Locating the library was so easy that it felt like I was somehow cheating. There were no guest wandering the halls, thankfully, and the very minimal guards that were placed throughout the estate could be easily avoided.
I got into the library and shut the door behind me in record time, making me almost sag in relief.
It’s not over yet, I had to remind myself. I still needed to do the hard part.
Pushing away from the door, I gathered my skirts and headed up the winding stairs. I wasn’t that familiar with the structure of the library, but I could vaguely remember the set-up of it from one of the later novels where Erik had gone to find information about his mother’s pendant.
He’d ended up discovering that it’d had healing properties and could heal anyone of a mortal wound. His mother’s spirit had blessed the stone for her only son.
