Alpha Axton's smile was unwavering even as the boy thrust harder, supporting the knife with the other hand. It was obvious he had decided to throw all caution to the wind, since he has already gone over the top.
"It gets boring... your predictability, I mean. Why do omegas always plunge headfirst into trouble when they could have just stayed away? I am starting to think you like to entertain me." He gave a small laugh, then tilted his face sideways. "What do you think I will do to you now?"
"I am going to kill her."
Alpha Axton nodded. "Why do we not see about that?"
"You killed one of my own too. You killed my father."
Alpha Axton turned around and one of the omegas took Natalia from him and he watched as the man carefully took her to the palace. By now, the wolves who had gathered around to welcome the alpha, were all standing with mixed feelings. Pity for the omega and dread of alpha Axton.
The Omega's knife was still lodged in alpha Axton's hand, his blood gradually pooling under it. Neither man moved, the weaker one ready to fight, the stronger one having fun in the fear he saw obviously in the Omega's eyes.
"If you were so scared, you could have just waited for me to fall asleep." Alpha Axton said, and then closed his other hand around the omega's hand that was holding the knife.
Slowly, but firmly, he pulled the knife out of his hand. He gave a low grunt, his smile still plastered on his face as the blade came out. When it completely came out, he didn't stop. He held the omega's hand more firmly, so he had no control of his hand and turned the knife to his chest.
His smile grew proportionally, along with the omega's naked fear, as the sharp edge of the blood stained knife got closer to the latter's chest.
"So cute." He said, and the only thing between the knife and the omega's heart was his thin cotton shirt.
Suddenly, Alpha Axton looked up, then sighed. He didn't want a mess on his hands today. He let go of the omega's hand and the omega dropped the knife.
Everyone gasped, surprised it wasn't the omega that was falling, but the knife.
Alpha Axton said nothing more and walked away, and the omega hurriedly got out of the way.
"It is not quite like you to not to do anything. After all, he had tried to stab the woman You came with. And look at your...."
"Who says you are still my beta?"
The beta froze, his eyes wide. "What do you mean, alpha?"
"It means I stripped you of your beta position. You are so dense."
"B..but why?"
Alpha Axton shrugged. "Because I have the power to. Tsk, tsk, tsk. By the way...how is your foot?"
He gave a wicked smirk as he went upstairs, his blood staining the stairs as he went.
Natalia was lying on his bed, the room he had cooped himself up to rot in for ten years. He watched her sleeping expression. Or the lack of it. She didn't look awed by him or attracted or naive or stubborn...just sleeping. His blood had dropped on her face, and he wiped it off gently.
He stood, then carried her bridal style. He would give her a room to be in. He wasn't sure he wanted to see her everyday.
"Axton?" He stopped walking and looked down at her, just as she opened her eyes. Her blue eyes were glassy with tears, and she roamed around his face.
"You're awake."
"I was a long time ago, Axton. I was hoping you would look at me if you thought I was asleep."
He swallowed, then resumed walking. "How long have you been awake for?"
"Once we got here. I heard everything..." She looked somber, her eyes scared.
"It was in war. I did not go to him."
He set her on the bed, and when he was about to move away, she held his hand, so he stayed leaned towards her.
"Why will you not tell me who you really are? Why will you not tell me why rather than drums and praises and music and gaiety, It is a dark silence that has welcomed us? Why is no one happy to see you?"
He brought his hand to her cheek, but then remembered the pain and quickly withdrew it.
"Do not let it worry you." He said simply.
"Then let me at least tend to your wound."
"I do not need that." He said and forcefully leaned away.
She watched him as he walked away, slowly, the blood around his hand now dry. The thing she had heard had scared her so much, but she couldn't understand why she still wanted to stick to him. Why she still wanted to be her.
He had kissed her, then took a knife for her, but....now he's gone, leaving her dark, empty and cold.
