*Vanessa’s POV*
Erik was gone by the time I came out of the shower, and I didn’t know if I was saddened by the fact or not, but a small part of me was relieved somewhat.
I wanted to be alone for a moment to collect myself. I tried to come to understand what had happened in the lake, but I found that my head and brain weren’t working together. Despite knowing how to swim, despite knowing that I could swim back in my own world and my old body…I couldn’t seem to be move it in this one. I didn’t know why Vanessa’s body wasn’t listening to my brain.
How far does that stretch? How far does it reach?
I was startled out of my thoughts just as I finished dressing when the door to my room rattled, and a knock sounded from the door. I looked around for a moment to see that nothing was misplaced or out of the ordinary before going to the door and unlocking it.
“Aria—”
“Can we talk?” Ariana asked as she barged into my room.
