Chapter 8 - Giving Up

Three months had passed since that night full of emotions, and since then, things have not been better for Goku and Bulma. They made the trip to the university together and ate at different restaurants. They also walked in the park and had fun as usual.

Bulma's pregnancy progressed favorably, and as time passed, her belly got bigger. She would soon have to drop out of college. Goku, the black-haired man, continued with his training but spent most of the time with her. He had promised that he would be with her during the nine months of pregnancy and would not fail in his promise to her.

Her friends still didn't know about Bulma's pregnancy. The time would come when they would communicate that shocking news, no matter how surprising it might be.

Bulma didn't even want to imagine the reaction Yamcha would have upon learning that the boy who took her virginity (or the other way around in this case) and the one who would be the father of her first child was none other than Goku.

Although it had been a while since they stopped dating, that would leave a tremendous mark on Yamcha's vision. How could a playboy like him have lost against someone as innocent as Goku? But if she had to choose who she preferred as the father of her son, she would choose Goku over Yamcha without hesitation.

A new day began in the life of Bulma, who had decided to leave the university on this very day due to her pregnancy. She slowly opened her blue eyes and saw the white clouds in the sky as she received the sun's rays on her face. She turned off the alarm clock that had reluctantly rang a few seconds ago and got out of bed.

"Today is the day," Bulma spoke with a smile on her lips as she yawned on the way to the bathroom. She entered the bathroom and after a pleasant bath, she stood in front of the mirror, contemplating her reflection for a few moments.

"My life has changed. In six months, I will be a mother. Who would have thought?" said the blue-eyed girl with a smile as she shook her head at the thought.

Freshly dressed, combed, and doused with an aromatic perfume, Bulma left her room with a smile on her lips, unaware that someone was following her.

"Good morning!" a male voice sounded behind her, causing her to jump in shock. Bulma was about to fall, but luckily, the owner of the voice moved quickly to prevent her from falling.

"I'm sorry, Bulma. It wasn't my intention," the black-haired man said. Before he could finish speaking, Bulma pulled away from him with a large vein standing out on her temple.

"Are you crazy? How could you scare me like that?" Bulma yelled as the boy began to back away out of fear.

"I really didn't mean to...ahhh an ultrasonic blue hedgehog!" Goku pointed to the window behind Bulma, who turned around in curiosity.

Unfortunately, her friend had already left as quickly as a soul carried away by the devil.

"Goku!" the blue-haired girl screamed loudly after being taunted by the black-haired man, who was surely hiding somewhere in the big house.

Later, the black-eyed man was hiding in a closet, scared since he didn't know what Bulma would do if she found him.

"I hope she doesn't find me," Goku whispered with a bead of sweat falling down the back of his neck.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps approaching the closet became more present. Goku gulped, hoping not to be seen.

"I found you!" Bulma yelled as she opened the closet doors, much to Goku's dismay.

"B-Bulma, w-we can talk. Just...aaaaah" Goku didn't finish his words before Bulma began to settle their argument.

Some time later, they were both sitting at the table having breakfast. Goku was eating fearfully, looking at Bulma with several lumps on his head.

'Now I understand why Bulma can't get on my flying cloud,' he thought to himself, giving a nod. As if Bulma had guessed his thoughts, she turned to him and shot him a threatening look that would have scared anyone. She smiled satisfactorily when she saw the fear in the black-haired man's eyes. She liked to be in control.

"In a few minutes, we will go to my university. I will present my letter of resignation," the blue-eyed girl said, watching Goku as she ate a toast.

The black-haired man nodded, finishing his breakfast. Before he arrived at Capsule Corporation, he had eaten quite a bit at his house, so he didn't need to eat much more.

"Let's go?" The black-haired man got up from the seat next to Bulma, and they both began to walk towards the exit. They met Doctor Briefs and Panchy, Bulma's mother, who were quietly having breakfast.

"Good morning, dear. Do you want a drink?" Panchy asked with a pleasant smile. She then turned to the black-eyed man, giving him a friendly smile. Goku reciprocated the gesture, looking alternately at Panchy and her husband.

"No, Mom. I just had breakfast with Goku, and now we're going to college," Bulma argued as her mother took a bite of a delicious blueberry cake.

"I see. Have a good day, daughter," Dr. Briefs chimed in with a smile. Bulma nodded and motioned for her best friend to keep up.

"Should I call my flying cloud?" the boy questioned, intending to invoke the gift that Master Roshi had given him so long ago.

