Chereads / Pharaoh's Vengeful Prisoner / Chapter 34 - Recreation terrace

Chapter 34 - Recreation terrace

"Where did you find this thing?" Asim asked.

"I was sitting in the atrium when he appeared. He's so cute." Kissa smiled sweetly as she ran her hands through Gold's scales.

Asim remained rooted to where he was as Gold looked at him with his tongue still out.

"Since Lapis is not around, I decided to break the news to you myself." Asim drew her attention from Gold, who she was still caressing its scales.

"Yes Pharaoh?" Kissa asked.

"This new week we would be going into is an event filled week and I'm sure you know what that means." Asim asked as he leaned against the wall still looking at the snake who wasn't paying him attention anymore.

"Tomorrow night, we will be having the sending off feast for the soldiers setting out for the enemy's territory so I will be announcing Layla as my concubine during the feast."

Kissa tried her best not to roll her eyes so she just nodded in agreement.

"You can continue your training today because you will need it this coming week."

Asim turned to leave the room and Gold hissed at him, making him hurry up.

After Asim left, Kissa couldn't help but laugh. We couldn't believe despite being the ruler, he was scared of snakes.

"Pharaoh isn't scared of all snakes. He is only scared of Gold because of the history between them." Sabola seemed to understand the reason why Kissa was laughing.

Kissa touched Gold again and the eye of Horus and eye of Ra around her eyes flashed and a quick scene of Gold wrapping himself around Asim was shown till Dina commanded him away from Asim.

"Well, something bad must have happened during that time." Kissa said as she stood up. "I'll like to take a walk around."

Sabola was surprised she requested that because she did prefer to stay in her room all day if she isn't trying to escape.

Gold decided not to follow them. He just curled up on the bed looking like he was having a nap.

"He likes water, he stays where there's most of it in the room and rarely likes leaving the comfort of that place." Sabola explained and Kissa nodded before they headed outside the room.

Kissa walked into the recreation terrace with Sabola behind her. It is the one place in the palace where everyone - the concubines, guests, high ranked ladies and Lords in the palace - are allowed to go freely into the place.

Like other walls in the palace, each and every pillar and walls had a drawing on it. Those drawings told stories about those in the past and new ones were made to tell stories for the future.

The terrace was slightly noisy but not really that noisy. The terrace was one big one which was big enough to contain a large number of people.

Some kept quiet and started to whisper when they saw Kissa walk in with Sabola. Some of their children ran back to their mothers because they've told them Kissa was dangerous.

A little girl didn't see Kissa coming and ran into her, making her fall hard on her butt.

The girl wanted to burst into tears but when she saw Kissa kneel before her and give her a hand.

"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Kissa asked and the girl's face lit up.

"I'm fine auntie." She smiled as she took Kissa's hands and got up. "Thank you."

Kissa watched the girl run back to her mother before looking at Zahra who was looking away from the chess she was playing to look at her.

There were two maids behind her, massaging her shoulders and arms. One of them was busy changing ointments every now and then from the ceramic little bottles that were placed on a table.

The table was connected to the bowl which Zahra dipped her right hand in with water filling it up.

"Looks like you finally decided to be a human." Zahra sneered.

"Says the one who isn't a human." Kissa replied as she walked towards the stairs leading into the poo next to the terrace.

Kissa sat on the last stairs and pulled up her gown after taking off her shoes and she dipped her feet into the water.

The water was cool and refreshing. Water lilies were floating on the water and some were suck where the fountain was, a small lion statue with water pouring from its open mouth.

Some maids walked over to her and Sabola who was sitting two steps behind Kissa. They served Kissa a glass of warm white liquid which she has never seen before.

"Sabola, what is this?" Kissa asked.

"It is like wine my lady. It is made from grains and palm trees with little milk in it." Sabola explained. "It's what they drink mostly while playing games because it's not that alcoholic."

"Ooh looks intriguing." Kissa took a sip of it and it tasted really good.

"Would you like to play any games Lady Kissa? It'll help you relax because from tomorrow night, it is going to be a busy week for you." Sabola reminded her.

The following week is the most important week of the year. It is the week of harvesting and the week she and Asim visit the village.

Even though Asim was always about his projects more than going around to see all the people have done, Kissa was the one doing the job with Zahra and one other concubine Asim chose to accompany them.

It was like the only week she's allowed to go out and she loved the week because it was a colourful and lively one.

"Sure, I'd love to play a game for just an hour." Kissa said and Sabola nodded before signaling to a maid to bring a board game.
