Chapter 14 - Hacking The Genius

[21 May 2004]

It's a Friday night in Manhattan and our resident vigilante Robin sprints across rooftops chasing after a car that was involved in a recent jewelry store break-in. "Come on," Robin growls and pushes himself to his limit leaping across the roof and landing on the roof of the car, bumping a bit but gripping onto the sides of the roof steading himself. "Shit it's the freak," One of the men shouts in shock. "Get him the fuck off," Another yells. The car starts swerving trying to throw Robin off.

Robin grips on tightly swaying left to right from the swerving. "Fuck it, I'll do it myself," One of the men in the car exclaims and loads a gun pointing it at the roof and firing aimlessly until he hears a thud sound and looks back seeing Robin rolling on the road behind them, "That's how you do it," He cheers high fiving his partners in crime as they drive off escaping the vigilante.

"Fuck," Robin growls in anger getting up from the asphalt and glaring at the car. He sighs and then winces feeling warm liquid on his right bicep. "Fucking great the one place my suit doesn't have covered," He grumbles in annoyance looking at the bullet wound leaking a decent amount of blood. He takes out his medkit from his utility belt and bandages the wound for now until he gets back to the Birds Nest. He tests the arm wincing from the movement. "Great, just perfect," He groans. "I hope Glitch likes visitors," He sighs and ducks into an alley making his way to Glitch's apartment.

Nathan opens the door to his apartment still frantically kissing Sara, she kicks the door closed behind her. He caresses her thighs and then lifts her up causing her to wrap her legs around his waist, and pushes her against the wall rubbing his crotch into her core, to which she moans breaking the kiss leaning her head back against the wall with her eyes closed. He starts laying open mouth kisses on her neck and nibbling here and there. She reaches between them and lifts the front of her skirt and grinds frantically trying to get some friction on her panty covered clit. "Am I interrupting something?" A modulated voice asks blandly, scaring the shit out of Sara and Nathan.

"Jesus christ man!!," Nathan exclaims trying to calm his racing heart. The modulated voice chuckles amused and says unapologetically, "Sorry,". Sara unwraps her legs from Nathan and steps behind him trying to smooth out her clothes and hair, "A friend of yours? And what's up with the voice modulator?" She asks raising an eyebrow at Nathan who is trying to position his bulge in a comfortable position. "Something like that, and it's to hide his identity," He grumbles running his hand through his hair and glaring at the figure standing in the shadows of his unlit loft.

"Identity?" Sara asks moving to stand next to Nathan looking at the shadowy figure curiously. "Allow me to introduce myself," The figure says as the lights of the loft switches on revealing Robin standing by the windows his right bicep covered with a slight red bandage. "I'm-", "Robin!?" Sara exclaims in disbelieve staring at the vigilante. Robin just smirks looking at her wide eyed disbelieving expression. "What are you doing here Robin?" Nathan asks crossing his arms frowning. "I got shot in the arm so I can't really grapple back to base without doing more damage to the wound..." Robin answers pointing to his bandaged bicep.

"So you decided to stop by my apartment why?" Nathan asks tilting his head. "Hold on a fucking second..." Sara exclaims holding up her hand causing both men to look at her. "How do you know Robin?" Sara asks Nathan. Nathan sighs scratching the back of his head, "I kind of...sort of...work with him," He mutters guiltily. "Oh...So all those times you would cancel on our dates and abruptly leave whenever I slept over," Sara says realization dawing on her. "She's a smart one," Robin says nodding impressed. "Oh thanks," Sara blushes. "What are you doing here exactly Robin?" Nathan asks narrowing his eyes at him. Robin stares impassively and then sighs, "I need a place to recover for a bit then I'll be off,"

"...Fine you can sleep on the couch, just don't get any blood on it," Nathan says pointing at his couch. Robin nods and removes his cape laying it down on the couch and laying down. Sara watches Robin lay down and close his eyes, she turns to Nathan gesturing to the upstair floor, "So you work with Robin huh," Sara says casually looking at Nathan with a raised eye brow. "It's a long story," Nathan sighs and starts making his way to his bedroom. "Oh I love stories," Sara says smirking following after him.

