Chapter 15 - Ice Cream

"Um, the outside sure feels nice and cozy."

Kanzen left the cave after his conversation with Tina.

It was currently 7 in the morning, he was greeted by a warm breeze and mild sunshine.

Looking around for a bit, he couldn't help but lament his actions of staying caught up inside the cave for 16.5 centuries, even though it was just in his mental perception.

"T-this is life…"

He screamed, his voice loud enough to echo throughout the expansive forest.

Just as this moment, a nearby group of beast noticed him, they were attracted to his loud scream.

A group of forest wolves made their presence known.

They look at him with their hungry and fierce crimson eyes as if he was some special delicacy.

He noticed them even before they made their appearance but decided to ignore them, but now that they were daring enough to look at him as if he is some kind of delicacy.

This he couldn't ignore.

Looking at the pack of beasts slowly closing their distance, a smirk of disgust appeared on his face.

"This is a great opportunity, I should test my newly acquired magic with them."

He silently muttered as the magical power within him began to circulate.

"Baby dogs let's play."

Seeing his reaction and feeling the mana in the surroundings becoming chaotic the pack leader the strongest of the bunch and the one leading the wolves has a bad premonition.

It senses great danger, it possesses great intellect, it quickly reacted, it howled as it tried to order its pack to leave the strange creature.

Unfortunately, even though it reacted quickly, it was still too late, the moment they decided to hunt him is the moment their life was forfeited.

"Light Javelin Shower."

Before its crimson eyes, time seemed to stop moving as dozens of glimmering spears made of pure white light made of pure highly condense magical essence rained down to his pack, these light beams coming from the creature they thought seconds ago as a prey.

Never did they expect that they were the prey.

Swoosh… Swoosh… Swoosh…

Boom…! Boom…! Boom…!

[You have killed an early stage intermediate level 2 forest wolf]

[You have killed an early stage lesser level 1 forest wolf]

[You have killed an early stage intermediate level 2 forest wolf]

[You have killed an early stage newborn level 1 forest wolf]

[You have killed an early stage intermediate level 2 forest wolf]

"That's super easy."

He appeared before the dying pack leader's body, he kneled down examining the beast, a wide and eerie smirk in his face.

"So, this is real magic, it's super cool and awesome."

He made sure to aim for their heads to give them a quick and painless death.

So the bodies of the forest wolves were mostly intact.

He then stored the corpses in his inventory, he wasn't worried about the corpses becoming rotten thanks to time not being present inside.

He left the area and returned to the cave to pack his belongings.

He only spent a minute inside.

Done packing up his belongings, he left and closed the entrance using earth magic, placing a huge boulder in front so no one could enter.

"Now where should I go?"

He muttered.

[How about going for the westerly direction.]

Tine suddenly suggested.

"Wait, isn't the Orario located at the southerly direction."

He just remembered that his current location is that of the North of Orario.

Tina manifested before him as she continued.

[You are presently 10 years before the start of the main story line.]

"The main story line, isn't this world supposed to be different from the anime?"

He asked, baffled by her words.

[Yeah it is different, but that doesn't mean that the main story line would just disappear.

How can something as important as the main story that builds up the world vanished.

That cannot be allowed or else the world would cease to exist.

Fate, destiny, karma, and fortune will have their ways in manipulating the probability of things.

You're currently too early in the story, some of the main cast might still be young children playing with their parents.]

He nodded.

"That's reasonable, but why do I need to avoid Orario?"

He understood the point of Tina's words, and he found it reasonable.

How can something that had brought something into existence not happen.

[*Sigh* Orario is currently in the midst of a great turmoil, Orario now is in its darkest days, it's very chaotic out there, and I don't want you getting dragged into the struggles of the city when you're still this weak.]

Tina said straightforwardly.

"That's reasonable enough."

Unexpectedly, Kanzen just nodded in agreement with her words.

Just as she said, he is currently too weak, if he would rather not be swept by the machinations of fate, destiny, karma, and fortune he needed to possess the necessary power to fight against such concepts.

[You're not angry?]

She asked in a confused tone.

"Huh, why would I be angry when you're just worried about my safety, and it isn't like I hate being reprimanded, my wisdom might be that of an ancient coot.

Unfortunately, my experience doesn't match my wisdom.

My experience is literally that of a clueless child.

Instead of being angry I am happy that you're this worried about me, and for that, I thank you.

Moreover, I want to live a peaceful and free life for now even for a moment."

He was sincere about his words, he was thankful that someone was worried about him, a feeling he could only feel from his mother.

After their short conversation, Kanzen decided to follow through with Tina's suggestion to better avoid the current Orario.

He decided to journey towards the west heading to the nearest town in the west called 'Blue Moon Town' a rural town bordering an elven forest territory.

There's a nearer city called 'Melestora' but it was located in the south.

He decided to visit the place the next time.

He had been walking for about ten hours now but still hadn't spotted the sightings of a road.

This frustrated him a bit that he decided to stop by a tree to take a break.

He wasn't exhausted, he was just bored.

"It's unfortunate that I can only use my 'Void Traveler' to places I've visited if not this journey should have been much easier."

He muttered.

He summoned the blue screen that allows him access to the 'infinite shop'.

Scrolling he shortened the category to icy earth desserts, there he found what he was carving for.

He purchased a small box the size of a palm, it was cookies and cream ice cream.

It only cost him 10 credit points, a small amount compared to his enormous 2 billion plus credit points.

He opened the small box, the icy cold air permeated him, freshening him up.

"Um, it's been so long that I almost forgot how it tastes like."

He muttered a sweet and gentle smile on his otherworldly face.

Tina in her manifested form couldn't help but gawk, enjoying the scene playing out before her.

She could hardly see him display any real emotions as he always has this distant look in his face.

She knew that even though he displays a strong front on the outside, the real him is still hidden deeply within still in pain and broken.

Now that she saw him showing real emotions, she couldn't help but treasure the moment.

This is huge progress in his rehabilitation plan.

Kanzen is an ice cream lover even before the apocalypse descended in Earth.

When he was still a child, he would always save money from time to time until Christmas so that he could buy a considerable box of ice cream.

His mother Edna would also buy him a separate box he could eat after he was done with the one he had purchased.

What he loves the most is cookies and cream and vanilla.
