Chapter 35 - STOP!

"I found it, but follow me quickly..." Afiero came back to report, freaking Mors out since he was keying in on his hearing. It practically made Mors jump out of his skin.

"Can you please not do that," Mors asked with a plea, since he couldn't tell where they were without a bit of concentration, and with them going invisible and just appearing...

It would eventually break his old heart.

Slowing his breathing and relaxing a bit, Mors could hear Afiero say, "Sorry," before moving...

And moving towards the Tower Master's direction!

Terrified, Mors quickly followed Afiero as they weaved between grow beds, with Afiero sometimes saying, "Grab one of them," and Mors pulling out a few random-looking herbs.

As they moved, Mors slowly realized that Afiero's irregular path had a purpose, as every time they turned, the path in front of them gave Mors the feeling of being watched.

Afiero was helping him dodge the security system.

It was a big enchantment.

One that marked a person with something, but its coverage was mediocre and didn't cover everything.

But it wasn't necessary to cover everything since usually, someone wouldn't see it as they moved, and when it's dark, you won't notice.

'Such an amazing idea,' Mors thought before quickly noting it down in his Crystal Mind.

Moving around the place, Mors quickly looked back to look for the Tower Master, only to find him getting closer and closer than before.

As he was worrying, Afiero finally stopped, saying, "Here! Quickly push it down, then pull it up."

"What?" Mors asked, seeing at the round herb, with forest green leaves.

"Trust me, this is how you extract what you need." Replied Afiero as he looked towards the Tower Master.

'Ok then,' Mors thought before moving close to the herb and pushing it down.

As soon as that happened, Mors heard a *Squelch* before pulling up a deflated herb, leaving a puddle of green goo.

Fearing he did something wrong, Afiero said, "Great job, now bag it, and let's get out of here."

Still wondering why and maybe Afiero didn't notice, Mors put the herb in his almost full bag and tried to locate the Tower Master.

Finding he was about 8 grow beds away, Mors waited for Spir or Afiero to tell him the direction.

Only to find them just standing there; Mors decided to just quickly say, "Let's get behind him and then run."

Both ghosts quickly nodded, and Mors guessed what they were doing. It was final test time, and they were just going to supervise him getting out of here.

Though, his happiness in their confidence in him sadly didn't overcome the growing fear he felt as he saw the Tower Master get closer.

Moving a few spaces closer, Mors felt his own heartbeat, the sweat on his forehead, and the cold air in his chest.

Worry slowly bloomed in his mind as the Tower Master came closer and closer till Mors could hear the heavy footsteps of the Tower Master.

Sitting there, just suffering by himself, he got the chance to look at Afiero to check his reaction.

The Alchemist Association did something to him, but he had to make sure. So with Afiero seeing his Tower Master had to create some reaction.

An, oh boy, was it a reaction.

Instead of his hair being glass-like and floating off into space smoothly, it was deep, blood-red spike hair on his head.

But his face showed no reaction. All it had was a simple smile. But that smile didn't transfer to the eyes, as they were stone cold and dead.

It was confirmed to Mors, as the cold rage could be felt moving off of Afiero as he tried to contain it. He failed at it, but he was at least trying.

Sitting there, Mors could hear the Tower Master move away further down the line. Feeling worried about being seen and such, he quietly decided to cross over behind the Tower Master.

So with quick, quiet steps, Mors crossed from behind the Tower Master, getting a great view of the person.

The Tower Master was a tall man with deep black hair flowing off the man's back. With a white alchemical coat, with a few stains coloring it all over.

Mors could feel something strange coming off the person, but since it was unidentifiable, he decided to just put it in the back of his mind.

Quickly hiding behind a grow bed again, Mors asked Afiero, "Where is the door again?"

Afiero, at this moment, still had some red spikes, but hearing Mors, some of them had become floaty smooth again. With a sigh, he said, "Over there," before pointing in a direction.

"Thanks, and after this, tell me what happened," replied Mors as he started in that direction while dodging the watching feeling paths.

After about 2 minutes, Mors heard a roar in the back. Looking through some leaves again, Mors could see the Tower Master visibly upset, standing near a grow bed.

That particular grow bed had the herb that they needed, but that was empty except for the green goo he left behind.

Worried, Mors decided to speed up, traveling faster and faster, as he slowly started to hear the Tower Master yelling to the guards to get in and search the place.

'Why did the Tower Master need this herb? Wasn't it a common herb,' thought Mors as he moved quickly towards the glass door hole.

Racing towards it while crouching was a bit of a task, especially knowing that the guards were moving up the rows to find him.

He was happy that he did a bit of exercising these days, as it allowed him to not die as he ran beside the grow beds.

But eventually, he reached the last row and was along the back wall.

Racing towards the corner, Mors asked quietly, "What is the key word for getting out? Is it the same or different?"

"Just say the same thing again, and you will be good. But watch out, as soon as you say it, that bastard will notice, and you will have to follow Spir in escaping," replied Afiero.

"I'll be outside then," added Spir as he traveled out to look for a path.

Quickly and quietly reaching the corner where the invisible enchantment was located, he took a deep breath to calm down.

It was about to get a lot more chaotic as he quietly moved forwards as Mors said, "May the garden goddess bless these herbs, and give us something new."

Soon as that happened, a shine illuminated from the center as it moved out, and as that happened, he could hear the Tower Master roaring, "STOP AT ONCE!"

Continuing, the Tower Master roared out again, "GUARDS, GO TO THE BACK CORNER AND CATCH THAT THIEF!"

Hoping the Tower Master couldn't really see him, Mors made sure his hood was up as he waited for the hole to open.

He could hear the Tower Master running over quite quickly, actually.

Quicker than the guards, but not quick enough as the hole opened and Mors quickly hopped out.

"STOP," he heard, but Mors ignored it as he asked out, "Where now?"

"Follow," replied an invisible voice before Spir appeared again, taking him away into some nearby bushes as they moved towards the enchanter building.

Not entering as it would make some noise, they moved along, hiding in dark spots and such.

Halfway there, Spir decided to stop them. As he stopped them, Mors felt something exit him, invisible, heading towards the herb garden.

Taking a peek through some branches, Mors could see the 4 large shapes standing outside the hole.

Looking in different directions for something, most likely him, but since they were far enough away and in the dark, Mors felt like it was safe for now.

But he got to watch something interesting as he peered through the leaves, as a ghost blob appeared as it started to spin faster and faster.

From it, a red wind appeared as it lightly dusted the four men, as three seemed to absorb it.

Waiting to see the result, three seemed to go out to the main road looking for Mors, while the last one just looked out.

The red wind just seemed to just hover around the person before something even stranger happened.

The person looked down and started to swat the red wind away.

Isn't this part of the ghost... No one should see it besides Alice, and he really had to ask her why.

Swatting and swatting, the person quickly looked around before putting his hand out as a kindling lit in his hand.
