Poppy aching head rested on the blonde fae's shoulder. Her eyes refused to dry out as more tears kept coming in. She could feel his shirt get wet but the Fae didn't mind, he just continued to pat her back softly, allowing her to pour out her emotions. Poppy still couldn't allow it, faes were manipulative creatures waiting for someone to bring out their emotions and use it against them. Getting a hold of herself, she dried her cheeks with the back of her bruised hand and crawled backwards to the headboard.
"What do you want?" she asked with a slight harshness covering her tone.
"I just want to help you with your injuries, you have a lot of broken bones".
Poppy couldn't deny that his voice was as gentle as the night sky but still she couldn't buy it. Faes have loads of strategies to get what they want and this one she suspected seriously.
"Go away, they'll heal on their own." more harshness added to her voice but the Fae only showed her a slight smile.
"They won't and even if they do, it would take a very long time, trust me."
Trust! Trust! he couldn't be serious.
"And why should I believe you?"
"Because, I'm a healer and I know how all these things work."
A long moment of silence passes by and Poppy couldn't help but think of what he said, should she trust him? because he seems like one who wasn't going to hurt her, rather he just wants to help her but still her instincts got in the way... 'Don't trust any Fae' it's rang it her head like her town's bell. She sniffs in and shifts her view to her side gazing at the open windows, she shiver, as the cold, forcing her to bring her knees up to her chest and wrap her arms around them tight.
"Are you feeling cold?" the Fae asks her. She turns her view to him and just stares into his ember eyes as they showed worry. Poppy couldn't say anything to him and suddenly he stood up, speeding towards the windows, he shut them close and drops the curtains, walking to the other opened windows, he shut them closed as well and walks to the bed, he sat far from her, at the edge of the bed looking at her, Poppy noticed his eyes flickering but she couldn't tell with what emotions, she just gazes at him, try to choose between trusting or suspecting him.
"What is your name?" he suddenly ask "if you should try to trust me, let's started from somewhere, so what is your name?"
"Poppy." she blurts out surprised at herself, she didn't want to tell him, didn't want anyone to know what her name was. Faes she heard, could do magic with names and she didn't want to be a victim, what has she done?!
"Poppy like the flower...I like it. I'm Gydrin, pleased to meet you." and he beamed a smile at her while outstretching his hand for her. Poppy looks at his hand that await for a shake and then his face, he held no grudge or hate against her instead it seems like he wanted to be friends with her, not wanting to be rude, she outstretched hers and put her bruised hand in his, her hand felt small in his as he wraps his hand on hers and shook it gently, he hand felt warm and smooth which could crush hers in a matter of seconds, he releases her hand and stood up.
"Are you leaving?" Poppy asked surprised at herself again, he could go to hell if he wants to, but somehow she couldn't deny the fact that she enjoyed his company even if they didn't know each other much, somehow, he reminded her of Mara.
"No, not yet though." and then he walks towards her with the tray he came with. On in stood a big white mug filled with a brown substance.
"Drink, it'll help you heal" he stretches the mug towards her. Poppy looked at it with suspicion and then at him, was it a drug? no she won't take it. He raised a brow at her in amusement.
"It's drugged but with the sedative that'll help you heal"
"And how am I sure you're say the truth?"
"Because there's nothing I'll gain from lying to you." still she didn't attempt to take it but before she could talk, he gulps down a small quantity of it.
"See, it doesn't harm anyone."
"And how am I sure you're immune to what is in there?"
"No I'm not immune to it, a sedative is inside to help you sleep. Immediately I'm done here, I'm going to sleep."
"And how will it help with my healing?"
"The medicine will work when you drink and sleep. It's not dangerous I assure you."
Poppy still didn't want to believe it but she had no choice, if indeed there's a medicine to help her heal then she had to take it, she didn't know how long time she'll stay here and if she has to escape, then she needs all the healing and strength she can get, taking the mug from him, she gulped down the content in hunger not caring to examine it, slowly she stopped gulping it and drank it normally. Observing and enjoying the sweet taste of it, like coffee and cocoa and it was warm in a rich way.
When she was done, she couldn't help but smile at him as she gave him the mug back.
"Thank you..." she said slowly with a small voice, he returned her smile to her.
"You're welcome" and he stands up. Slowly she lays down on the bed as her head got light and her eyelids became heavy. Gydrin covers her with the blankets and whispers.
"Good night Poppy." and the last thing Poppy heard was the footsteps fading away and the shut of the door before she dozed off.
