Chereads / Half Faced Alpha / Chapter 11 - Fields of Flowers, Hearts of Thorns

Chapter 11 - Fields of Flowers, Hearts of Thorns

The smell of the flowers irritated Axton. He hated the vibrant colors, and the way the entire place looked like it had been cut off from the world. Beautiful, serene. The real world was nothing like this, and he hated fantasies. Even his wolf wouldn't want to trample here.

"Is it not beautiful?" Natalia asked as she spread her arms out and twirled.

"It is, unfortunately."

She smiled at him. "You know, there used to be a village here. Mostly dominated by women. "

He sighed. "I probably wiped them out." He muttered under his breath. He couldn't wait to go back to his life. This whole thing with love and flowers were causing uncomfortable goosebumps in his body.

"How bad can a person be to eliminate an entire village?"

Alpha Axton looked at her. "Bad enough."

"You sound like you approve of it. Like it seems right to you."

"I approve of it." He said, without batting an eye. "And it seems right to me."

She folded her hands, ready to explain to him why he shouldn't.

"Save your breath. It would be a total waste."

"Now, I regret kissing you the way I did. You sound like evil." She said. She was feigning it, trying to get his attention, but he only shrugged.

"I did tell you I was the beast set out to find you, so It should not come as a total surprise. I hate your naive act." He rolled his eyes.

"What did you say?"

He looked at her. "Run home and cry if you want to. I was already tired of having you around, anyway."

Her brows furrowed in confusion. He had never really been extremely sweet, but now, he was just blatantly mean.

She walked to him slowly. He was towering above her, and his brows shot up.

"What do you want?"

"I will not come with you." She said, her eyes determined.

"You do not have a say, pumpkin. You are coming whether you want it or not."

She smirked, shaking her head, like she was activating the side of her that brazenly kissed him. "Listen up. I own myself, and I own my body, and my heart. I will not step a foot anywhere with a scoundrel like you who approves of killing people without reason. Never!" She spat.

He bent till his eyes were on the same level with hers. "And what do you think you can do? You think you can stop your little heart from craving me? You have craved me ever since I got here. So get your act together and wait for the day we leave."

Alpha Axton hadn't been expecting it, but she raised a hand and slapped his cheek, her breath ragged with both the effort and anger she felt towards him.

His blood red eyes clouded over as he turned to her. "What are you going to do? Kill me? Or would you appoint your friend who raided this village to do it for you too?"

"My friend?" He said, his anger reaching its peak. Never in his life has he felt this disrespected, never in his life has he ever felt this vulnerable.

"I, Alpha Axton killed them myself. With my very own hands! I am the monster. I am that beast. Kill you? Get someone else to do it? I would gladly do it myself!"

He could feel the anger, the violence and he welcomed the feeling with bliss. Even if his opponent was a considerably smaller and cuter person, he would do what it takes to retain his name.

Natalia bent and held his hand, and whatever fires he had felt before felt like they had been doused with water. "Stop acting like a jerk." She said, then dropped his hand. "No woman likes a jerk."

"Who told you I needed a woman to like me? Who told you I want someone to be with?"

"You do." She said, looking unflinchingly straight into his eyes. "You are needy and it is obvious. That's why you act like a jerk. Because you believe you have something to prove."

His eyes were wide with the anger, but he did nothing. Not threatened, not cuss like he always did, or seek the help of his little knife. He watched her say what she wanted to him, and he knew she would get away with it. Damn Selina.

"You do not know what you are talking about." He said and straightened, leaning away from her. She caught the top of his cloak and dragged him back, so his face was close to hers again.

"How dare you?" She asked, tightening her grip on the collar so it choked him a little. "You do not want to admit how needy you are to the extent that you are admitting to something as heinous as the deaths that took place here years ago? Do you fear commitment that much?"

"Let go."

"Make me." She said to him, then stepped forward. "I am going to go with you everywhere. I have not seen a lot of your kind, and I do not intend to pass you over. It is up to you to open up and allow yourself be the vulnerable person you actually are."

He chuckled. "Natalia." He rarely used her name, and it rolled off his tongue like melted chocolate. "If you knew, just how wrong you are, you would turn away and never look back. Why do you think you found me like that? Why in the moon do you think you found an alpha lying so helplessly on your doorstep?" He pointed to himself, his eyes thinning. He could see her fear rising, and It was weird that he didn't feel as nice as he thought he would.

"Because I..." He continued. "I have done extremely bad things, and I do no attempt to repent from them. Not now, not ever!"

She slowly let go of his collar and he turned on his heel away from her. By the time he got back to her and her father's little cottage, half of his body was gone again.