The next night Nathan stomps in to the Bird's Nest scowling at Robin who is working on an upgrade for his staff. "What the fuck man!?" Nathan shouts glaring at him. Robin just glances to him and continues installing the deployable shield to his staff, after he had removed the grappling hook function and just made a grapple gun. "Weren't you the one that was whining because you wanted to stop sneaking around behind you're girlfriends back," Robin says picking up the now upgraded staff and twirling it around a bit and then deploys the shield, that springs from the middle of the staff in the shape of a oval blocking most of his top and bottom half. He retracts the shield back into staff and checks it over for any issues. "I did not whine...but that's besides the point. I wanted to like ease her into it," Nathan sighs. "Relax she took it better than most women would finding out that their boyfriend is working with a criminal," Robin says flippantly collapsing his staff and storing it in his utility belt. "Yeah she did," Nathan nods.

Robin walks away saying, "Make sure she doesn't mess with my stuff," and exits the base off to patrol the night for crime. Nathan stiffens and blushes in embarrassment, "You can come out Sara...He knows,". Sara peaks her head around the corner of the door leading into the command room and walks in looking around at the room in wonder and awe, "Wow this looks like those cool underground bases in those spy movies," She says in wonder, she brushes her hand on the large round table,"Is this where you have like your super hero meetings and stuff?" She asks turning to Nathan who is staring at her observing the room. "Yeah, something like that,"

"Is that where he makes those cool gadgets he uses?" She gestures to the table with different kinds of equipment on the far right corner of the room. "Yeah... but I did say to put the workbench in the armoury but he said no," Nathan mutter annoyed. Sara just nods and moves over to the supercomputer, "Wow this computer is decades advanced than anything out right now," She praises looking over the different features and programs on the supercomputer. "Yep, Me and Robin made it ourselves... Cutting edge technology right there," Nathan walks over grinning proudly and takes his seat by the computer.

"Where did you get the funding for all this stuff?" She asks curiously. "I would tell you but even I don't know," He shrugs getting to work and tracking Robin's position. "He doesn't tell you?" She asks surprised. "Nope, I don't even know who he is behind the mask," He shakes his head. "I guess I can understand him trying to separate his vigilante identity and his civilian identity to protect those around him," She nods her head. "Yeah I guess...anyway I better get to work," He turns to the seeing a notification from Robin. She smiles watching his entire demeanor change and starts helping Robin through the comms link.

[A Week Later]

Robin enters the Bird's Nest with a scowl on his face. He enters the armoury showers and changes in to a black shirt, grey sweat pants and sneakers, keeping his mask on. He enters the command room and slumps on his chair with a huff. "You okay man?" Nathan asks concerned glancing back at him. "No I'm not okay, this is the second fucking car I let get away," Robin growls angrily. "Cheer up man it's not easy trying to stop a moving car without everyone getting seriously hurt in the process," Nathan says trying to calm him down.

"You have a point...If I only I..." Robin looks at Nathan with a dawning expression on his face and gets up walking over to the supercomputer. "If only you had what?" Nathan asks confused moving his chair to the side as Robin come stands next to him. "Using my grappling hook is a great exercise and fun but it gets tiring after a while... So I need a vehicle to move easily through the city and I know just the person to ask... Hopefully he says yes," Robin says and starts getting to work on the computer. "Who?" Nathan asks curious watching him, hack into a system. A few minutes later Robin gives him his answer with a smirk, "Well hello Mr. Stark,".

Nathan stares at him wide eyed and shocked. "Who are you? And How did get past my security measures?" Tony Starks asks. "For now you can call me Robin. And I need your help with something Mr. Stark," Robin asks and smirks as he watches a notification pop on the screen that something is trying to breach his defences. "Robin? As in the vigilante from New York?" Tony asks. "The one and only," Robin says and looks to Nathan seeing him, working on keeping Stark from hacking into their systems.

"Hmm... What do you want?" Tony asks, "I need a vehicle... A bike preferably," Robin says. "And what do I get?" Tony asks. "I'll owe you a favor," Robin replies. "A favor really? Tony scoffs. "Yes you can call upon me once if you are ever in serious danger, and I'll come running," Robin states. "...Where do you want the bike delivered, when it's done?" Tony asks. "I'll sent you the coordinates and I'll pick it up..." Robin says. "Quick question... You mind telling me how you were able to hack into my systems?" Tony asks. "Pleasure doing business with you Mr. Stark." Robin smirks ending the call.

"Holyshit I can't believe, I just beat Tony Stark in a hack off," Nathan exclaims in awe at himself. "Like I said you're a great hacker. You just have to tone down with the arrogance and stop underestimating your opponents sometimes," Robin says patting him on the shoulder. "Thanks man," Nathan grins leaning back in his chair.
