a murder and terrible person." He shrugged his shoulders in agreement. He was. He killed his father, his sister. He basically pushed away everyone who ever cared about him.

"And what does HE get out of it?" He side-eyed the random man that still leaned upon the hallway's wall. "You couldn't kill me yourself?" He watched as her hand stiffened around her weapon.

"Onix?" She confirmed his name as she still kept her eyes on him. "He's my boyfriend. dumbass. After we're done with you, I'll finally be able to be with who I WANT to be with." Not gonna lie. A part of him was hurt. Not because she didn't want to be with him. Not because they were trying to kill him, but because everything just felt stupid. What was their plan, huh?" Would she pretend to care until it was her time to marry another person? Do you not think people would be suspicious? The thought of a terrible plan even having the opportunity of shining made him angry.

"Alright." Adrian began to move his way into what seemed like Onix's direction. A slight smile spread across his face as he watched the injured man straighten himself in case of a fight. Despite him being hilariously scared. Adrian knew he couldn't beat him in a fight. If he spent years training to be a soldier, Adrian was as good as dead. Adrian lowered his fingers to slowly wrap around the dagger that was once used to kill him. "I'll die then." still wanting to leave suspense he still kept eyes onto his captures. "But you won't have the ending you seek." An ocean of confusion wafted itself over Anry's face.

"What do you mean?" Just as she spoke, a crowd of voices maneuvered itself below them. He smiled. After a wedding, there was always an after party the next day to celebrate the couple's first night together. As time went on they heard more and more questions arise about where the newlyweds were. It was perfect. Time had gone on so long. They forgot that morning would come soon after. A smile had spread even more creepily on his face.

"Run Anry." With that being his final words. He began to let out an ear piercing scream causing an earthquake to be felt throughout the castle. Before anyone had made their faces to see them. The vile man dashed the weapon he'd been holding into his neck. It took a while, but the feeling in his feet slowly began to slip away causing him to fall. The blood on his neck continue to flow like an old man throwing money to the people he saw. It almost felt cold running out of his body. Even though it was faded, Adrian took pleasure in the gasps and screams of the people that witnessed his fate. Using the last bit of strength he had, he smiled at the couple. This was their plan. They wanted the power, fame, and the money that came with this luxurious position. Just like he had. But no. In the end there was no prize. There wasn't enough money to cover the amount of bloodshed you'd eventually had to spill. Adrian knew that well. He had learned the same lesson from his own father just a month ago. There is no up, only downs. There is no right, only wrongs. When you have it all, it simply means to an end. The last feeling in his fingertips gave out as he tried to move a single inch. Why? Because after this he knew what waited for him. The long, never ending pit of hell waited. And that's all.
