Bulma paid for the entire purchase with her credit card and stored it in a capsule for comfort. They were walking aimlessly, and Goku expected Bulma to take him to a restaurant to eat, as that had been their agreement. However, Bulma wanted to tease Goku by pretending that they wouldn't be eating anything, just to see how he would react.
"Hey Bulma, can we get something to eat? I'm pretty hungry," Goku said, scratching the back of his head and ruffling his hair.
"We already ate at Fusui's shop. I don't see why we should stop somewhere else," Bulma replied, trying to maintain a serious expression.
"So, we won't eat anything?" Goku asked, looking sad, like a puppy. Bulma's heart moved by the innocent and naive look on the boy's face, and she gently caressed his cheek.
"Of course, we'll have lunch, glutton. I was just teasing you," Bulma said with a sly smile. Goku scratched the back of his neck nervously, as was his habit.
"Great, I'm starving," Goku spoke with a dramatic expression, frowning.
"Would you like to have ice cream? Then you can eat something else at home if you want," Bulma suggested, knowing that the "if you want" was unnecessary in the sentence.
"Yes, of course!" Goku gave a nod of approval and, smiled. They both headed towards the nearest ice cream parlor, which was a few meters away.
"Hey, why do you scratch the back of your neck all the time?" Bulma asked, noticing that Goku had this habit for years.
"Scratch the back of my neck? I don't know what you're talking about. Let's go get that ice cream," Goku replied, scratching the back of his neck as he spoke.
Bulma couldn't help but lightly pat her forehead before her lips curved upwards in a pleasant smile. She was amused by the wit and nonsense of her friend, Son Goku.
That ice cream parlor was famous for its heavenly and succulent ice creams. They were known throughout the region. The shrill sound of the bell rang as Bulma and Goku entered the room, which was empty except for two women and two girls.
"Most customers come later. We are lucky that it's not full," Bulma mentioned with a smile. However, Goku was already focused on the counter where the various ice cream flavors were displayed. To say that there were many flavors was an understatement.
"Good afternoon. What do you want to order?" a green-haired girl asked them with a smile. However, Goku was still in a state of shock.
Bulma smacked him in the center of his head, looking angry. The poor boy only rubbed the area where he was hit, with small tears in his eyes.
"Oh, why did you hit me, Bulma? I was just looking at the ice cream... wait, this ice cream looks delicious! And this one too! They all look delicious!" Goku commented with the fascination of a small child.
It didn't take long for a bead of sweat to appear on the temples of the two girls present. A sigh escaped Bulma's lips, followed by a shake of her head.
"Give him at least half the flavors. I think that will satisfy him," Bulma spoke sadly. The poor girl's eyes widened in surprise when she saw a card with the Capsule Corporation logo.
'Thank God, I think there will be a lot of profit today,' the girl thought to herself as she took note of Bulma's order.
After ordering, they both went to a seat. Goku wasted no time in devouring his ice cream, while Bulma calmly ate Strawberry ice cream of her own.
The green-haired girl was impressed by the speed with which the black-eyed man ate his ice cream, and wondered if he even bothered to taste it.
"Slower, sprinter, or your brain will freeze," the waitress said as she approached the table where Goku and Bulma were sitting. Goku saw the girl out of the corner of his eye.
"I-I think... It already froze," Goku said, speaking with difficulty as the excess of ice cream was taking its toll. At that, the girl smiled softly.
"I'm Akemi. Nice to meet you. And you are?" she cordially shook his hand, and Goku responded with a smile. "Oh, what's your name? Unless you really call yourself 'Ice Brains'," she added mockingly.
"Hehehe, I don't think so. I'm Son Goku. Nice to meet you. I hope we get along and become friends," he introduced himself, shaking Akemi's hand firmly.
"We weren't friends?" Akemi asked with mock sadness, while Bulma's eyebrow, which had been quiet until now, twitched slightly.
"Uh, well..." Goku didn't know how to answer and scratched the back of his neck, causing Akemi to laugh a little.
