Chapter 16 - Natural Concepts

Done with his ice cream, he decided to continue on his journey.

"Big sis, can I ask something?"

He looked at his big sis, Tina in the eyes, ignoring the fact that there were hundreds of wild monkeys 'a type of beast' were surrounding them 'only him' the beasts couldn't see Tina.

She couldn't be seen if she wanted to.

[You're free to ask anything you want.]

Tina also ignored the monkeys surrounding them, if it were before she would advise him to be careful, but him now is on a completely different level.

Even if he faced the same alpha wolf he had killed before, in full strength, it wouldn't be a problem, it couldn't post a threat to him.

She could also tell that's he is serious.

"Can the concepts of fate, destiny, karma and fortune you mentioned be overwritten or overrule?

At first, I thought that one need to possessed power to overrule this concepts, that's supposed to be undeniable.

However, I come to realize it doesn't seem to be as simple as gaining power to escape the clutches of these concepts."

He asked, the seriousness in his tone is clear to anyone.

The leader of the wild monkeys was angered, the veins in its head were visible even under its tick hide.

It could tell that the human before it, is completely disregarding its presence as if it were an air.

[How did you come up with that?]

Tina asked back, the astonishment in her voice couldn't be hidden.

It's clear that he had hit the nail there.

She wasn't surprised that he ask such question, what really surprise her is the fact that he got the point this early.

"Didn't you say this world is an alternate replica of 'danmachi' does that mean that just like in the anime gods had also descended to the mortal realm?

Doesn't that mean that they were manipulated to follow through the written script."

He explained his assumption.

Hearing his reasoning, Tina couldn't help but be more amazed.

On the other hand, the wild monkey leader was beyond enraged.

It gathered wind elemental force in its mouth preparing to shoot it off, targeting Kanzen.

Kanzen sensing the surging of natural elemental essence in the surroundings looked up and gave the wild monkey leader a nonchalant sidelong glance.

That momentary side long glance was enough for him to activate "absolute cancel" completely erasing the beast's prepared attack.

Not expecting its most powerful attack to disappear just from a mere glance the beast leader couldn't help but gawk in fear as it look at Kanzen.

Quickly understanding that the daring human before them isn't something they can handle.

Tina looks at the beast leader, pity can be seen in her gorgeous crystal like eyes.

[You're really something else you know that.

For you to come up with such an accurate point even though you have little to no information.

You're a monster.]

She said, a wide vibrant smile present in her transcendental like beauty.

He smiled back, proud to be praised.

"I will take that as a compliment."

He said with a gentle smile back to Tina.

However, that gentle smile of his, to the eyes of the beast leader it wasn't so gentle, it was instead terrifying and eerie.

The beast leader quickly ordered its people to evacuate, it didn't sense any danger coming from Kanzen but its intuition is blaring alarms bells.

So, it didn't hesitate to order an escape.

[I was planning to inform you about this later on but now seems to be the right moment.

You possess a unique authority and this authority allows you to somewhat ignore the workings of natural concepts.

This authority is a part of me that has been shared to you through our connection.

And natural concepts such as karma, fate, destiny, and fortune are just one of these things you have resistance over.]

Tina explained, with a bitter smile on her face.

"Doesn't that mean…"

Hearing his big sis Tina's explanation, Kanzen couldn't help but developed a genuine look of surprise.

[Yes, you don't have to be worried too much that you are being manipulated by these concepts behind the scenes.

You can do what you want.

Your existence alone can even affect those people who were being influenced by these concepts.

You don't have to worry about the consequences of your actions, as this 'reality' itself desires to escape the shackles of these natural concepts.

The more you act, the more the 'reality' favors you.

You can even make use these concepts to your advantage the moment you succeed in comprehending them.]

She explained, her tone proud but for some reason a bit bitter.

The bitterness in her tone came from the fact that she had hidden something this important from him.

He quickly got the wind of this thanks to his perceptive wits.

"Good to know, thank you big sis, Tina.

But why withhold such crucial info."

He sighed in relief, happy that he cannot be manipulated by concepts even though it wasn't guaranteed.

Kanzen hated being manipulated of all things, this came into fruition due to his previous life's trauma.

Getting assured that he cannot be manipulated that easily was enough assurance for him.

The beast leader had long left the area he occupied.

It already travelled 500 meters in distance.

Yet it could still sense the danger looming over it coming from Kanzen.

[I don't want you to waste your time thinking so much about such complicated things.

That's all…]

She said without even blinking.

Her way of words might have complicated things.

But it doesn't really matter because she didn't honestly have a motive of sort.

"Fair enough."

Unexpectedly, he just nodded, accepting her unconvincing reasoning.

He raises his hand, a glimmering magic circle surrounded by more than a hundred smaller magic circles manifesting atop his palm.

"maximize magic × 10, magic missiles."

He pointed the magic circles to the escaping beasts a kilometer afar.

Swoosh…! Swoosh…! Swoosh…!

[You have killed an early stage intermediate level 2 wild monkey]

[You have killed an early stage intermediate level 2 wild monkey]

[You have killed an early stage intermediate level 2 wild monkey]

[You have killed an early stage intermediate level 3 wild monkey]

[Do you really have to do that? Their leader is just a level 3 beast and an intermediate grade at that, it doesn't post a threat to you.]

She asked, not out of pity for the beasts but for his own action.

He might act cruel and merciless, but Tina knew better, she knew that even though the hero had long been gone, its remnants are still there deeply hidden in his heart.

"It's their fault for trying to target me, I didn't specifically come to hunt them, I'm just passing by."

He reasoned, trying to push the blame to the beasts.

[Obviously, they would set out to target you, dummy! You've crossed their territory.]

She could only shake her head.

"What's done is done, there's no turning back…"

He muttered looking at the distance horizon where the corpses of the beast were burnt into crisp.

[…]

Hearing such domineering words of clear disregard coming from his mouth, she had fallen speechless for a moment.

She could only sigh inwardly.
