Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Sirius's time with Vivian started off with him learning about human magic.

Magecraft.

The artificial reenactment of mystery usual done by inhumane beings. It is the ability to bring about what is possible through science with supernatural means; although the process is considered a miracle, the result is not. The limits of Magecraft have changed with time, as science evolved and Magic from the past became possible through science.

"So little Sirius. How about we start off with some basic reinforcement spells to start you off." Vivian playfully asked with a smile.

But Sirius was confused. "What about looking into my magic circuits? And don't I need to find out how much ode I have?"

magic circuits. The magical nervous system tied to a magus's soul. It is the nervous system that converts mana, the magical energy in the atmosphere, and ode, the magical energy inside a person, into prana. Prana is the energy that goes into spells.

"Normally you would, but I am a fairy mother. I can see through you easily, so you don't need to worry about that and I can tell you have an ample amount of ode within you~"

This led the two to reinforcement. A simple magecraft known to the world of magic. However Sirius was having a difficult time implementing the spell even after going through all the steps that Vivian carefully laid out for him.

SNAP

The stick snapped in half once again, much to Sirius's frustration. "Sirius. You are pushing too much into the object too fast." The Vivian picked up a twig next to her and proceeded to do what Sirius failed at.

When she was done, the twig glowed a vibrant blue. When she swung it at a nearby tree, the tree broke at the durability of the twig.

Sirius gaped at how effortlessly she did it, when he had been trying and failing hundreds of times at this point. "Sirius, you need to understand that you have always had magic circuits it's just your situation is making it difficult on how you control them. Think of having an arm but never using it and then gaining the urge to use it."

Sirius understood, but that wouldn't help when the foe fighting him did. Vivian sighed at his attitude. "Listen for the next month I want you to circulate your ode through your circuits. Do this from when you wake to when he go to bed. It will help with your control."

"Yes mam..."

One month later....

His magic circuits ignited with power and circulated the prana much better than before. He was even able to reinforce the twig to deal a massive dent to tree trunks with one full powered swig.

Vivian nodded. "See you can do anything you set your mind to. Now that I gave you some ideas of what magecraft you wanted to pursue. Two of them being you have showed interest in, Projection Magecraft, and Alchemy."

"Alchemy is the one that has the branch in Displacement, right?"

"Yes." Vivian nodded.

"Then lets go with that one. Being able to change materials at will would be valuable. And it's not like I can't learn Projection later."

"Alright, but first I think it's time for a shower. You stink to high heaven..." Vivian wafted her nose as her face scrunched up in disgust.

"You say that every time. How can you even smell me from all the way over there?"

Vivian smiled. "Magic."

Then she left into the house, leaving Sirius with whatever he wants to do for the rest of the day. 'Lets get some more work in. I can advance faster if I understand the magecraft more.'

Five months later....

Its been six months since he arrived here in this world and Sirius has adapted pretty well given he has no memory of what was common before given his very limited knowledge he had left.

"Ha!"

He stood, shirtless has he continuously went through the sword forms Vivian had given him early. Every time he messed up, Vivian would take away time he would put into his Reinforcement and Alchemical magecraft studies and put them into the circulating exercise instead which bore Sirius to high heavens.

"You know. When you'll be pretty handsome when you grow up....If you can't find a mate, how bout you hook up with dear sister over here, hmmm?"

Vivian teased him relentlessly. "Vivian, please stop its making it hard to concentrate on the forms with you making seductive comments to me all the time." Sirius deadpanned.

His whole focus was set on improvement, but....Vivian was pretty hot.....

'Fuck. Naked grandmas, no....naked grandpas.'

That sent a shiver down his spine and made him realigned with his previous mindset. Vivian giggled as she watched Sirius, finding it such fun to tease the little man whom she had taken in as her brother on pure whim alone.

'Who knew he would be so talented in magecraft and the sword. He's already squire level at five months, wonder what he'll be at in one year or five years.'

Bringing her finger to her lower lip as she thoughtfully wondered on what Sirius future had in store for him. His next lesson just before dinner was on Alchemy, transmutation.

"Sirius, to transmute you must understand what form of matter you are changing. Like are you converting it to liquid or gas? Are you keeping it as a solid and just changing the image of it? Lots of questions that you must answer before casting."

Sirius closed his eyes, put his hands on the ground, and ignited his magic circuits. Unbeknownst to him, a bundle of special magic circuits appeared on his chest and knowledge appeared in his mind. Vivian saw it though, since he was shirtless.

"Sirius stop for a moment will you."

Sirius stood up and watched on as Vivian placed her palm on his chest. "A magic crest, and not just any magic crest but one that has some pretty nifty spells in store..."

"Magic crest?"

"Oh! Yes, a magic crest is something usually only in well known mage families. They stock up spells from older generations allowing you to cast them instantaneously without having to study the spell itself, since its already in the crest."

The crest appeared as an eye on Sirius chest, right above his heart. "Well the only thing that I learned was transmutation, at least as far as changing the state of matter and the form the original matter appeared in."

Vivian nodded, impressed and more intrigued by Sirius past. "About that mate idea....."

"Oh fuck off already! You're like at least a thousand years old, if I am gonna get with any woman she'll be around my age, not my grandmas age."

Vivian nocked him upside the head and gave him four more hours of painful sword lessons before he was allowed to run off studying magecraft again.

Deep in Sirius's dream....

Sirius found himself in a mystical place filled with an infinite number of universes and multiverses. It stretched on like an enormous tree, but when he got to the center of this tree he found a white throne. Just looking at made his head pound and he could hear whispers of insanity ramble in his mind.

"Sirius! Sirius wake up!"

Then he shot up and the whispers were gone. He looked at Vivian soaked in sweat as he whimpered from the terrible nightmare he had just experienced. He felt his mind slipping at every word those whispers uttered, and it scared him to no end.

"Shhhhhh....No one's going to hurt you. It was just a dream." Vivian cradled his head in her arms as she lulled him back to sleep. As a fairy she had a deep connection with emotions and when she felt Sirius's, she panicked. He was in the abyss fighting off insanity, at least that's what it felt like to her.

'I'll just ask him in the morning.....' She thought as she patted his hair gently.