"It was a joke, Goku. By chance, are you the boy who participated in the martial arts tournament and reached the finals?" Akemi asked, observing Goku's hairstyle.
"Well, it's me. Hehehe, I lost twice in the final," Goku answered, remembering the time he lost against Jackie Chün (alias of Master Roshi) and against Tenshinhan, a member of the Three-Eyed clan who was now a student of Kame Sennin, like the little Chaotzu.
"Oh really?! Could you sign an autograph for me? I've followed those tournaments since I was little and I've always admired your courage," Akemi asked, with intense emotion.
"A what?" Goku asked, showing his confusion before Akemi walked away and returned a few seconds later with a napkin and a black ink pen in hand.
"Will you sign it for me? I've followed those tournaments since I was little and I've always admired your courage," Akemi asked, a little red in the face. This did not go unnoticed by Bulma.
"Are you going to participate in the next world tournament?"
"Yes, I'm definitely going to participate in the next world tournament," Goku replied with determination.
Not quite sure what he was supposed to do, Goku stamped his name on the napkin and handed it back to an excited Akemi.
"Here, here's your... napkin," he said, handing over the paper and scratching the back of his neck. Akemi took it gratefully.
First, the daughter of the Briefs paid a considerable sum of money for ice cream, and now she has met her hero and idol, one of the strongest beings in the world.
"Thank you very much! I'm your biggest admirer," Akemi said, '' that napkin would be my most valuable treasure. Would it be too much to ask for a selfie?"
"A sandwich? That would be great!" Goku almost choked on his own saliva at those words. Akemi smiled before correcting him.
"You see, s..." Akemi couldn't finish her sentence as a subtle throat clearing from Bulma interrupted their conversation.
The blue-haired girl, who had been listening to the chatter between Akemi and Goku, decided to put an end to what seemed to be the beginning of an interesting friendship.
Akemi snorted in annoyance at the gesture, and the two females locked gazes in a stare-down. Goku, lost in thought and brooding, swore he saw rays coming from the eyes of the two young women, colliding with each other as if there was intense magnetism between them.
Bulma frowned and rose from her seat, taking Goku's arm tightly. Goku couldn't help but feel confused by her actions.
"Goku, we're going home. We've had enough for today," Bulma declared, still frowning with a surly expression on her slender features.
"But Bulma..." Goku started to protest, but a threatening look from Bulma silenced him. He gulped. "W-well, thanks for the ice cream, Akemi!"
"You're welcome, I hope we'll see each other soon... Goku," Akemi said, smiling and raising her hand as a sign of farewell. Goku returned the gesture.
Akemi felt her insides melt as heat suddenly flooded her body. She took the napkin and decided to keep it in a safe place. Customers would be arriving soon.
Bulma snorted, watching her, and dragged Goku out of the ice cream shop. She wouldn't be returning there anytime soon, unless THAT girl stopped fooling around with HER Goku.
'What am I saying?' Bulma thought to herself, blushing slightly. No, Goku was just her best friend. She didn't want him in any other way.
She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't realize she was on the road. Luckily, before a truck could hit her, Goku took her in his arms and jumped to the other side of the road.
"Are you okay? You crossed without looking," Goku said, frowning with concern. He was worried about his friend and the mother of his child.
"Good, I'm glad you're both okay," Goku said, relieved. He couldn't help but feel a little guilty for not paying more attention to Bulma and for not protecting her better.
"I'm sorry for not paying more attention to you and for not protecting you better," he said, looking at her with a guilty expression.
"Oh Goku, it's okay. It was just a little mistake. You don't have to apologise," Bulma said, patting him on the head. "Besides, you saved me and the baby from getting hit by that truck. Thank you."
"No problem, Bulma. I'm just glad you're both safe," Goku replied, smiling at her.
"Well, we should probably get going now. We still have a long way to go," Bulma said, taking Goku's hand.
"Yeah, let's go," Goku agreed, following her as they walked down the street, their fingers intertwined.