"Let's go by car. It was difficult to comb my hair, and I don't want to go with messy hair," Bulma replied, and the black-haired man groaned. He liked going on his flying cloud.

After that, Bulma took a capsule out of her bag and threw it a few feet away, creating a smoke screen that dissipated seconds later, revealing a red touring car.

"Will we go in this car?" Goku asked, pointing to the vehicle in front of them.

"Yeah, since the university isn't far enough, I prefer that we have a more relaxed journey. Don't you think?" Bulma asked as she walked to the car door.

"Yes...I guess you're right," Goku answered, smiling.

The black-haired man sat in the passenger seat while Bulma was the driver. They both put on their seat belts, although Goku had some difficulties doing so.

"Are you ready?" Bulma asked as she started the vehicle's engine and looked at the black-eyed man next to her.

"I am. We can go," Goku answered calmly, and they immediately began to move, joining the heavy traffic in the city. Bulma turned on some music to liven up the quiet atmosphere in the vehicle.

"I think you should get a driver's license. It's about time," Bulma suggested without looking directly at Goku. He scratched the back of his neck nervously.

"I-I don't think it's necessary. I'm fine with my flying cloud," the boy replied, moving his hands comically. Bulma glared at him.

"You will, or else you won't get any food," Bulma threatened in a cold, dark tone, earning a slight nod from her friend.

"Y-yes, Bulma. I will," Goku answered, looking fearfully at the girl. Bulma smirked at hearing those words and said, "I'm glad to hear that, Goku. You don't know how happy I am! You will be an exemplary father. Now you just need to find work." Goku began to whistle in another direction when he heard those words.

Bulma looked at him with an arched brow, but she focused on continuing to drive. Later, she would have a chat with Goku about finding a job.

After a while, they reached the university, and Bulma parked her car in a parking lot at the back of the building. They both got out of the vehicle and started walking towards the front door. They walked down an empty corridor, as most of the students were in their classrooms taking their classes.

Bulma smiled wistfully, remembering all the moments she had spent in that place. There, she had met several of her friends and spent most of her time speaking with them. But all that was over.

"Are you crying, Bulma?" Goku asked, looking at her with concern as her eyes were watery.

"No, just something got in my eye," the blue-eyed girl replied with a slight smile. Goku nodded, not entirely convinced.

They kept walking until they saw a beautiful woman with glasses leaning against the wall, reading.

"Shizune-sensei," Bulma smiled when she saw the secretary, who stopped reading and looked up at her.

"Oh, it's you, Bulma. Glad to see you again," Shizune spoke with a smile as they greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek.

"Yes, I came to speak with the principal, you know," Bulma said, and Shizune nodded, understanding that Bulma was pregnant and would have to drop out of college.

"I see, and who is this handsome boy?" Shizune asked, smiling as she watched the black-haired man.

"It's my friend Goku, and this is Shizune, Goku," Bulma formally introduced them, and they shook hands, although Shizune lingered with the shake longer than usual, causing a drop of sweat on the black-haired man.

"I think you can stop now, Shizune-sensei," Bulma snapped with a nervous smile, and Shizune instantly let go of Goku's hand as if she had suffered a cramp.

Shizune Ryoko was a 27-year-old woman who worked as a secretary at the university. Her parents died in a car accident about 12 years ago, but fortunately, some of her relatives took care of her education. She lived in a humble apartment in East City and relied on her secretary job to cover her housing and personal expenses.

"If you want, I'll accompany you to the principal's office," Shizune suggested with a smile, and Bulma nodded pleasantly.

"So he's going to be the father of your child?" Shizune whispered with a smile, and Bulma's face flushed.

"Y-yes, it's going to be him," she answered, blushing at the question, but Shizune's curiosity couldn't be quenched.

"He's not my boyfriend, Shizune-sensei," Bulma emphasized. "He's my best friend. I just got pregnant by accident." Shizune's eyes widened as she understood the situation.

"I see. Youth these days is full of surprises! Becoming parents by accident, how crazy!" Shizune exclaimed, momentarily forgetting that Bulma's best friend is actually four years older than her.

"I would appreciate it if you could keep this matter discreet, Shizune-sensei," Bulma requested politely. She didn't want anyone at her university to find out about her pregnancy.

"Don't worry, Bulma. I won't say a word," Shizune assured her. Bulma smiled in gratitude.

The two women continued chatting, while Goku listened in without fully understanding their conversation. However, he didn't give it much importance either.
