"Are you being serious right now!?" This time, Dante's tone was slightly harsher and a bit unfriendly than before. There was anger and annoyance implied on his face.
Aizen didn't answer but showed his determination by still standing straight and looking into Dante's eyes without blinking.
The silence for a few moments made Arman exasperated and felt that today was the worst day for him since it started with the incident in front of the gate. And now, Aizen wasn't even following his words.
Unable to stand it any longer, Arman got up from his seat and walked towards Aizen's spot while grumbling in displeasure. He didn't mind the presence of a teacher and had forgotten his father's warning for a moment.
"Bastard! Are you deaf!? I said. Return to your seat!" Exclaimed Arman, who was already near Aizen and almost grabbed his shoulder to be dragged away.
However, Dante raised his left hand as he spoke, "That's enough! This course is over. You can wait for the next subject."
Arman and all the students, who saw the farce, fell silent and suddenly got goosebumps on their backs.
Those words were spoken in a friendly tone. But Dante's action of raising his left hand was the use of a magic spell. It rendered all students hardened, unable to move, even utter a single word.
He used his authority as a teacher to pressure the students into silence. Especially Arman, who was presumptuous and shouted in his class.
"Student of Malajorg, you can return to your places. And you, Student Barthomelo, come with me to my room."
Dante firmly said as he left the room without even looking at Arman or Aizen. But, the two students did as he was told without protest and did not wait any longer to make their move.
Meanwhile, Nathan and Milo were still shocked by Aizen's decision and didn't know what to make of the situation.
On the other hand, Inkgrit snorted after waking up from the shock.
'That's as I thought. The boy has gone mad! There's a screw loose in his head. That's why he acts strangely like that. Humph!'
And Arman swore in his heart.
'That kid is out of his mind! Not grateful for being able to enter the mage class and instead asked to move to the knight class. I don't care! That brat is a disgrace to this class! I'll teach him a lesson later!'
With that, the first lesson of Class 10 on the first day ended.
In Dante's room, Aizen stood straight without saying a word. Even on the way to the room earlier, he didn't say anything like explaining his reasons or asking Dante for understanding.
Dante himself could only sit behind his desk. He was just being patient while calming himself down from the momentary frustration. He was also contemplating what he should say and do to make Aizen reconsider his decision.
Even though this was the prestigious Raven Academy that gave birth to many talented and influential figures in the various kingdoms and empires of the Azure Realm, there was no future in the Knight Division!
It was because the profession of a knight was useless in this warless era!
"I'm very disappointed with you. I put you in Raven Academy's school in the Mage Division so that the future for you and the orphanage is bright.
"Among those abandoned children, only you are talented and able to enter here. All of us at the orphanage have high hopes for you!
"So, why!?" Dante said in a firm voice while slapping his desk with his right hand.
'Yes, talented in your eyes just because I'm good at academics. But in the end, it brought me despair to realize that I have no talent or aptitude for magic.' thought Aizen.
He didn't blame Dante for that one bit, even though he was in agony because of that.
Dante, as chairman of the orphanage foundation, was only trying to make Aizen successful in becoming a mage and getting a decent salary in the capital. That way, the survival and welfare of the children in the orphanage would be better and guaranteed.
Many elders and adults at the orphanage do not have steady or sufficient jobs apart from Dante. So, when he found out that Aizen was intelligent in academics, his hopes of being able to send a child from the orphanage to Raven Academy shone brightly.
He even used his savings for the orphanage's daily needs just for Aizen's bright future, which he yearns for.
However, it was too expensive!
The tuition fee at Raven Academy was 5 gold coins upon admission and 15 silver coins each season until graduation.
Aizen then blinked his eyes and sighed.
"Despite knowing that going against the expectations of you and the people of the orphanage is akin to betrayal, my decision is resolute.
"One way or another, I will return the money that the elders used for my education here. I will also come up with a way to be able to help finance the orphanage later.
"Thus, please grant permission for my transfer to the Knight Division class."
Hearing Aizen's answer, Dante didn't settle down but became angrier than before.
"How do you make money? By becoming a knight? There is no hope in that place. The profession would only earn around 10 or 15 silver coins annually! How can I put my trust in you?!
"You are seriously wasting your talents to learn to become a knight!"
"I still won't change my choice." Answered Aizen firmly and straightforwardly.
"You...!"
Dante was left speechless by Aizen's determination. He actually had no problem with money and was still able to fund the orphanage for the next few years because of his simple lifestyle.
Thus, his annual wages of 1 gold coin and 20 silver coins, or 120 silver coins, would occasionally have some left over after being used to buy the orphanage's necessities for the four seasons.
He then looked at Aizen seriously. Eye to eye, without blinking, and he knew that the decision was absolute.
"Fine. I will permit you and arrange your transfer right away. But on one condition. If you refuse, then I'm sorry, this deal will fail.
"While you've transferred to the Knight Division, your registration in the Mage Division will remain. I want you to continue attending mage classes, even if it's not every day. Especially in my subject of magic spells, okay?"
"Sure. I'll work on it."
"Sigh. Fine then. You can return to the Class 10 of Mage Division while waiting for the transfer." Dante ordered while massaging his forehead after taking a deep breath.
When Aizen left Dante's room, he found Milo and Nathan not far from where he stood. He approached the two boys with a softened face.
"How do you know Professor Alexander's room? It's only the first day. You shouldn't know the structure of all the school buildings and rooms." He asked Milo.
"Of course, I don't know. Nathan was the one who told me. He seems to know very well about Raven Academy." Milo answered while pointing at Nathan beside him.
"Hehe. Brother, you must be tired after being lectured by that tutor. You have made the right decision. Transferring to the Knights Division is pointless.
"Oh, yes. How about we go to the school canteen? I'll treat you guys."
Aizen looked at Nathan while pursing his lips. 'You little brat, still acting all-knowing and mature even though he's still wet behind his ears!'
"Firstly. I will still be in the Knight Division class. But I will also remain in the Mage Division.
"Two. Even though the three of us are the same height, Milo and I are 20 years old, while you are only 17. So, use polite language with us. Also, don't get in trouble while with us."
Aizen said while showing two left fingers to remind Nathan.
"Huh? Are you younger than me? I thought we were the same age since you were talking so casually to me." Milo was surprised to hear that Nathan's age was three years different from his.
Nathan was at a loss and tried to brush off the statement, but Aizen quickly silenced him and made him obedient like a puppy.
"If you don't obey it and are still stubborn, I will report you to William."
Hearing William's name, Nathan immediately stiffened. Even though Aizen didn't mention the full name in question, he reflexively thought of his brother, who was none other than the first prince, William Argust.
Nathan had his fear of his older brother, who didn't like his heroic and mature behavior. Although his older brother never said anything or hit him, William's intense gaze was enough to make him stiffen and tremble, breaking out in cold sweat.
"I'm sorry, elder brother. I'll be nice and do whatever you say."
"Alright. Let's eat then."
Aizen, Milo, and Nathan finally went to the canteen to eat. He had no problem hanging out with the two boys while waiting to be notified of his entry into the Knights Division from Dante.
Apart from that, he also needed to think about making money through Milo's father, the merchant Odin Axzec.
