{Penguin and his men are holed up inside the house. It seems they have no idea that Sionis, Flass, Branden, and the SWAT team are ready to storm the house.}
Robin sits perched on a building across from a house where two SWAT cars and two police cruisers are parked on the curb. About a dozen SWAT members were surrounding the front of the house in defensive positions using the cars as cover.
He spots movement by a black Sedan and sees Black Mask exit the car as Branden and Flass who still has Alexandra hostage approach him.
{This has gone on long enough. I have to rescue and get Alexandra out of here. I will probably miss my chance at getting Black Mask or Penguin, but for now, she's my main priority. It's the least I could do for using her as bait.}
Robin turns his attention to the three men and listens to the conversation through the bug he planted on Alexandra, under the cover of the smoke in the gymnasium. "That's the girl?" Black Mask asks. "Don't get attached. All you need to know is she'll be inside when the place blows," Branden says pointing an accusing finder at Flass. "Calm the fuck down. As long as it all lands on Penguin. Loeb will look soft on crime and we all move forward," Flass says scowling at Branden. "Sacrifices must be made for the good of the group. Even small ones. Now, get her inside." Black Mask says.
The conversation ends as Black Mask gets back in his car and is driven away. Alexandra is taken by two SWAT members and taken towards the house with tears streaking down her face. Robin jumps off the ledge, grapple hooks, and swings straight towards her and the two men just as they reach the porch. He kicks the man on her left sending him crashing into the man on her right.
Robin lands in front of her and throws shock charges at four men that have their guns pointed at them and shocking them. He hears a window open on the second floor of the house and dodges out of the way of a shotgun blast. He quickly pulls his cape in front to protect himself from an onslaught of bullets from the police who started firing at him. He glances behind him to make sure Alexandra is alright only to see Penguin snatch her and pull her into the house.
Robin winces and grunts in pain as a few stray bullets penetrate through his cape and graze him. He turns and sprints into the house tossing smoke pellets as he barges in covering his entrance. He goes for the closes person jumping and kneeing him hard in the face and knocking him out.
He flips over two men, lands behind them, and kicks one on the back off the knee making him kneel. He punches the other one and elbows him on the jaw knocking him out, he grabs the kneeling one by the hair pulls his head back punches him in the face out cold.
As the smoke dissipates Penguin walks out of another room holding Alexandra at gunpoint, "That'll do just nicely, friend. I think we're all adequately impressed," Penguin sneers holding a detonator in his free hand. "Why don't y--" He is cut off screaming in pain as Robin throws a Birdarang that hits the back of his hand making him drop the detonator. Robin rushes at Penguin who throws Alexandra at him and turns tail and runs away. Robin catches her and starts untieing her, "Don't worry. I've got you. You're safe," He comforts her as she grabs onto him crying on his chest. Robin picks up the detonator and crushes it.
{The rats are fleeing the ship. It's hard to see the good that will come from all of this.}
Robin watches Penguin and his men run away as the police chase after them.
{As far as I know, I'm the only one who has figured out that Black Mask and Roman Sionis are one and the same. The rest of New York needs to know his respectability is the real mask he hides behind.}
[The Next Day]
"After a shootout in Hell's Kitchen that led to the discovery of a house full of explosives. The City made an emergency decision to delay election proceedings... Until a full investigation by District Attorney Harvey Dent can be concluded." A glass is thrown at a TV screen, "You have got to be fucking kidding me" Black Mask yells glaring at the news anchor on the screen.
--Line Break--
"Sources close to the investigation tell that allegations of corruption inside the NYPD are central to the DA's case... And is set to widen to other areas of city government.". Nathan turns off the news channel from the Super Computer and turns in his chair grinning victoriously at Robin and Victor, "Did we kick ass or what?" Nathan says holding up a high-five at Robin who just stares at him and sighs reciprocating the high-five. "I should've taken them all down directly." Robin sighs crossing his arms. "Still, I suppose the suspension of the election keeps the City out of their hands."
"For now.." Victor says frowning. Robin and Nathan turn and look at him, Robin's face is impassive and Nathan looks slightly irritated at Victor's pessimism. "You know they'll try again. It's a zero-sum game. And I don't like your odds, Robin," Victor says and walks away from the pair. "God does he always have to be such a downer," Nathan groans in annoyance glaring at Victor's back. Robin says nothing and just looks contemplative.
{For Victor, the choice to stop seems simple. Ever since he found out I'm just a kid he's been trying to get me to stop. He feels the need to protect for some reason.}
Robin shakes his head and looks at Nathan and shrugs patting him on the shoulder, "Don't worry about him, he'll come around," Robin walks away leaving Nathan sitting in his chair.
{For me, it's also simple. My need to protect the city is what drives me and that's something much bigger and more important than us.}
