Chapter 9 - Preparing for the dungeon

The sun beams brightly in the sky, throwing out powerful rays of light to warm the land and brighten the day; beneath its radiant rays is Bravehearts Town. From above, you can see many gamers leaving town excitedly, preparing to fight monsters, level up, and get fascinating items while exploring the beautiful but dangerous landscape outside of town.

Players who have spent hours fighting monsters are also arriving in town and looking forward to selling their materials and purchasing valuable items from the many stores in Bravehearts Town. Among the crowd of players that entered Bravehearts Town are Julian, Alisa, and the gang. They are all wearing the same wooden mask that allows them to conceal their appearance; however, they still manage to attract the attention of nearby players.

" Look at that sexy girl! Her body is so sexy!"

" Hey, that group is all wearing the wooden mask. They must be noobs or something; they also have a sexy woman with them! Just how unfair this world has become. "

Alisa is wearing the mask, but she can't hide her seductive body from the eyes of the crowd. Noticing the reaction of the nearby player, Julian couldn't help but also look at Alisa's body and shake his head.

" You guys can explore the town for a bit. Don't forget to repair your weapon and equipment. I'll go and buy some potions and see if there are any available items around. "

"Understood, sir," Alisa said, her voice tinged with helplessness.

" Players can't take damage inside the town, Balmond. Okay, enough for that. I'll notify you when I'm done." Julian replied as he continued his way toward the town's center.

In Braveheart's town, There are only four stores where a player can conduct purchases and transactions. The first is the blacksmith shop, where players can fix their weapons and equipment; players can also buy items here; however, the weapons and equipment are only slightly better than those given to them at the start of the game. The alchemy shop is the second location where players can purchase ordinary health and mana potions. The third is the general store, where players can buy consumable goods and sell materials they obtained during their hunt. The last store is the tailor shop, where players can buy leather items such as bags and clothing; players could also sell the leather they harvest from the monster.

There is also the Bravehearts Town Hall, where players can purchase tickets to progress to the city; nevertheless, they can only gaze at the massive gate guarded by numerous town guards.

Julian's first destination is the alchemy shop, three streets away from the Bravehearts Town Hall. As Julian neared the alchemy shop, he saw many players exiting the shop with dark faces. After entering the alchemy shop, he understands why.

[Basic Health Potion (Tier 0)]

Restore 150 health after consuming.

[Basic Mana Potion (Tier 0)]

Restore 150 health after consuming.

Cooldown: 3 minutes

Cost: 20 silver coins

'No wonder those players have such an expression; buying these potions is practically throwing money around.' Julian thought to himself as he saw the price of the potion.

The currencies used in New Dawn Online are gold, silver, and bronze. 100 bronze coins are equal to 1 silver coin, and 100 silver coins are equal to 1 gold coin. You can buy bread at the general store for 40 bronze coins, while outside the game, 1 gold coin is equivalent to $5 dollars. This means that a single health potion costs $1, which is simply unbearable to casual players who only have a few silver coins in their inventory. Even Julian only has 41 gold coins in his inventory after all of his and the gang's adventures outside Bravehearts Town.

Julian could already envision a bunch of complaints at the New Dawn Online Forum. Julian could already foresee many whines and complaints from players on the New Dawn Online Forum. Julian, however, thinks that if done correctly, these kinds of exchanges and transactions would ultimately reflect the potential and profitability of the game.

Not wanting to waste any more time, Julian directly bought 60 health potions and 60 mana potions, which cost him a total of 24 gold coins. He then continues to his next destination, the blacksmith shop. After a few minutes of walking, Julian reached the building and was welcomed by a gruff but friendly middle-aged man, Blacksmith Hudson.

" What do you need, adventurer?" Hudson said he saw Julian enter his shop. Julian could tell from the man's gruff voice that he had seen his share of life, and yet there was a kindly twinkle in his eye as he asked Julian what he needed.

Seeing this realistic NPC, Julian can't help but marvel once again at the realism New Dawn Online offers. Julian looked around the blacksmith's shop and saw the items on display.

Julian notices that there are no headgear, armor, gloves, or accessories available at the blacksmith shop. There is only one weapon for every class, which makes Julian think more about the scarcity of equipment in the game.

In New Dawn Online, players can wear or equip headgear, upper armor, lower armor, pair gloves, and pair shoes. For accessories, players can wear or equip with two rings in each hand, one necklace, and pair of earrings. There are also items of decoration, such as bags, trinkets, medals, and more, that have their own unique attributes that players can wear.

After thinking for some time, Julian only buys two [Iron Shields] for Alisa and Tammy. Julian thought it was not cost-effective to spend more silver on a new weapon for just a little boost in damage, and it was more likely they could get a new weapon at the dungeon. He only bought the shields for the extra durability they provide. He didn't want to see his subordinates suffer for using their crappy wooden shields while dealing with enemies or monsters.

After Hudson repaired his weapon, Julian continued to his last destination, the tailor shop. He quickly saw the tailor shop next to Hudson's blacksmith shop. Entering the tailor shop, Julian saw all sorts of leather equipment, such as bags and clothing.

" Hello, adventure [Lucifer]! I see you've come to my store; do you need anything?" A sweet voice welcomed Julian as he entered the shop. He recognized the source of the voice of Seamstress Dianna.

" Hi, Miss Dianna. I want to buy six [Leather Bag] and five [Bull Leather Boots]. " Julian said as he looked at Seamstress Dianna. He didn't bother buying the [Wolf Leather Coat] for the same reason he didn't get a new weapon.

" Is there anything else you need?" Seamstress Dianna said after handing the items to Julian, which cost 2 gold coins and 75 silver coins.

" I also want to sell these Great Horned Bull hides." Julian took out a bunch of hides and placed them at the desk of Seamstress Dianna.

After looking at the quality of the Great Horned Bull hides, Seamstress Dianna offered 7 gold coins for them. Julian accepted the beautiful lady's offer and left the tailor shop after saying farewell to Seamstress Dianna.

Looking at the remaining 20 gold coins in his inventory, Julian can't help but feel helpless after spending 28 gold coins, or $140 dollars, in just those quick transactions. After making sure he had everything he needed to venture deep into the dungeon, Julian opened his voice chat and called the gang.

" Meet me up at the Bravehearts Town's Gate."

" Done, already? we'll be there quick, boss,"

" Right away, sir."
